      The Sororitas' hierarchical structure is extremely complex and confusing, as each Order possesses its own customs and organizational standards, so much so that entire orders within the Sororitas are tasked charge with keeping track of how the other orders function, both individually and in relation to the rest of organization's chain of command. It's sometimes said that the system is deliberately overcomplicated in order to dissuade espionage and subterfuge against the Sororitas.

    Also don't forget in the Commissar Yarick novel she gazed into the eyes of a Tzeentchian Daemon Prince. It's not exactly clear what it happened, but it tried to corrupt her with a flow of knowledge and visions that turned her eyes funny but she remained pure somehow, and told Yarrick it had given her 'perspective'.

    I like to think that the Order was actually following the Temple Tendency from the Dark Hersey Role-playing game. These are the remnants of the original Temple of the God-Emperor who eventually became the Eclessiarchy. They were reformed by Sebastian Thorne after Van Dire's reign of blood. However, some chose not to follow Thorne's reforms. This makes the Pierced Thorn a heretical sect in the true meaning of the word as well as giving some ulterior meaning to their order' s name. This is an interesting question. I do not know.
    It is unlikely a genestealer cult because individual free time is rare for the sisters. Even if it were to take hold with some sister, leave and free time being so rare, her sisters would observe differences in her.
    I know this from my own time in service. Her sisters would see it, they would know.
    It could be due to their familiarity with xenos culture and language. They could have been TOO interested.

The Chaos gods were born during the 2nd millennium in the middle ages, barring Slaanesh who was born thousands upon thousands of years later when the Eldar murderfucked it into existence and blew away the warp storms, allowing Daddy E to launch his crusade. Khorne was born first during the crusades, then came Nurgle with the black death killing 1/3rd of Europe, and lastly (for a while at least) Tzeentch during the age of discovery. The only Daemon to even come close to the time period of Adam and Eve would be Drach'nyen, who was created when Cain committed the first act of murder.

    My wager is that the Piercing Thorn wasn't corrupted/tainted at all. In the novell Imperial Creed Setheno recieves "knowledge" of the future by a deamon of tzeentch on Mistral. Yarrick resists the demon, Seetheno does not. Maybe tzeentch just decieved her, if that was where her conviction of the taint came from. A false truth implanted in her head

When Stheno came back, probably forgot her purse, she saw their laxity and decided to erase it. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas kind of thing. With added bombardment from orbit. To make sure...

    1:04 - Yeah, it's specifically stated that. | 2:48 - They're resistant to chaos (more so than most) but not immune. | 5:24 - Black Dragons would be a grey area as they could be considered mutants, due to them having bone blades like Baraka..."One-eye" Yarrick, he knows how to fight Orks. | 5:45 - They can certainly be infected by that. | 10:00 - I'm guessing that it's more Nurgle's Rot, as killing them at that point would be doing them a favour, better that and dying of the disease and being reborn of Plaguebearer daemons, although there's one corrupted by Slaanesh...as for Khorne, those that lose control of themselves succumb to that.

  • @dannyavarice
    @dannyavarice 5 лет назад

    I mean, lesser things have happened to warrant an eradication of an entire (once friendly) army to the Imperium, but it does seem oddly convenient for the Piercing Thorns' cannoness to be away during the initial corruption. It wouldn't surprise me if she was actually tainted and sought sacrifice to (most likely) Khorne. And what better sacrifice than that of her entire sisterhood while she remains completely clear of any persecution, distrust, or even suspicion. Khorne isn't picky about who is killed in his name, the only thing that matters is the death itself. Just an alternative possibility (although highly unlikely).

    • @skylark306
      @skylark306 5 лет назад +2

      Khorne however, does not appreciate skulls earned through deceptions as much. Especially not from someone pretending to be a corpse-emperor worshipper.

    • @dannyavarice
      @dannyavarice 5 лет назад

      @@skylark306 That's very true. That's probably the largest flaw in my theory. Khorne isn't comparable to Tzeench or Slaanesh in the slightest. Now that I think about it, Nurgle and Khorne detest deception. Nurgle would rather have the civilization rot from within and Khorne is rather honorable, despite his insatiable bloodlust. With that in mind, I think it's safe to say that the Cannoness is pure. I apologize I'm not that familiar with the lore of the Eclesiarchy.

  • @leatherjacket9

    Here is a theory (unfounded and maybe unprecedented for sisters if battle). The order was not tainted, but Setheno was tainted. The order resisted this taint and Setheno made her move to have the order eliminated, using her power and influence to move upon her own order before they could move against her. Setheno with Inquisitor like power had them all eliminated. Now she is free to travel the Galaxy as a Canonness Errant and spread the taint (genestealer or chaos), wherever she goes.

    See, this right here is my only knock against 40K. The Sisters of Battle and the original Tau fluff where some of the least grimdark parts of the game. Sure the Sisters served the Imperium, but the Sister's themselves were all but above corruption. Only a handful in thousands of years. The Sisters, like the original Tau fluff actually gave the game "good guys." But you cannot have something in 40K apparently that is in any way hopeful. Same thing is happening to Age of Sigmar. Not everything has to be grimdark to have conflict.

    Wouldn't the easiest answer be that one of the sisters who accompanied Sethano and survived the fight with the demon prince in the catacombs on Mistral (See "Imperial Creed," by David Anannandale) succumbs to the taint and slowly worked to spread it amongst her sisters? Although it isn't said outright, it is pretty much implied that the same thing happened to Yarrick's mentor Lord Commissar Rask after he survived the same ordeal.
