Oakland achieved their goals in a matter of 2 years, defunding the police and electing DA Price.
Ms Price brings up the old "build schools or build jails" discussion. That is always a discussion worth having but it is beyond the purview of a county DA. That is what she just doesn't want to get. She insists her primary job is to be a social reformer. It is not. Her primary job is to prosecute criminals according to the law. She's not doing a good job and THAT, not her "blackness," is why she's the subject of a recall effort. If she wants to pursue changing the laws, then she should resign and run for Congress.
If I were a criminal living in another state my goal would be to move to California especially the Bay Area. If criminals are well organized, one can make fast and money with little consequences..
