"Earl Scruggs: A Player's Guide:" Now available as a new class on Peghead Nation!

I'm excited to share the news that my eight-part workshop series "Earl Scruggs: A Player’s Guide" is now available as a stand alone course on Peghead Nation. I've been studying all things Earl for over fifty years now and I can't wait to share with you what I know that goes beyond the "Earl Scruggs and the Five-String Banjo" book.
This course is designed for all levels of players past true beginners. I've designed this series as a graduate level course exploring Earl's playing from his earliest professional days with Bill Monroe through the 1960's with assignments for each class which include watching RUclips live and recorded performances and reading from our course text "Earl Scruggs and Foggy Mountain Breakdown" by Thomas Goldsmith (an excellent book!). We'll cover three to four tunes & songs in most classes, discussing left- and right-hand fingering, tone, drive and much, much more. Along the way, you'll learn some of Earl's hottest licks along with strategies to create your own solos and back-up in Scruggs style. We'll also cover fiddle tune and slow song backup, playing in different keys and tunings, and, well, much, much more.
Charlie Cushman from the Earls of Leicester joins for the fifth session, sharing his extensive knowledge of Earl's playing. Thomas Goldsmith, the author of "Earl Scruggs and Foggy Mountain Breakdown," joined me for the seventh session, where we discuss his book "Earl Scruggs and Foggy Mountain Breakdown."
