Wow what a great run! Sub 1 minute in Metropolis Act 1 AND 2 without glitches, those strats were incredible! Props on taking nearly 30 seconds off the record at once, too!
How is it not a glitch when our mustached foe, Dr. Robotnik, outruns Sonic the Hedgehog? For sustained runs, Sonic the Hedgehog clocks in at 767 miles per hour and his max speed reached is 186,000 miles per second, or in other words, the speed of light. Sonic can't sustain running at the speed of light, but he can regularly run faster than the speed of sound. So far, the fastest any human has run is about 27½ miles per hour, a speed reached (briefly) by sprinter Usain Bolt. Given the data, naturally, we can only conclude that this is a glitch, voiding this run for the glitchless category, or that this run is fake.
The devs forgot to have Sonic's sprite not change when in spin dash position on the spring once it is activated, I guess they didn't think players would hold a spindash position while using them. Just a quirk in cosmetics
@@solarcrystal5494 Although it's a cosmetic glitch, it doesn't benefit the speedrun in any way. The rules explicitly state that clips or other glitches can occur as long as they don't actually save time. If the game maintained the correct spin dash sprite for Sonic throughout the seesaw jump would you still call that technique a glitch?
The gate trick is just manipulation, he didn't exploit a glitch. Maneuvering that way in the level makes the game think that Tails is approaching from behind the gate, which makes the gate open. Touching the ramp behind the gate with Sonic activates a flag that tells the game that the first half of the level is complete, thus changing Sonic's path to the lower ramp
All you're doing is moving tails to another path while you stay on that same path. By your logic then jumping through a one way platform or ground is a glitch.

How is holding right not a glitch?
Congrats on the WR!
Ermmm... pretty sure you glitched. I saw you inside Dr. Robert which clearly wasn't Yuji Naka's pure intention. Stupid SRC mods allowing this crap!
