    Watching this episode from Burma and is the Bean Belt Region of Coffee.
    Myanmar has lots of high latitude to grow coffee.
    Eastern regions of the country have very high quality coffee growing.
    Southern regions have a different coffee culture and they have Robusta.
    Western regions have lots of coffee farms their region is called Chin Land.
    Myanmar Coffee Association is exporting coffee beans to around the world but it’s not popular enough to get names.
    James Hoffman is also using green beans from Myanmar, for his Square Mile Roaster.
    Now Burma is facing civil war, people fighting against the Military Junta.
    I wish one day you could visit to see our country coffee scene.

      I'm sad about the conditions in Myanmar; it had so much promise. I was actually there in 2016 and bought some great beans from Genius, unfortunately I was only in Yangon on that trip and didn't get to see any farms.

      Genius owner is also fleeing from Burma, but he left his job to others to run their business. He was the one the coffee entrepreneur against the Myanmar Coffee Association. He looks for a better way to promote coffee culture in our country Burma before Genius Coffee Roaster appears in our country, there was only Commodity Coffee took all the market shares but Genius promotes “Specialty Coffee Culture”

      Beyond sorrow to see our ASEAN brothers and sisters in Myanmar for the last two-three years.
      I hosted several Burmans (incl one Rohingya) students a few years back during their stay in Java. I remember of talking intensely about coffee and tea with them, we debated even. Hopefully, in the near future we'll have debate about mundane things like coffee and tea rather than this gruesome reality.

    I've been to Kenya many times and each time I go, there is some roadblock that prevents me from visiting the coffee farms. Hoping to return in 2025 and HOPEFULLY get a chance this next time to visit a farm

    The coffee growing region of Colombia is very aware of its touristic potential, so there's plenty of farms open to visitors, easy lodging, a number of guides who speak English, an entire coffee themed amusement park, plenty of local handcrafted products stores, plus plenty of places to visit because their natural and cultural beauty

    I did not have the opportunity yet to visit a farm, but it is high on my todo list. Great idea of having a database for contacts between coffee enthusiasts and farms/home stay. If you need help with a web frontend let me know

    I visited a coffee farm in Hawaii where they grew Kona. Unfortunately, it was more like a tour and you didn't really get that close to the trees. I would have preferred mixing with the locals, like you did.

      @coffeechronicler  11 месяцев назад +1

      I have never been to Hawaii, but my impression is that it's very professional over there, so the feeling will probably be a lot more like a fruit farm in the western world.

    I love this idea. And it really does help your appreciation to see a coffee farm firsthand. I visited relatives in Taiwan last year and worked as many coffee-oriented destinations in as possible. Taiwan is FULL of Barista champions and Roaster's world champions. I felt so spoiled by the coffee I was able to find. The highlight of the trip was visiting a small coffee farm that allowed for visitors to experience a few parts of their coffee operation. It was called 華囍田咖啡莊園。
