I've just "discovered" David Mallett, and I'm in love. It's a warm, early evening, the sun has just set. The windows are open and this music is floating through the garden, over the wheat fields, and down to the lake. Ah, isn't this happiness?
Dave Mallett is a remarkable artist. A great writer, a great performer, and a master of the folk music genre. If you like folk music, and enjoy songs of substance, you'll like everything Dave does.
Have this song on “This Town” album. “Parallel Lives” is still my favorite DM album. He’s so good live. Very talented singer, songwriter/poet, and so smooth on his Martin. Been to see him with bass man Mike Burd, many times in ME, CT and MA.
I've just come across this vid......I had the good fortune to 'open' for the man , long ago : I'm guessing , circa late 1980's in a small community hall , in Cumbria , NW England UK. He was warm , quietly spoken , with a bunch of great songs, and playing,. ...paying me a fine compliment, and after the gig , I promptly asked him to sign 3 cd's of his work , graciously doing so.....and quite taken aback that I even had these cd's. A man of some social awareness and integrity I believe.
@@davidchannell1731 Thank you David , appreciated.....just learned of the great singer/songwriter John Prine's passing, so sad. Hey look after yourself in these 'strange ' days.
@@jamesfdonaldson Hi Jim, Yes it is very sad to hear of the passing of John Prine. I had the fortune of seeing him in concert twice and was really moved by his down home style and humility. Thanks for the well wishes Jim, you and your family stay safe as well.
Love this comment ! What a memorable evening that must have been for you. David is not only a legendary songwriter, but he also is the father of two amazing sons who are carrying on in his musical footsteps. Check out The Mallett Brothers Band. Years ago David's sons, Luke and Will started writing songs, and put together a band that has definitely stood the test of time. Their writing is poignant and captivating. The "apples" didn't fall too far from the tree. And I, for one, am grateful. 🎶🎵
@@judyannboudreau5138 Thank you Judyann. Oh yes , it was certainly a gig to remember , they didn't come round often , and I think the promoter was aware I could set up my small sound system. (ha ha.) I still love his work , and I'm sure, a good heart. I'll look up the Mallett band, and thanks for your comments. Best, Jim
@sderax456 Yes he is. Of course, we Canadians like to think of him as one of us, since his father came from Digby County, Nova Scotia -- just across the bay.

Vanedis3 You just described David’s hometown of Sebec Maine very well. Not sure about the wheat fields... maybe. Certainly fiddleheads.
