I am speaking as a person who implements Gender Equality basically girls and women but to be honest women are not even half way empowered just that in your circles you only see those A class women but majority are still below and that makes men more empowered than them so feminism is just a front to protect women and ask for equitable education, employment and other opportunities however some people are hiding in feminism for their won wrong reasons.

How I wish I had tuned in that very day. I've just written a paper exploring this position...a balanced position. This conversation right here is spot on! Perhaps I should add that feminism, women empowerment and femininity are three different things. The first one is a concept gone overboard and frankly right out of the pits of hell. Yes. I said it. It pits women against men, it suggests that women can exist and are self sufficient without men and this is a downright ungodly idea. It challenges our Maker's design.
Female Empowerment (intended to correct imbalances due to historical abuse of power) has been hijacked by feminism (an extremist concept which although believed to be favouring women, is working grossly against them).
What our society needs is a balanced approach in empowering both genders. I say both because the focus these past two decades has been on the female gender leading to neglect of the male gender; which inevitably will necessitate affirmative action for the latter. Failure to recognize this as one of the reasons behind persistent gender disparity and continued cycles of abuse or gender based violence, is to bury our heads in the sand.
Gender equality and gender justice suggest a balance. Any tilting to one side creates challenges.
Each gender should be empowered but not to the detriment of the other. They must coexist peaceably and harmoniously simply because because by the Creator's design, they were meant to complement each other and not to compete with each other.
Masculinity and femininity should be encouraged in positive forms. They are part of the design...a beautiful design and each with their own power. Men should behave in a masculine manner and women in a feminine manner. None should abuse their respective powers.

I loved this conversation but I do believe that Lisa considering you are not a feminist, you should have invited one who actually is on the ground doing the work in both rural and urban communities. I applaud and appreciate the gentlemen on this conversation and their understanding.
On the conversation of work, the patriarchy still has control over the job market. From abuse of power to sexual harassment among other things. Yes, men do occasionally get abused too by their female superiors but the point I'm making is the patriarchy still has a hold of the workplace.
I do not represent myself as a feminist but I do believe that people like us should not shit on the work that the 'true' feminists are doing. Believe me they are also fighting the ones misrepresenting the movement.
Individuals that are rooted in God, (not from a patriarchal understanding of the Bible) are able to exist in their masculinity and femininity in their relationship, and each relationship can look different. My conclusion is love; love as the Bible tells it will overcome the gender battle in relationships. And it's real, not superficial. Men can empower women just as women can empower men.
For the men >> Women don't need a savior, they need a partner.
We need grace, we really need grace for ourselves and even for our interpretation of the Bible. The problem is we approach a lot of these conversations like we know all things.

Lisa I am your ardent follower and love the way you keep your content light. On this particular one I wish one one of the guests was a woman. But the gents have pulled it off well. Each role is crucial and important and can never be compared to the others. If any was ever given the others role it might be hard. At the beginning of this particular episode for once I put my self in my husbands shoes and started imagining weekly shopping lists, calling him abruptly when one of the children is sick,school fees in this January, expecting him to take care of my needs as his wife etc and I was like maybe and only maybe if it’s from a perspective of a balanced relationship where each plays their roles our roles as women are abit lighter. I am a working mother of 3 before anyone comes for me but those are my thoughts.
I will bring the women in next time. Thank you for sharing. I too put myself in my husband’s shoes and I could see that we are both dealing with some level of burden and need each other’s support

These are among the few men that are still men in this generation cause men have kinda lost it as men, they no longer know what they ought to do, it's like they're women in men's skin, that's why women have stepped up and are taking care of their children and homes,and men seem useless, most homes these days are run by women they provide and nurture, but all I can say is we truly do need God. Imagine a pregnant woman whose husband hasn't paid a dime on her medical fees or even done shopping for the child and this man goes to work everyday he is buying new clothes new perfume and he is also in the house as a "man", Lisa this generation of men is almost dead thank God for the few that are there and big applauses to them for standing in their responsibilities, this was a very good episode, hearing those men talk gave me hope that they're still those who know they are men.

Lisa our generation is full of bitter women and it's so disheartening to watch banange..You look at a 27 ,28 years old young woman calling men trash and you ask yourself how much has she adventured for her come up with such a conclusion...it's so sad...I always ask them,how big was your sample size?? Very enjoyable discussion. Both feminism and patriarchy are topics we could spend days speaking about but we still have a loooong way to go in empowering women. The world, culture and religion are set up to advance the men's agenda so pardon us if we do not speak much about them. The patriarchy is so engrained in society, even women are advancing it. Feminism has gotten a bad rep and women that have benefited from it are now shunning it. Kwegamba, zibs abound but some progress has been made and now is not the time to say enough has been done.
