I’ll never buy a 4k. I’ve had the same 1080p hd TV for going on 12 years I believe. It’s survived 8 moves in the back of a u-haul, 2 of which were 200+ miles. As long as the screen never goes out I have no reason to get a new TV. And I hope I never have to considering I’ve heard a lot of modern TVs don’t have AV ports. And I’m somewhat of a laserdisc collector so that would really suck. And I don’t like the look of upscaling with one of those Av-Hdmi adapters.

Aw dude thank you so much for pointing this out! I kept delaying moving the story forward a bit so I could screw around when it was raining, taking selfies and such :p Have a good one, Garrett!
"Spider-man (games) are helping me in difficult times" - that's what heroes are for! I'm considering buying a PS4 just to play this game: as a Spider-Man fan I loved Ultimate Spider-Man on PS2 and of course the first Nevesoft game on PSOne. And getting a new experience that can match those ones is surely appealing A LOT. Plus, seeing "reviews" such as this one doesn't help a lot in saving money... =)
One thing I want a point out: the 2004 game does NOT do the “left and right” swinging. The right trigger shoots a webline while the left boosts your speed. The only game where you control Spidey’s individual arms is the ASM2 one. Oh and I guess the Wii version of Spider-Man 3 but who cares?
Thank you Kendall, this point was just killing me. It's so cringe worthy. He is deluded about the fundamental mechanic he is trying to praise. Him: "This chocolate cake is so delicious because I love CHOCOLATE." Me: "Uh, dude, yeah the cake's delicious.... but it's clearly a carrot cake."
But... I also remember controlling left and right webs in spiderman 2. I haven't played another spiderman game on console since, so I can't be remembering another one. I do know that there was a toggle option for advanced web swinging mode in the game, and it might have been that toggle that enabled left/right control, and without it, you couldn't do that. Perhaps that's why you are thinking this?
You can have two lines out at once by pressing the swing button while you're already holding onto a webline, but that's the closest there is. There is definitely no individually controlling the right and left arms. Not unless other regions got it in their version of the game, anyways. Don't know why they would though.
Think about it this way, Arkalius80... What was your sprint button? Now, you think about it... Right trigger shot your webline, for some reason you're remembering left trigger shot a webline as well, but in fact left trigger was your sprint button. You held it frequently while playing and if you held both triggers at the same time you would webzip, but the only game that I know has left hand/right hand swing mechanics is Amazing Spider-Man 2.
I don't remember the controls, it was over a decade ago. I just know you could hold onto and swing on two webs, one in each hand. How you did it, I couldn't tell you control-wise. I have a vague recollection of choosing which arm to shoot a web from, but I might be mistaken on that.
Mathew Culver shattered dimensions was awesome but I remember being disappointed that it was just a bunch of levels you play back to back with a boss at the end. After having multiple Spider-Man games where you’re free to swing around the city it sucked having these 4 really unique and awesome versions of Spider-Man be confined to these tiny levels. Imagine what they could’ve done with it if it would’ve been open world.
I feel the same way about Kingdom Hearts. First game released on PS2 in 2002. At the time I was mainly into shooters so when my cousin introduced me to it I hated it at first, but after playing some more and getting into the story I fell in love with it and have been a huge fan ever since. No matter how sad I was, playing Kingdom Hearts always put a smile on my face and never failed to brighten my day and I became emotionally attached to the characters and story. Even to this day, I own the HD versions on PS4, eagerly awaiting KH3. When my grandmother passed away in June I was so down and depressed, the first thing I did was turn to the KH series and it’s helped out so much with moving on, I don’t know what I’d do without it honestly.
I get where your coming from. The KH series has helped me a lot of the tough times in my life. Tbh it felt so surreal putting a down payment on Kingdom hearts 3 it felt very dream like
I feel ya! Even the Creative Director at Insomniac Bryan Intihar was always talking about in interviews about the webslining in this game being "therapeutic" and I totally agree with that hahah :D
I completely agree with what you said in this video about Spider-man especially about the web swinging. It helped me a lot when I was a teenager feeling with the stress of my teen years. Even after I got a 360 (back when I still had a PS2) I would put play my ps2 just to play it for nothing relaxed me more then web swinging on Spider-man 2. To have it now as an adult is a dream come to as stress seems to be even worst. Insomniac got it right.
i really relate to the idea of escape - i have depression and anxiety aswell and for me spiderman has always made me feel understood and like its ok not to be ok but to translate that into helping others. nice video man, keep up the fight
First off, HI WOODS!! Never thought I'd get a reply from you lol. Secondly, the Walmart, at least near me, yes. I work there lol. Just checked GameStop's website, and they have it for 44 elite pro price (mine still shows Elite Pro Price since I'm still at that branch) just last month or so I was at my local GameStop it was lower, the only reason I know is because I beat it not too long ago on my PS4 and paid under $20 for it. Why in the world is it that much? Lol.
Thank you for these videos. And you talking about you being depressed doesn't bring the video down it makes you relatable and more likable for your honesty. Anyway great review keep em up.
You forgot to add that one spiderman game in the xbox it was a shell shaded game and you got to play as venom and all that random events happened THAT was the best spiderman game ever
it's not that no one wanted to touch Spiderman after 2014, i think the licence for the game was being negotiated by Marvel with Sony around that time , then the game started developement with Insomniac
You heard it, folks: Wood likes to swing and wishes a friend would join him. But seriously, Spider-Man 2 for the PS2 will be on my buy list now. Gotta check that out.
Some people had doubts and I ain't going to lie I was in that category. Because Spider-Man and other superhero games seem to not hit the mark until Batman Arkham. Batman seem like he was the only one out there pushing the boundaries on superhero games and now that the franchise has concluded what next. Spider-Man now I have my doubts about this game wasn't going to even pick it up but I heard a couple of my friends talk about it and they said dude is up there with Batman.
Rize Before Dawn I would even put it above the Arkham games honestly man. To me it was the perfect way to do a Spider-Man game and they set up so many sequel possibilities I’m excited to see what they do nexf
You're mis-remembering the swinging controls dude. To anyone confused about this, this is how it was in Spider-Man 2... RT - Swing LT - Sprint/Boost Swing LT+RT - Web-Zip I think what people are remembering is the Advanced Swinging mode which meant you had to jump off your web line. In this mode you could tap the RT and send a web line out, then tap and hold it to send out another thus hanging from 2 webs. Once you let go of the trigger you would let go of your first line and swing on your new one. In the Easy Mode you just let go of the web line when you let go of the trigger.
Comic Book Spiderman Suit ftw. It made the cutscenes so much better seeing him like that. It had like a space jam feel to it. I loved it. Never changed my suit after I unlocked that one.
Same bro!, Spiderman has always been my #1 favorite superhero ever that even my friends and family know it tbh lol...cant wait to get it for my Birthday next month tho
I haven't got it yet and it looks good but I'm afraid of getting it and wasting $60 bc of it being so easy and a quick game..I mean if it's as long as maybe Batman Arkham asylum or arkham city I might change my mind.
David Hornberger I'm not sure how long it took me ... say around 20 hrs or so to do everything. To be fair I did rush it, but I really did enjoy it. Maybe wait for the "game of the year" (or equivalent name) edition to come out, at least u will get the DLC with it.
It's not really easy though. It starts very brutally hard, it really does, but as it goes it becomes easier as you do things, just like a superhero would make it easier as they did the same things.
Caesar Nero saying it's brutally hard is a bit much. I was trying to play it like the Arkham games, which made it hard, but then I get used to how the game plays and t then I adjusted to it. So yeah, in that sense it was tricky at the beginning (took me a while to get used to swinging about)
This is my favourite game of all time. I have all the costumes (including the secret photo ops one),all the dlc missions, and the game 100%. I even have the hardest trophy in the game, the “power and responsibility” trophy. Beat the game on every difficulty, love it.
Amazing points man! I'm so glad your video came into my recommendations. I'm thinking of getting Spider-Man PS4 soon. I absolutely love the web-swinging, and I remember playing the Ultimate Spider-Man game when I was younger! This game is just phenomenal, and the view of New York from the buildings is just breath-taking.
100% sure that there was no Option to control your left and right Hand in spidey 2 and so ob until the amazing spider-man 2. Infact I checked spidey 2, spidey 3 (ps2 and 3 Version), ultimate spidey and web of shadows (which all were developed by the same devs) real quick and man: there is no left and right Hand swinging on no dificulty. You only could increase the speed with the left trigger. Having control over both hands is too confusing as well when you try to have a solid flow ongoing. Only slows you down. Even though you can get used to it I got to say: just doesn't feel right. Way better how they handled it in here. Still respect your opinion though. Different people like different swinging mechanics I guess :D
Why do I remember having left/right control in spiderman 2? I haven't played another one since (until this new one). There was an advanced webswinging mode you could enable in the game. Perhaps you played with that disabled, and this didn't allow for left/right control?
@@ulisesjaime115 as I wrote: checked that on my ps2 right then and there again. Wasn't working. Right is to shoot Web and left to gain speed. As someone else mentioned here earlier there could be an Option I forgott to turn on or there was a different Version for europe. Fact is: as I checked it after this video 6 days ago there was no right left swinging from the getgo
Yes you can you newbs. You press the right trigger and then the right trigger a second time which will cause the character to shoot a second web from his other hand. You can also use that move to sling shot yourseelf around the map. There is even an upgrade that allows you to slingshot yourself. The fact you people don't know that tells me you didn't play Spider-Mam 2 for very long.
Rick Jones that’s not what he said. He said you could use the left trigger and the right trigger. Something tells me you didn’t pay attention to the video
Davis Larsen I was replying to the original poster not the creator of this video. Maybe you're the one not paying attention the the original post. He asks when could you swing from both arms. The answer is always. The original post never mentions the triggers.
Man I got the game this year on one of the most anxiety parts of my life. I was so happy when I got it. I finished it asap xD :) Such anamazing game indeed.
I am planning to buy this...how long does it take to complete the game? Is it worthabuy? Can i do anything else after completing the story except dlc??...pls answer
OMFG I HAD THE EXACT same feeling about the ending and the co-op expect of the next game. I got goosebumps from the excitement of thinking of the idea.
i noticed that too about the voice acting.. he had an "out of breath" version and a regular version of everything that was amazing.. this game is a 10 out of 10
You forgot web of shadows my guy. That bests sm2 imo. And Spiderman 2 and 3 doesn't let you use both arms for swinging. There are moves in the game that has Spiderman hold two web strings with both hands. But The Amazing Spiderman 2 is the only Spiderman game with the both triggers swing mechanic. From my experience anyways.
Ok so, first off, great video, glad to see you back in action. But! I want to point out one thing, and it's a thing that I've seen many people say so I'm kind of confused by my own experience, but in Spider-Man 2, you didn't press R2 for right web and L2 for left web, at least on PS2. I played this game countless hours in my youth and recently played it again a few months ago. And, unless there were different control schemes to choose from and I just didn't pay attention, it was always R2 for web swing and L2 for a speed boost (which, btw is something I thought was lacking in SM PS4). Even when you were on the ground, L2 was for sprinting (I'm pretty sure it was L2) and it actually changed you attacks. So, I don't know how it was for other, but I don't remember it being one button for right hand web swing and a different button for the other, at least not on PS2. I think Ultimate Spider-Man had that mechanic though, now that I think of it. And it also had the thing of pressing Triangle to climb up the web, which was pretty useful at times. Also, I want to say that, even though now Spider-Man games are almost always gonna be open world / sandbox kind of games, I did really enjoy Shattered Dimension and Edge of Time, which were more beat them up kind of games (seeing as this is the name of the channel, I thought he would have enjoyed them a bit more... :P ), and I know I wouldn't mind another game like that!
I wish they kept the hundred combat moves from spiderman 2 that you could buy. I use to love webbing criminals, grabbing them and then piledriving them from a really high building
The attention to details is through the roof, I remember that time where I dodged a car pursuit because I like wanted to collect a backpack and somebody called the JJJ show to concur his opinion about Spidey because he saw Spidey just overlook a crime. That JJJ show was always entertaining.
You just got a subscriber because of this video my man. I've had this game for almost a week now and I've honestly been so anxious about it not being good that I haven't even played it in fear it might let me down. However this video has me pretty hyped about it and I don't know if you'll get to read this man but thanks for being so passionate about it without spoiling it I appreciate it.
Is it weird that even though im seeing all this great reviews for the game and still hesitant to buy it. This it's because I heard so many great things about Horizon zero Dawn. But then didn't end up liking it because it took mechanics from great games and put it into one game. the problem is I've already played on this great game so much I was tired of the mechanics. And I'm kind of just afraid Spider-Man will end up like that. *update: I got %100 on the game and the 2 current DLC and have had more fun than i could have ever imagined with everything in this game!
It doesn't end up like that. The game doesn't copy mechanics straight. All of the mechanics are modified heavily and are designed to make it feel like a spiderman game.
Don't buy it until after all ghe DLC is released to see what state it's in. You can platinum the game in a rental period. After you've platinumed it (100%) the amount of gameplay options are severely diminished. If you want to continue playing after you've rented then that would be your best bet. As of right now there's literally 1-2 weeks worth of gameplay depending on how much free time you have. This game is HEAVILY story dependent. The open world is honestly there right now as fan service. Take this from a huge spidey game fan. Sony makes very well polishes highly cinematic experiences, but they have a hard time making fun highly replayable games.
Haha, I 100%ed the game for the same reason, well that and it was the game that finally got me to get a ps4, can't wait for dlc, till then catching up on all the playstation exclusives from the last 2 generations.
@Leo Carlo Aguilar Thanks, already picked up Uncharted and finished the first one, still working my way through the rest, picked up The Last of Us and Ratchet and Clank. God of War is the next one I'm looking to get and Infamous: Second Son and Horizon Zero Dawn look prett nice. A lot of these games being Playstation hits makes it nice and easy to find em for a good price.
@Leo Carlo Aguilar I look forward to playing them all, all the great exclusives was why I got ps4. I'm a pc gamer primarily, but couldn't resist, I was blown away by how good Spider-man looks. Plus I've now finally got a place to play Red Dead 2 when it comes out. :)
It's kinda funny that you say that this game helped you cope with a difficult situation, because this game has been helping me cope with a really harsh break up that happened on New Years Eve, I 100% the game while talking with friends, in order to bring myself out of the negative mindset that I was in, and kinda still am in right now. I played this game a few years back, and loved it then... and now I have a whole new appreciation for it!

kalythgaming I bought a PS4 almost exclusively because of this game and was not let down by my decision at all!
Its helping me trought hard times too dude, right now im 100% it.
Uncle may die in the game and in rdr2 arthur morgan die
@@mattmysterious866 Indeed both died of a sickness Arthur got it when someone coughed in is face and aunt May got it from a virus
14:20 “No you’re breathtaking!!”
I'm actually just playing through this game now and is really hard to put the controller down.
Resident evil
Wow ....the amount of work that was put in this game is just .."AMAZING"
One thing I want a point out: the 2004 game does NOT do the “left and right” swinging. The right trigger shoots a webline while the left boosts your speed. The only game where you control Spidey’s individual arms is the ASM2 one.
Oh and I guess the Wii version of Spider-Man 3 but who cares?
Thank you Kendall, this point was just killing me. It's so cringe worthy. He is deluded about the fundamental mechanic he is trying to praise.
Him: "This chocolate cake is so delicious because I love CHOCOLATE."
Me: "Uh, dude, yeah the cake's delicious.... but it's clearly a carrot cake."
Before this game came out.
Ultimate Spider Man was always my favorite. Omg I loved that game so much
Low-key web of shadows was technically better than my baby spiderman 2
I agree wholeheartedly
I also preferred the shattered dimension
Mathew Culver shattered dimensions was awesome but I remember being disappointed that it was just a bunch of levels you play back to back with a boss at the end. After having multiple Spider-Man games where you’re free to swing around the city it sucked having these 4 really unique and awesome versions of Spider-Man be confined to these tiny levels. Imagine what they could’ve done with it if it would’ve been open world.
Web Of Shadows was so slept on. That game is still replayable today!
The air combat is just too good in web of shadows
My favorite part was swinging around the city tbh, made me feel like I was actually Spider-Man
I feel the same way about Kingdom Hearts.
Play Final fantasy games probably
I get where your coming from. The KH series has helped me a lot of the tough times in my life. Tbh it felt so surreal putting a down payment on Kingdom hearts 3 it felt very dream like
damn i remember watching those tv ads about it but my parents refused to buy it for me lol
.
I remember playing the PS1 version and the Gameboy Advance one. Playing this PS4 version is such a joy. Will definitely 100% it too soon!
I actually had a lot of fun on the game boy advance version as well
14:19... YOU'RE BREATHE TAKING!!
I feel ya! Even the Creative Director at Insomniac Bryan Intihar was always talking about in interviews about the webslining in this game being "therapeutic" and I totally agree with that hahah :D
Wood talking about the year 2000 like it’s the Dark Ages.
Almost 2 decades ago.
A hallowed time, still rubbing knees with the 90s, where you could express yourself freely without dire consequences.
BeatEmUps Holy fuuuuu
This was my first spider-man game since ps1 I’ve come a long way down the road and I am coming to 100 percent the game myself
Zusse got 100 today.
You forgot web of shadows, which IS a good spider-man game in my opinion
Yes
@@insertnamehere9153 Ultimate Spiderman was a legit game. The movement was a lot fun and my favorite part of the game.
i really relate to the idea of escape - i have depression and anxiety aswell and for me spiderman has always made me feel understood and like its ok not to be ok but to translate that into helping others. nice video man, keep up the fight
that sounds really cheesy but in the end it really is a fight
It's the best Spider-Man game ever made!!!!
Amazon sells Amazing Spider-Man 2 the game for 130 bucks but you can buy it new from Walmart and GameStop for $20 or under.
You sure? I've seen it for 55 at gamestop recently.
Lol.
Thanks.
@beatEmUps I also like how the eyes enlarge when he squints too see something
Thank you for these videos. And you talking about you being depressed doesn't bring the video down it makes you relatable and more likable for your honesty. Anyway great review keep em up.
You forgot to add that one spiderman game in the xbox it was a shell shaded game and you got to play as venom and all that random events happened THAT was the best spiderman game ever
it's not that no one wanted to touch Spiderman after 2014, i think the licence for the game was being negotiated by Marvel with Sony around that time , then the game started developement with Insomniac
Neoxis Zero I think you're right; they started development in 2015.
You heard it, folks: Wood likes to swing and wishes a friend would join him.
But seriously, Spider-Man 2 for the PS2 will be on my buy list now. Gotta check that out.
This is the first game I have never used fast travel just swung to each location lol
I hope you are better from your depression and anxiety you are an amazing content creator and a better person
Great job man Love this review even the flannel shirt as to the feel of the video it's almost like an undercover spidey suit.
@@jeremyroberts8822 and Insert name here, I agree with those statements
You're mis-remembering the swinging controls dude.
To anyone confused about this, this is how it was in Spider-Man 2...
RT - Swing
LT - Sprint/Boost Swing
LT+RT - Web-Zip
I think what people are remembering is the Advanced Swinging mode which meant you had to jump off your web line.
In this mode you could tap the RT and send a web line out, then tap and hold it to send out another thus hanging from 2 webs. Once you let go of the trigger you would let go of your first line and swing on your new one.
In the Easy Mode you just let go of the web line when you let go of the trigger.
Yes new video thanks for making videos even in times like this thank you Wood 😉😉😉
Got the platinum last friday. Easiest and most enjoyable game I've played in a very long time.
Glad I got the DLC packs too
I haven't got it yet and it looks good but I'm afraid of getting it and wasting $60 bc of it being so easy and a quick game..I mean if it's as long as maybe Batman Arkham asylum or arkham city I might change my mind.
So yeah, in that sense it was tricky at the beginning (took me a while to get used to swinging about)
For me it was combat. You can die super easy early on, as a matter of fact dying I only did it in the first few hours.
Well they had to get Spider-Man right again eventually, I'm just glad they got it SOOOO right
dude, the game isn't over yet, 3 more dlc coming
The game is over... paying money for additional content means the game is over you have to buy more of it.
IzThat it
Lol, you really can’t pay for DLC?
@@aks-nx5ht the game's still over though. DLC is separate. affording it or not doesn't matter.
Feziq it’s only $25 lol
If there's a pay dlc insomniac will be the next EA!
@@Arkalius80 could be the case. I am pretty sure i looked everything up though. Maybe there was a different Version here in europe?
Nope I still have it on my ps2 you can shoot a web corresponding to what trigger you pressed
It's there. Turn it on.
I'm 100%ing this game too! ITS SO MUCH FUN TO SWINGGGGG!!!!

Web of shadows is like what Spider-Man 3 game could have been
Since when can u swing from both arms in Spider-Man 2
You can't
Rick Jones we were referring to the video bud. He said you could swing with both triggers. Which is what I was referencing
I have a crush on this version of Mary Jane. I always prefer Gwen Stacy, but ps4 MJ is such a cutie ❤️☺️
I just finished the game as well and I agree with 100% of what you said, even the part of being in tears at the end of the story haha
OMFG I HAD THE EXACT same feeling about the ending and the co-op expect of the next game. I got goosebumps from the excitement of thinking of the idea.
Best review I have ever seen
Im at 97%!! Working for 100%
Man, if you love swinging in Spider-Man games, you need to check out web of shadows. You will not be disappointed
i noticed that too about the voice acting.. he had an "out of breath" version and a regular version of everything that was amazing.. this game is a 10 out of 10
You forgot web of shadows my guy.
Tobey Maguire Was the Most Important to me
Pretty sweet attention to detail: The lens on Spidey's Future Foundation suit actually mirror reflects the environment around you perfectly.
Just played the Easy Swinging on Spider-Man 2 to check if he alternates hands based on L2 or R2. Nope, still swings with the R2 button.
@@LoveAlec1 Ok, so I'm not crazy. There never was a left button left hand - right button right hand mechanic in SM 2!
"Because it's what helped shape me as a video game" lol
I wish they kept the hundred combat moves from spiderman 2 that you could buy. I use to love webbing criminals, grabbing them and then piledriving them from a really high building
This is the best Spider-Man PS4 Review. 1000x better than my review.
It isn’t the Spider-Man game we deserve its the one we need
"Different shirt..." Lol
@@TechnoMinarchist its worth buying for the story alone. I'm serious. Spiderman PS4 is probably the best Spider-Man Movie we ever got.
if you like Batman arkham you'll like this it's basically spiderman arkham with epic swinging
Sony makes very well polishes highly cinematic experiences, but they have a hard time making fun highly replayable games.
oh dear!
10:30 is where the video starts
I love how Peter struggles to keep his to lives seperate and the thing forces them to intertwine is his mentor becoming Doc Ock.
Watching this as I get my first ever PlayStation console tomorrow, PS5, so ready to get miles morales ultimate edition to play both games
I live in New York the map of the city is so accurate that for most of the game I didn’t use the map to find landmarks. Such a cool thing
