In the official Legacy continuation novel The Lost, when McKay is a Wraith, he overhears some other Wraith discussing this battle. Apparently Teyla's actions became legendary amongst the Wraith.
Sadly no. The beam weapons never appeared in those books either though. But Teyla is a badass in the Legacy series. In the story there, Todd's training of Teyla during this episode has given her a greater range of power since she now knows how to properly use her abilities and no longer fears them. Its stated that she possesses the telepathic strength of a Wraith Queen now. Amongst her new abilities is communicating with the Wraith telepathically without having to mind-link with them though that's just telepathic talking basically, commanding lesser Wraith since her mind's power is equivalent to a Queen which they automatically respond to and even killing Wraith through mentally shutting down their body functions. The Queens possess that ability and Teyla only uses it twice, the second time to kill a Wraith Queen after a telepathic duel, the Queen being the main enemy of the book series.
Interesting. I still think that Jumpers with Asgard weapons would be badass. How about F-302s? Did those ever receive upgraded weapons? Autocannons and missiles seem a bit archaic.
Can't remember, sorry. I know they did well in the final battle with the Wraith though which featured the George Hammond (the main ship of the books though the Daedalus appears and fights in the final battle of the 3rd book alongside the Hammond), a Lantean cruiser operated by the Genii, a small Wraith fleet led by Todd and Atlantis itself, flown by Sheppard primarily and at other times Beckett and Jack O'Neill who commands the battle after coming to help with SG-1. They win when a few boarding parties enter Queen Death's (the main enemy) hive ship with one led by Laura Cadman and Ladon Radim and another by Teyla who meets up with a young but friendly Queen who led her own boarding party. After Teyla kills Queen Death, the surviving Wraith (and there's not many ships who survived the battle) surrender to Todd's daughter Queen Alabaster who had been missing for nearly 20 years but was found by accident and rescued by Sheppard's team. The books don't have them really win the war so much as establish a peace: Todd and Keller are able to create a retrovirus that allows the Wraith to feed on humans without harming them. Both Keller and Zelenka were fed on (willingly) after taking it and were unaged. After the end of Queen Death, a deal is made where the Wraith give the humans half of the Pegasus Galaxy that they won't bother at all while they can use the retrovirus when dealing with the other half.
Earlier in the episode, Todd acted as if he would keep Teyla as a figure head for his alliance far longer than they previously agreed upon. This battle, considered unnecessary by Todd and his Wraith, was Teyla declaring to Todd that she would not be a quite puppet, and if he tried to use her that way she would use her superior position to be as destructive as possible for his Alliance.
I'm sure he didn't want to use her like that since he's not like the rest of his kind and mostly keeps ture to his promises hence why Todd the only wraith you can trust Todd the guide😏
In the Legacy continuation series, Teyla's powers are greatly enhanced as a result of her training with Todd over the course of this episode. She is capable of so much more due to Todd training her after this. In the books, her abilities are now in actuality equivalent to those of a Wraith Queen. She also briefly resumes her disguise as Todd's queen Queen Steelflower.

Same series. Those 8 books are like books 16 to 23 or something like that. More I think. Didn't you ever look at the numbers on the side??? Those eight books are the Legacy series. Book 3 of that series is #18 in the series overall.
I always loved this battle!!! When I first saw it, I thought the Puddle Jumper drones destroyed the hive ship but it just damaged it enough to give Teyla's hive the upper hand.
Yeah need a lot more drones to blow up a ship, the swarm of drones from the Orion took a good amount of time to destroy it, these drones just simply weakened the external armor and damaged internal systems enough that the plasma shots from Teyla's ship were able to do much more damage and end the fight
Yeah they were close range, half dozen drones, strategically targeted to a weak spot, not going to take out a hive, but as it was already damaged and being fired on, it was enough to give the other hive the edge
@@TheValentineEnemy I don't really know how to properly measure it but it would make sense that the wraith were more capable considering they directly fought the ancients and learned while the goa'uld were used to dominating without challenge.
I know jumpers don't have enough drones to destroy a hive ship by themselves, but scenes like this make you think a squad of them could be quite useful to carry around inside the Daedalus. You could even keep them in the bay and just use them to fire drone weapons out of the Daedalus. Before they got the plasma beams, would certainly have been more useful than those railguns.

"What for?" "I do not know! I'm not on the ship. But if I had to guess I'd say they've gone to cull." Had to guess? What? Isn't your species telepathic? Have the writers forgot that "little" detail about Wraith society?
Nope. In The Gift (s0118) Teyla had no trouble connecting to the Wraith from the fleet while in hyperspace. Nowhere in the series is ever explained that human-Wraith hybrids being stronger than pureblood Wraith. Hell, in Misbegotten (s302) the surviving Wraith gather and use their collective telepathy to contact another Hiveship to rescue them. The dumbest moment however was in First Contact (s5e10) when Todd receives an urgent message from his hive, which was just across the screen via an earpiece radio. Why not just use your already existing telepathy for that, especially since it's urgent. It's pretty clear that later in the show the writers kind of forgot the Wraith still have telepathy, they didn't even bother to give a half-arsed explanation to why it stopped being relevant (like say, limited food supply means they can't use their telepathy fully, or the civil war causes mistrust, so they started severing their connection among themselves).

Its doubtful Wraith ships have the ability to fire with that kind of precision, probably due to their biological nature.
