@caroldaronch1974 he did have hip replacement from my understanding but problems persisted. He also had problems with his hands. I always wondered how he played the guitar so well bc he was a small man, but his hands were big for his size. The heels I think created the problems. You will see in his later videos he no longer wore the heels. Part of me also believes he was tired. He had given everything to us on stage. He was a Jehovah Witness and very religious. I read that his wife Mayte was told of the problems with the baby before delivery and the Dr wanted to do different things and Prince rejected everything bc he felt God wld take care of it. You are right there are people that only take pain meds for pain. I’m one of them. I had undiagnosed head injury for 16 years that caused unrelenting headaches at all times. I was on pain meds that were given to cancer patients and getting fentanyl shots. The only time I had relief was when I slept. Doctors thought I just wanted to get more drugs. I didn’t. I just wanted to stop hurting. Finally I found the right neurologist that knew what was wrong. I’m off pain meds completely now. There is that 1% that really need the pain medication. Don’t judge someone until you’ve walked in their shoes

I am just seeing this video and I am very happy. I was in attendance at this very performance and ironically I met Prince the night before at the Hyatt Capitol Hill where he was staying. I worked as a bellman and took his tour luggage to his and the band rooms. The band was very friendly especially Wendy when I delivered their luggage. Prince was in his suit by himself when I got there and we spoke briefly as I put his belonging away. But he had a mysterious aura with him I remember. He was a very good brother and I miss his greatness!!
GOAT n my book. Against the grain , did it his way. Decades long run. Ups & down. Classics some weak albums but always kept it moving. I admire him so much. Determination. A GIANT that was barely over 5ft Tall
@@TMthe33rd And bass. And drums. And keys. And compose. And recording engineering. And mastering. Prince Rogers Nelson was the real renaissance music-man.
He sure did. His band was so tight. All in their prime, top of their game. This performance is joyous from the first to the last note. It’s so great to have him on film like this. I am enjoying people’s memories of him, too. He is just mesmerizing. Always was. I’m the same age as Prince. His music brings me right back to some truly great times. I saw him later in his career on the Musicology tour. It was, and he was epic. I remember like it was yesterday. And his presence on stage was very elegant. Beautiful artist.
Prince has not gotten enough respect when it comes to him being a Great Bandleader. But it is something that True Prince Fans and friends already know. He was A "Great Maestro". Every band member in all of his groups were extensions of his musical soul. He also got the best out of those musicians. They often surprised themselves. But Prince had a way of motivating, Encouraging, and challenging other musicians. He knew their strengths and weaknesses better than they did.
CorrectVision3 I agree, the late Maurice white , did accomplish alot founder of EW&F prince and Maurice white mind me.of each other, only thing Maurice was not flashy, but great leader, composer, arranger, musician , producer, he did not dance like prince, and not wild like him, but they have alot in common both.artist was musical geniuses, in the 70's EWF, and prince i discover prince 1978 fell in love with him. Great performance in concert ,I had the privilege to see him twice in the 80s and Earth Wind & Fire Prince will definitely be missed there will never be another Prince. May Jehovah be with them.
That wasn't just a PERFORMANCE...that was a MUSICAL CHURCH REVIVAL! That was a coming to God moment. Prince was on another level of UNDERSTANDING! And, that band was ELITE...GEEEEZUS...THEY WAS COOKING WITH FISH GREASE!
I am stunned every time I watch this. It is a work of art that can never be replicated. The whole show was perfectly orchestrated. Not humanly possible.
They don’t make ‘em like they used to. Both MJ and Prince were entertainers, not singing in a studio w auto tune assisting. Multiple talents from magnificent men.
THIS IS AN EDUCATION...imagine the next morning and having to walk into homeroom(had to go to school momma didn't play that) after this the night before...SHOT OUT THE FRAME...mind was elsewhere...😍😍😘😜
i saw him in '08 STILL THE SAME.. didnt age.. still the most electrifying person... it was a very intimate audience like we were all one.. so much love and tears...ive had chills writing this comment... hes appreciative that we appreciate him. legend that will live forever
You cannot keep this kind of genius under wraps. People are seeking him anywhere he can be found. More people are discovering him and want to see/ hear his work. He would not want his work hidden now. He is music and his pleasure was performing for us. In turn, we are in awe.
c6ft2006 Had the pleasure of seeing him in 2010, and he did not stop for a good three hours. He bounced and sang and played and danced right through and damn, did he look good doing it. Looked as good stepping off the stage as he did coming on it. I'm so glad I saw him live.
I just can’t imagine anyone ever arriving on the music scene with his talent, excitement and production levels of performance. We had Little Richard, Elvis, James Brown, Bowie, Madonna and MJ but nobody comes close to Prince. All round genius. Since him who’s been at that level? The musical talent with singing n dancing? Nobody. We were so lucky to have witnessed him live. RIP legend.
james brown is a HUGE influence on prince.(as is jimi hendrix) james brown set the bar for these kinds of performances. go check out some live footage of james. there would be no prince without james brown ruclips.net/video/i4_atsdJDcQ/видео.html
Whew! That is what i call a very very highly charged performance. LOL he had his James Brown moves and then some, wow! I regret I never got to go see Prince in concert. This is awesome. He gave it all.
Prince is not a star. He is a ICON. I started listening to him when Purple Rain first came out. I was 11 years old then. Now I am 44. He was my first musical idol. When I heard he past away, was like part of me died to. He will all ways be my number 1.
I'm 40 and my mom was a fan so I grew up listening to him and continued as an adult. I don't think I've fully processed that he passed away. He was one of my favorite go-to musicians (as well as Stevie Wonder) would cycle through whatever music phase I would go through. At least we still have his music and videos/movies.
Scott David I m 44 and started at the same time my dad died on 3rd March as Prince die in the April and felt the same heartbreak it’s crazy how you have a bond connection and live for someone you never met, that’s the power or and artist and real music RIP Prince we love ye!
This man was EVERYTHING. As many have said, he IS music. But…he IS sex. He IS energy. He IS playfulness. He IS depth. He IS angst. He IS beauty. He IS funk, and fashion and fun. He IS pleasure, and pain. He sings “most people in this world are born dead, but I was born alive.” So apropos. I hope he found his way back home. ❤
" “most people in this world are born dead, but I was born alive.” So apropos." Apropos indeed. He needed his narcissism to give him the confidence to achieve what he did with his music and performance. This performance is outstanding. I see the influence of James Brown and MJ here, but Prince certainly makes it his own.
I'm 51 years old. I saw him perform 2x. Even looking back I'm just amazed at the energy that he and the band had when they did a live show. I don't know of any other artists that could top this.
Not top, but maybe a close second would be a Tina Turner concert. Her jamming for hours in those stilettos was incredible. Still agree Prince is better😎
how can people even say that pop music nowaday's is good. jesus...take every Grammy winner of the past 10 years...get them together...they can't even clean Prince's shoes. What a genius Prince was.
My wife and I saw Prince perform at the United Center about 7 years ago. We spent $200 a piece for tickets. After the 3 hour jam session I felt like we got over on Prince. The most electrifying entertainer of the 20th Century
"I'm not done yet!" He sure knew how to work an audience. He left it all out on the stage every night. The fact he was able to do all those insane moves and spins while wearing pumps is just incredible. Sheila and Wendy sound so good and look fabulous in this performance too.
Shane Anthony And then he'd have the nerve and gall to go to either the recording studio and work some more or go perform ANOTHER mini concert somewhere else on a whim.
Yep and he had it even into his 40s. He was just one amazing human being. And remember. In 88 especially, he'd do a 2 hour show and then do an aftershow after that. Always at full throttle
It truly is unbelievable! ..... makes one kinda sad to realize that the energy he expanded 4 the fans at his shows is what led to his being in so much pain at the end .... :'( very sad
It's called Cocaine. One of his best friends..the legendary Stevie Nicks..was also on it and they both shared the same dealers. Hell..many of the biggest stars from that ear were on it too. It's just what you did..and nobody knew of the dangers of the drug. Janis Joplin..Jimi Hendrix (Prince's idol)..John Lennon..etc..all did hard drugs..and so what? It obviously didn't hurt them..though I personally don't do any. Long live the legends!
I could watch Prince forever. His vocals, guitar abilities, and flat out performance are legendary. The world lost a bright light when he passed. Thank God for Prince Thank God for his music. Thank God that he’s living with him
No one EVER will replace Prince. I'm blessed & thankful for having had this chance to see him performed live and it was electricity and 🔥💜 each time. He was simply The MUSIC. God, 👁️ miss him so so so much and it was never enough :'(
You know I was always a Prince fan and I thought I really knew his music. He was always one of my all time favorite musicians. When he passed I began playing all of the hundreds of songs and basically thanks to modern nano tech I became a reborn fan. I care for the Artist now at a level I never could of imagined. So here I am today once again appreciating the man even more than those years ago. I love and respect him even more since his passing. You know what they say "You dont know what you got until it's gone" I am now a SUPER, SUPER, SUPER fan today.
💯! I love him & his music so much that I've told my daughter that there's only one song that's to be played at my memorial service......Holy River by Prince!
Yeah I feel this. Somehow I now have SUCH grief & mourning for him. And I see HOW TRULY TRULY SPECIAL HE WAS! To love and devotion he had for his Muse is sadly something completely unseen today.
Yes, I feel the same way. I saw him twice; but not the energy he has in this video. I saw him at a State University where he sang all his songs and played several instruments. The 2nd concert was very low key; and he sang a lot of slow music. I didn't get that and was disappointed. I would have loved to see him with the energy he has in this video.
When Prince broke into that praise break/two step that he learned at the Lake Minnetonka Holy River Baptist Church at 11:39-12:05, that's my favorite part of this video!
He had to be in peak physical condition to “explode” like that. I’ve. Never come close to seeing anyone dance and perform with that much passion and no n-stop energy. He probably had a work/ out gym in his house…. INCREDIBLE 🕺
Jamal Sam he did. Once. Not by his choosing. I think he was lip syncing the most beautiful girl in the world. So in protest, as only Prince could do, he performed with a lollipop in his mouth. It was funny.
okay, you need to watch Billy Jack Bitch 1995 AMA. He lip synced. He did this quite a bit on award shows because he was dancing but in this case Warner would not allow him to sing live because he had just changed his name.
Jamal Sam ,he never did he is like EW,f all in one , pure talented that is why he got rid of revolution, want to change back up singer, I have been a fan since 1978 j He did not believe in lip sync , only doing video , rip my Jehovah be with him and all.
Now That I'm 52 I see this a whole different way. I thought 4 years of cheerleading messed my hips, neck and joints. I couldn't imagine this for decades. He TRULY gave us his ALL.💜
Same here as well. Years of high intense aerobics/step class and running 9 flights of stairs up/down multiple times a day for years - in heels. And of course dancing the nights away to Prince and many more. I'm paying the price and so did Prince. Love the man, he did all he can until he couldn't anymore. Bless his weary soul, now in the afterlife. 💜💜💜🌟⭐✴
The only thing MJ have on prince is he came before prince and was already a house hold name.we all know MJ is king of pop but ask yourself about the GODFATHER of SOUL. That's were MJ And prince came got to pay back 💯💯💯

How about I watched this three times in a row before I went to bed last night, two times before I left the house today and just got through watching it again? The fact that he had the genius to dance like that and keep the band tight is golden. And SHEILA E? YAAASSS LAWD!

What great commentary! YES!
I was at this show. The first of six times seeing him. No one else will ever come close to his genius.
So lucky...
Best musician Evah...
No one - Ever, I agree!
Lucky you, what a performance to see live!!
You are absolutely right... A genius
Wow! Wish i had been at this show. I was at one in the 80's and caught a guitar pick he threw out in the audience. You are absolutely correct...no one will come close to his genius. Well said!!
I do hope before he passed Prince knew how much he was loved . Such a talent .
I am hoping so too. 💕
Sadly, i think he is more loved now than when alive.. im sure hes looking down on us smiling though as he always did in life as well. His spirit is Godly 💜🩵💙
Prince was the only person who could wear high heels, satin and lace and be the sexiest person in the whole building. The world lost a brilliant treasure when he passed away
he only wore the high heels cos he hated being so short
Freaks come out at night singer was a kool cat also who could pull off styles and still wyle the ladies
And take your woman with your permission
You haven't seen me in heels and lace
Totally 👍
I once read that Warner Brothers used to take their other artists to Prince concerts to show them what a great concert should look like.
Glen McClure If the artist need to learn then yes, Prince was the man to see.

God has his back. God bless him

Everybody who meet Prince mentions that mystery about him, thats cool.
Prince did it HIS WAY. From the beginning to the end. Anything different and we probably wouldn't be having this discussion about how he was the GOAT.
GOAT n my book. Against the grain , did it his way. Decades long run. Ups & down. Classics some weak albums but always kept it moving. I admire him so much. Determination. A GIANT that was barely over 5ft Tall

Not only was he a brilliant performer, he had a hell of a band, too.
He ain't done yet!

I'm 40 and my mom was a fan so I grew up listening to him and continued as an adult. I don't think I've fully processed that he passed away.
