Are there any characters that are grapplers ?

No, no traditional grapplers in the game. Some characters have grab moves, but not an entire kit built around grabs. I'm sure one will come soon though. I'd keep an eye out.

Most of the tanks have grapling ability like Supe and Jason from what I know and seen. I don't own all of the tanks and characters from the game but those two definitely have grappling tech. I don't know about Taz special neutral being a grap when he swallow his opponent (one opponent limitation) if you can consider that as grap tech same with the dog from Adventure time have similar swallow of his opponent from Taz.

I think they want a character solely as a grappler. Smash has a few and so does brawlhalla.
Most tanks if not almost all of them have one grab move, but that's not really what they are looking for I think?

Yes, there is a PvE mode. Can be done solo or duo.
