    I was interested in the HD 8 as I'm a Quantum 2626 user and was wondering what I'd get with the latest model. However, I've got 8 combo jacks on the front of my 2626 which seem to have moved round the back (and I don't have easy access to the back of my rack). Also, somebody told me that the RTL of these "newer" interfaces is far worse than the old Quantum line but I don't know if that's correct.
    Can you confirm the RTL of these interfaces as compared to the Quantum 2626 and original Quantum?
    And am I missing something about the inputs because having no combo jacks on the front of a rack mounted unit is kind of restricting?

    • @MightyJophin
      @MightyJophin Месяц назад +10

      This new line is in every way a downgrade from your existing interface. The added latency that usb-c brings to the table alone makes your 2626 superior. This new quantum is just a more expensive Studio 1824c with some added bells and whistles that quite frankly do not justify the increase in cost over the 2626. Keep your 2626.

    • @bigstewdio
      @bigstewdio Месяц назад +9

      @@MightyJophin yeah, I did wonder that tbh but thought Presonus may want to correct me if my initial impressions were wrong. Are there any official latency figures for the new line because if it really is back to 1824c levels (which I had and returned for the 2626) then Presonus should not be calling this a Quantum.

      @@harpoleon6806No one that I have seen has said the new usb-c quantum HD sucks. The only comments that I have read has been around if the New usb-c quantum HD features warrants the release. (This is relative) If it does for you, keep being glad you bought it. I assume the increased latency over the thunderbolt release is a nonissue for you, and slightly better conversion is your primary reason for the purchase. That sounds like the extra 500 dollars spent makes sense for you.

    Please answer this my friend, I am currently using the IK Axe I/O for it’s incredible Hi-Z inputs with active/passive pickup adaptation, and variable impedance with jfet and pure settings as well. In addition, the Neural DSP quad quartex gives precision control over the instrument input as well through its interface. So far, I am considering the Quantum HD to replace my TB3 quantum 2626. I cannot find any information as to a juxtaposition of specifications between my Quantum 2626 and this new HD. Nor do I believe that it’s Presonus level of standards to have failed to make the Hi-Z inputs as flexible as products like the Axe I/O. I like that you “worked with Fender” on them. But this means little to me from a technical standpoint. What are the capabilities to vary the inputs to adjust to my different guitar tones and pickups, and if they do not currently exist have you planned for a software update that will enable that feature? Please juxtapose the Axe I/O with this HD 2 for guitar players, pros & cons. Thank you!

    Man, so far, I love Studio One, but the HD8 is giving me glitches I haven't experienced since Windows XP, lol. My mic will sound robotic. The only way to fix it is to change the buffer to the same number or change it completely. I can't get the pipeline to work either because the output isn't sending a signal out, even though the send lights up. No return ever comes, hooked directly into my compressor, and the interface has a return, so it definitely gets the signal. My only guess is it really isn't sending a signal out. So far, it's kind of disappointing to cost so much. 😅

      @@harpoleon6806 DSP effects on inputs (comp, reverb, delay, chorus) are essential IMO for recording vocals realtime, without hearing delays from the DAW. For example, the Revelator series (that I own) offers these DPS effects, although unfortunately the drivers are still bugged (especially their reverb). I hoped they would do something better in this series...

    Why would anyone using a previous quantum with thunderbolt 2-3 ever consider a usb-c model? As if a re-amp output and an auto-gain feature would ever make up for the increased latency usb-c brings. Quantum was supposed to be a flagship model interface. The Studio 1824c did everything this does minus auto-gain and re-amp yet, the new quantum costs 500 dollars more? Lol, Fender should stick with making guitars and keep out of the newly acquired Presonus camp. Just my thoughts.

      Hopefully some people will post real world measurements soon, but from what is reported in a DAW, it's about 4 ms at 32 sample / 48 kHz and about 3 ms at 32 sample / 96 kHz. Going to depend on your computer too and which model of Quantum (ES or HD).
