Back exhausted is held on by 4 screws. 2 on exhaust pipe, which is easiest to due from the top(not really easy), and 2 mounting it to the back of the engine
Great video I have Hyundai Tucson 2.0L petrol and the coolant coming out from back is it because of head gasket and I need all the torque specs for cylinder bolts and side timing chain cover bolts and for valve cover bolts and the engine bolts I want to change head gasket.
I am replacing the head gasket on a 2013 Hyundai Elantra Limited, and some how a dowel pin came out possibly somewhere on the head, or camshaft carrier, but I didn’t see where it came from. This is driving me crazy!! Can you possibly help with location of dowel pins, it is larger diameter than the two that the head gasket fits over.
One thing they don't talk about is once the timing cover is off the engine must be supported through the rest of the process unless you keep a jack stand under the car when you take breaks(timing cover has the engine mount attached to it). My subaru forester had a engine bracket underneath so no need for support.
Do I really have to take out all the parts from the bottom of the engine or can I just take out the parts from top of the engine until I can reach the headgasket?
You need to remove the oil pan, because it’s bolted to the timing cover on the side. If you forget it and break the timing cover it’s gonna cost you a lot more than you think.
hello I have a question about about my 2010 Hyundai elantra I have hard time putting gas in and then I have a hard time getting it to startup I replace. the purge valve and still having problems with it need some help
Great video! Lots of helpful details. I'd like to know more about disconnecting the exhaust. Do you have any tips for how to do that if those bolts are rusty and won't break loose?
What is the name of the piece he removed at 40:56??? I tried to create a new thread in it with helicoil and the manual drill bit broke off inside of the hole. I can’t remove it so I’ll have to replace the part.
What did you use to clean inside the block? Those pistons are very clean! Also, where are the areas you need to lay beads of silicone on (besides the corners you lifted up)
Exactly how do you manipulate that front cover to remove it? My car is a 2018 kia forte 2.0 the exact same engine. I even removed the coolant hose to allow the engine to raise just a little more but the cover still wont clear the crankshaft!
One question? Did this gasket just fail? I have a 2014 elantra that's burning coolant and everything is ok (fans, thermostat etc) I. I removed the head and I can't even see where the it failed. I just wanted to know if it's common for this gaskets to fail. Car has 106k miles
Were you able to identify? 😅 asking because I am in same situation. The car engine oil doesn’t show any signs of mixing or any of what could be the reason but still it keeps draining.
@@Mightybrownie yeah, this is common happens to this type of engine a lot when it gets overheated, you might just hear gargling in the coolant reservoir. It may not show up in your oil.
@@youeladamas7840 so you mean to say head gasket would be okay just the tank keeps losing because of the engine design? If so what was the solution that worked for you that you would suggest now?
@ in some cases that might be the issue if you have a crack in your overflow bottle or because of the plastic that is used on the radiator sometimes cracks. Also just as simple as the radiator cap being too old and the spring going bad It leaks through there, but only at high pressure. But in many cases, I’ve noticed it’s the head gasket only on the cooling channel path near the cylinder wall, so it doesn’t actually get into the oil unless it’s a heavy leak. it seems to be caused by the engine overheating, then starts a cycle of losing heat to inside the car. Then losing misfiring in that cylinder and overheating. If you start the car and look under the hood at the overflow bottle, if you hear gargling, then it’s the head gasket or see any bubbles constantly coming up. Sealers work for a short period of time but the main issue that people find is the water pump may start to leak from the sealer. So it’s not good to leave them in there for a long period of time if you do use them as an option.
Hello i have a Hyundai elantra 2012 it hesitates only when trying to accelerate not on steady gaz or cruise problem is no engine light trying to figure out the problem
Do you have the part number for the head bolts? My 2016 - bolts are all the same size and have washers, but the ones that came are different sizes and only 4 have the washers.
Why do I need to remove the oil bucket at the bottom at all ? Why do I need to support the engine from the bottom when I only remove the top of the motor?
When I pulled out the cylinder head. 2 small parts fell off. It looks like a socket without any threads. Where does it go. It looks like it was just sitting in a hole and fell off. Help please
Did you figure this out? It sounds like the dowel pin fell out. They are used the align the head so it can stay in place and not slide around on the gasket before torturing it down. Go to 47:30 , from the very top left of the engine block mating surface, you see a small bolt hole, a water jacket hole and right to the right of that hole is a metal cylinder sticking out of the head. That is a dowel pin. It fits in that hole and holds the head on that peg.
I have a 2012 Hyundai elantra limited i took it to the shop and they told me there is metal shavings in the oil and there is low compression in the cylinders they told me i need a new motor but i would like a second opinion the car turns over but wont start i replaced the spark plugs and ignition coils so far any ideas
it has to be shining clean no blue green purple marks of burnts, and ofcurse with finger you shouldn't feel any scratches. regardless, head always should go to machine shop for inspection otherwise its a risk no mechanic wants to take
I have a question for you guys. My mechanic found 13 decent sized metal fragments in the oil pan of my 2009 infiniti g37x. He has no idea what is causing it and the check engine and master warning light is on and we can't figure out what is causing it. I have pictures of the fragment if there is a way to send it to you guys I will do that. He found this when he went in to replace the galley gasket and found both gaskets and the timing completely in tact. The shifter is also locking up too and having a hard time changing gears unless you push up on it (it is an automatic). I do not want to give up on this car and I am already out $1000 for the labor on the gasket that wasn't even blown. The VVTC solenoid was also replaced for $700. This car is bleeding me money but I love it and don't want to get rid of it. It also keeps going into limp mode and when he cleared the codes the car ran perfectly with all the power available but it would quickly go right back into limp mode and the light comes right back on. I don't want to have to take it to Nissan but it is looking like I may have to. Do you guys have any idea what could be causing this? I really need help. Thanks.
ngl, i was feeling like i was able to do this myself an save money, but when it came to the head bolts being torqued 90⁰, i feel like just paying apprx 3k to have someone do it for me lol idk, i may take a shot. itll b my first time doing real heavy labor on my car 😅
I thought the same thing. Unprofessional imo. I found it a distraction while viewing what is otherwise a good instructional video. Surely that large, floppy watch must get in the way when fiddling around in cramped situations...plus it can't be doing the watch dial/crystal any favours. :)

Best video I've ever watched... thank you!.. if I win the lottery or something I'll remember this
Thanks!
Thank you so much, you’re saving me 8k.
These videos are very much helpful. Am almost complete with putting my engine together
Wouldnt it be a good idea to have the top rebuilt while it was disassembled?
Very informative video. Thank you
Subbed. I’d really like to have seen y’all replace the valves
thats ONLY job of a machine shop.
Excellent video ! As i watch, but wait there's more disassembly 😅😅😅
U have very detail information than others. U are elantra expert.
Why you removed the oil pan? Can I hold engine if I put a lift jack on transmission side??
why did you remove the oil pan? Why did your remove the crank pulley? How did you get the exhaust separated?
Oil pan is connected to timing belt cover by 2 oil pan screws
Back exhausted is held on by 4 screws. 2 on exhaust pipe, which is easiest to due from the top(not really easy), and 2 mounting it to the back of the engine
Excelente curso muy bien gracias muy bien explicando super bueno gracias
Deberías poner video como armar todo por completo gracias por compartir tus conocimientos

Is guide good for a veloster turbo 1.6 gdi engine.

Same

Why remove the oil pan and camshafts? Are the cylinder head bolts under the camshaft?

exactly this guy shows everything but that and im to that point and it doesnt look fun
Soak it in Blaster or other penetrating free-all oil

upper camshaft carrier on cylinder head
What did you use to clean inside the block? Those pistons are very clean! Also, where are the areas you need to lay beads of silicone on (besides the corners you lifted up)
Is it safe to double Head gasket or use a thicker one if you only change piston and rings
You don’t ever want to stack 2 head gaskets, even if you had your cylinder head resurfaced/shaved.
Please take off your beauty watch😂😂.
Nice video 🎉
does the o rings need to be replaced fuel injectors?
If the O-rings are chewed up or dry, they may need to be replaced. Some kits come with the O-rings.
Exactly how do you manipulate that front cover to remove it? My car is a 2018 kia forte 2.0 the exact same engine. I even removed the coolant hose to allow the engine to raise just a little more but the cover still wont clear the crankshaft!
How do you remove the AC vent on the passenger side of the 2014 Hyundai Elantra. Mine seems to be blocked. Thanks
If you haven’t found it already, it’s usually behind the glove compartment. They’re usually two knobs on the inside that helps it come down.
One question? Did this gasket just fail? I have a 2014 elantra that's burning coolant and everything is ok (fans, thermostat etc) I. I removed the head and I can't even see where the it failed. I just wanted to know if it's common for this gaskets to fail. Car has 106k miles
most likely it failed due to deteriorating

Are the head bolts torquing with aluminum block threads
How do you relearn the throttle on a 2013 elantra 1.8 L?

You guys are awesome. Thank you for sharing your talents.
Hello i have a Hyundai elantra 2012 it hesitates only when trying to accelerate not on steady gaz or cruise problem is no engine light trying to figure out the problem
Hi , is this procedure for Hyundai engine code G4FC
Do you have the part number for the head bolts? My 2016 - bolts are all the same size and have washers, but the ones that came are different sizes and only 4 have the washers.
I see why they charge a lot of money to fix a head gasket..
Alot of work
Why do I need to remove the oil bucket at the bottom at all ? Why do I need to support the engine from the bottom when I only remove the top of the motor?
Don’t need to take oil pan off. You need to support engine so you can remove the motor mount. The motor mount is in the way.
smart man nobarika
How about a how to Ls or 2jz swap an Elantra?
Great video!
Another excellent video
Great video! Thank you!
Why do you have two air intake filters?
Thanks for the video, teacher
You didn't replace the cylinder head screws, did you?
To the best of my (somewhat limited) knowledge, they are not reusable, they should be replaced.

U didn’t showed the exaust connection, I’m stuck there
How to do the timing?
What do u need to know about the timming
This is great video... and now I definitely don't want to do it.
heat on the hose will make the removal easy
Thanks for the video
عمل نظيف و لطيف شكرا 🌹
