- Our main November boat video is an unusual Maurice Griffiths design. His 1960's Leeboard Waterwitch Mk II is commonly known as a 'Barge Boat' and once you've watched the video - you'll see why. We joined owner Tim Fenner, on the Blackwater, up on the east coast of the UK for a summer sail in overcast winter type conditions. Please share and subscribe and thanks for watching. She was getting along just loverly.
Tim lovely video! Very nearly bought a bilge keeled Waterwitch some time ago at Tollesbury. Perhaps will look again once I finish and sell my three current boat! Cheers Mat
There's a bilge keel one on boat shed for 8k right now. That's what made me type it into RUclips. It's beautiful.
May see you about some day as im from Oulton Broad :-)
I've got to admit I don't like leeboards because they look ugly. But they do serve a purpose and I admire those who keep this aspect of sailing alive.
More videos Please!!!! Love you Brits!!!
Love the flushdeck. Leeboards, to me, look a bit ugly - but I love their functionality.
What the heck is a "chicken table"?
I got leeboards on my sailing canoe and kayak works good you can land anywhere
Very nice cabin space but the foot path around that cabin look like it would take your ankles. Looks comfy.
Such a bloody good vid.
What a wonderful classic! I only wish there was some interior camera work, especially if the gentleman is looking to sell it.
pdutube thanks for posting- you’ll have to watch it again they are all there
@@myclassicboat9083 Hah! Right in the middle! If it was a Kraken it would have eaten me!
Thames Barges can be very close winded.. I met one in the Thames estuary and he was sailing closer than me and i was on a seamaster 23.. I was a bit shocked tbh.
Depends on the rig and keel, I would imagine.
Some barge leaboards draw 14 feet!
@@smacksman1 That explains it. Thames Barges sail very well and statesmanly . They new how to build a boat back then.
@@Kitiwake Sprits'l gaff cutter or ketch, 80ft +-, no power, crewed by a man and a boy and a dog - but the dog had to be pretty clever.
This would be better if you hadn’t used so much wide angle lens. IOTA was a famous Waterwitch owned by Simon Simpson whose wife wrote a book about their voyages in the South Pacific. Great design very roomy.
I like old holland paintings with these boats with wooden things against sliding out of wind (on russian it is called "schwerts") on sides.
Don't be downhearted about not pointing to windward as high as a Thames barge. . Thames barges are very good to windward. Amazingly.
Can you Turn the dog bark down? Its a little too loud for headset users!
Oh & Gentleman dont sail to windward.
Haha "Lovely boat but it will sail like a chicken table. So I thought to myself, 'That doesn't sound good.'"
May I ask: what is the sailboat shown on 25s?
Henry TSAI I will try and find out for you, shot the picture a few years ago and can’t remember , she’s a little beauty, was on the east coast near Pin Mill
She's a Tamarisk 24. Looks like "Ellen", then owned by artist Claudia Myatt, but now down in the West Country.
Thanks !
Dominic Buckley wow thanks Dom for that reply
Very Cute Lil Boat! I'd Give Him $1000 For Her w/The Trailer! Thanks
Still for sale?
What is a chicken table?
Josef we are trying to find out the real meaning rather than a table you put chickens on
@@myclassicboat9083 yeah, I figured it wasnt literal.
I'm sad to say - we have no idea what the meaning of a chicken table is. Even owner Tim is confused.
@@myclassicboat9083 I suppose that could also explain why the boat doesn't sell.
Rename : "Seaplough".
That guy had , " used car salesman " all over him. Nice boat though..
Everything is for sale lol
One ugly boat
Each to ones own....
Probably had something to do with why it didn't sell.
Josef hi mr positive
@@myclassicboat9083 on the positive side, it looks nice inside.
