HUGE THANKS to ExpressVPN for offering all Food Ranger viewers 3 months free and 49% off their yearly package using this link: ExpressVPN.com/Thefoodranger . Travelers need ExpressVPN to stay safe online and to unblock any site. I personally use it for Netflix, even while at home in Canada, but also while traveling to unblock content and episodes that are geoblocked, and I also use it for security, because airport wifi and hotel wifi is often very insecure, leaving my data vulnerable. By connecting to one of their servers around the world, it’s just like my computer or phone is in that location, and all data sent while connected to their VPN is secure, safe, and private from others to see, so I know that my data won’t be hacked or looked at by others. Thanks so much for watching, and we have tons more videos coming up for you! Please leave me a comment below letting me know what you thought about this episode, thanks so much!!!
Oh yeah! We had a HUGE food tour in Kuala Lumpur! 11 amazing meals! This barely scratches the surface of Malaysian food! You would need to spend 2 months to eat it all! Follow my insta for photos of our journey! Www.instagram.com/thefoodranger
I love Nasi Lamak, I used to have a home cooked vendor as the Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. His wife made them every day, and he sold them to those of us in the know! And, theirs had twice that amount of anchovy and peanut. Though no diss intended for that excellent dish. I'm recalling a memory from around 1987-1988. Good meal at University!!

I don't understand why Malaysians/Indonesians have to fight or throw fire about food. Our food has tons of influences from Arabian countries, Egyptian, Indian and Portuguese. We had our spices from traders and we start to develop flavors from that. Food is food and I don't give a damn where it came from. If you mix goddamned politic into culinary, I would not talk to you. Stop being so narrow and just enjoy the taste.
When you say "Our food has tons of influences from Arabian countries, Egyptian, Indian and Portuguese. I'd love to go to your country and try the foods; I don't have to travel to those other countries.
Malaysian food influenced a lot by Chinese, Malay, Javanese, Indian, Arabic, Persian, Turkish, English, Portuguese, Minang etc whilst Indonesian is much distinct. Went there and taste nothing like Malaysian.
HI leong.. It's correct.. I have great and a very special recipe of making a Chicken n beef BBQ but I want to start it in Malaysia somewhere. I need partner in that... Will you? 😀
Yay, love Chu Chu and how enthusiastic she is for all of the food... just like you :D Great match and you're both so fun to watch together eating all of that delicious stuff.
Malaysia is a heaven for different ethnic food and cuisine, it is very difficult for any tourist not to find his favorite food for the day meal in public , there is restaurant, hawker center, street food cart in almost every where you go.
When I was in Rome, they drove like crazy people all over the roads. We had to run to get across streets and the cycles didn’t slow down, only the cars!
I'm so Glad I'm going to Malaysia again, I miss the food. Like, Singapore and Malaysia are so close to each other, but the food standard is so different
Great video, Trevor. Had no idea KL street food was so good. I mean, I knew it was good, but didn't know it had that level of awesomeness. I've got to get their soon to try it.
That nasi lemak with fried chicken is RM14 WOAHH EXPENSIVE. Although the basic nasi lemak only contain: rice, sambal, hard boiled egg/sunny side up egg, cucumber slices, anchovies and peanuts :D Other than that, you can add more like fried chicken, cockles and more! Nasi lemak is like Malaysian's ramen. You can add a lot of toppings. I'm so happy that you enjoy our food in Malaysia. I wish you have a good trip here! Also visit other regions of Malaysia like Penang, Sabah and Sarawak. They have a lot of food to offer!!
This was an enjoyable, fun and very informative video about some of the foods available in K.L. You both did a good job. We will definitely be watching this video again just before we visit K.L. in the future, very inspiring! Best Regards from Maxi & Maro - Copenhagen, Denmark.

Thanks for your video-introduction for so many delicious Malaysian foods.
Hello my friend 👋
How are you?
Almost all Nasi Lemak dishes in the cities are modernised. Nasi Lemak in its original form does not contain fried chicken.
Taufiq Othman I've never been to Malaysia but I always thought it was curry chicken. Or maybe it's not too. ?
Christine Lee It is somewhat similar to KFC-style chicken but with Indian twist.
At its most essential, nasi lemak is the coconut rice, sambal, anchovies and nuts. And, I guess, cucumbers. Ain't nothing wrong with the modernized version. The fried chicken at the place they went to is pretty bomb and in a 100 years, what's new today will be considered traditional, so eat whatever makes you happy.
Stephenwwkay How could you say that? It is like saying that California roll sushi is the traditional sushi in next 100 years.
I would not mind the modernised nasi lemak though. The thing that bothered me the most was the price of the nasi lemak. Overpriced...
Chu Chu and Trevor will definitely have a relationship together lol...

As a malaysian, i feelsbad because the price is bullshit, its should be way cheaper than all of that.. why do people love to trick the foreigner..
Rabiah Yusof I think it is not as the portion is big
Rabiah Yusof makan nasi lemak ayam pagi2 pon x sampai 5 ringgit
Rabiah Yusof No it's pretty cheap #livinginthecity
Rabiah Yusof have you seen how much they ordered?!?!? its like a meal for 4

(Late but not the point) I do have to say, while each and every one of the places you've been to does really represent Malaysia very well, it's wayyyyy too pricey for any actual Malaysian to eat on a daily basis HAHAHAHA
The shown prices are cheap compared to Mexico, and the size of the portions. Only 10% of the population can afford beef or fish.
