I really enjoyed the way you explained things! Amazing tutorial!! I just got to know your channel, and I basically want to learn everything from you from now on lol.. Amazing job.
even if I am Korean and bad at English, I can understand what you say and do. You are greatest leader to me. Thank you so much. (I can’t show you how I feel grateful to you cause my English skill...)
just watched like 10 different vocoder tutorials on youtube and this literally blew all the others out of the water in depth and ease of understanding. fantastic vid! The only thing for me is that the vocoder wouldn't work at all when I turned off the audio of the carrier completely. I needed to change the audio in the carrier to be set to send only and then it worked for me.
great to hear that! glad that you were able to address your issue. if you had followed exactly as i had set it up in the video, it would have worked as well.
hey you did an awesome job explaining this, like you actually explained what i wanted to know, i want to do live DJ sets with a vocoder and a keytar, but i didnt knew how all of this actually worked, keep on the videos you are doing great!
Really enjoyed this very detailed instructional video. I'm just learning vocoders and this was very helpful. After watching I was successful in creating my first vocoder track. Thank you for your tutorial. Very nicely donel
Thanks a lot! That was a very clear explanation of every part of the vocoder. Before I found this video I didn't even know there was a vocoder in Ableton Live 10, and then after just 12 minutes, I feel like I know everything about how to use it :-)
I just bought the Akai MPK Mini MK3 to learn and make video game music, but never thought about doing voices with it, this is cool, I know i'm a little late off the boat to buy a midi keyboard, but I finally got one, well will arrive in a couple of days, although I never thought of doing voices this way, I have always wanted to do video game voices, so I will come back to this for sure to play aaround with, you seem to explain things quite clearly, you would make a great teacher. What other style voices can you make with this, as I also want to make true video game voices, some with a bit of noise to add to the 8bit NES style and also some to suit 16bit arcade style which has a hint of noise but hardly noticeable which is what I call arcade voices such as street fighter 2 etc, which I think sounds amazing, so that is another area I would like to learn so it's not so much a robot synth voice, as I have a pretty deep voice, I think I can pull of voices like you would hear in Mortal Kombat, so it would be interesting to see what I can do with my voice as far as used in a game, such as "Round 1", Round 2" etc, and then weapon names like "Laser", "Powerup", you get the idea, something I always wanted to do.
That's a really cool tutorial! I'd love if you could show us a little bit more on how to work with the carrier to achieve different sounds. Like, explaining what setups you can use with vocoder to get the sounds you used at the intro of this video, for instance! We have a lot of Ableton Live's tutorials on the vocoder itself but close to nothing when it comes to cool ways to setup the carrier! Nice work!
So educated! I feel overwhelmed watching. I bought a dj contoller played around with it only to return the next day. I wanna make trance and drum n bass type music maybe a midi controller is for me...
i typically wouldn't even recommend purchasing any controller for folks who are just beginning. going through learningmusic.ableton.com first would be a good way to see if you enjoy the general workflow of electronic music-making and the studying that accompanies it.
i'm not sure what you're asking since i've never mentioned the term "songify". feel free to book a lesson with me if you'd like to learn more! calendly.com/clairemarielim
the launchkey is a midi keyboard; it does not inherently produce sound. it would not function as a standalone vocoder, but could potentially be involved in vocoding if you have the right software (such as ableton live).
hey just wondering what set up your using? audio interface etc very confused tried using my iMacs internal mic to get sound and nothing.... I can see u have an akai midi controller and mic on your headphones but whats else are u running please help
my gear list for this video is in the description. if you would like individual help with your setup, feel free to book a consultation with me! calendly.com/clairemarielim/open
Really good. But I still can't get any vocoded sound, with any of my vocoder type plug ins. Using Live 10 lite. I even took a screenshot of the set up and replicaetd it.HEEEEELLPPPP
perhaps try checking exactly what your carrier and modulator are, and make sure that you have the right tracks armed. otherwise, i offer private lessons and can troubleshoot with you separately :) more info at www.clairemarielim.com/learning
disagree - one should be able use whatever tools are available to them in a given moment to be creative; upgrades can come later. it's worth reflecting on why you're leaving these kinds of arbitrary comments that aren't helpful. not looking for unsolicited feedback. bye!
HOLY MOLY. I'VE HAD ABLETON SINCE 2010 AND I HAD NO CLUE THAT'S HOW YOU MAKE THE VOCODER WORK.
thx!
you're most welcome! vocoder is one of my favorite devices; you can also get some great results by using modulators other than the voice :D
This is an extremely lucid tutorial. well done
thank you! lucidity is something to be strived for :)
I agree...complexity broken down to simplicity. That said I can better understand it. 👍🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Would Novation Launchkey 49 [MK3] MIDI Keyboard Controller work as a vocoder. I’m getting different responses online.
the launchkey is a midi keyboard; it does not inherently produce sound. it would not function as a standalone vocoder, but could potentially be involved in vocoding if you have the right software (such as ableton live).
@@dolltrick I do have Ableton live. Would this tutorial work for it or would I need to do it differently with the keyboard I have?
@@tolkienforestelf it would work the same, as long as you know how to operate your midi keyboard. nothing beats trying it out yourself!
hey just wondering what set up your using? audio interface etc very confused tried using my iMacs internal mic to get sound and nothing.... I can see u have an akai midi controller and mic on your headphones but whats else are u running please help

Do we always need a keyboard? And if so what kind?
what you'll always need is MIDI information, so no, a keyboard wouldn't be always needed!
Thank you so much
you're welcome!
Excellent!
thanks!
helpful video, thank you’

I don't want my voice to sound like my guitar, I want my guitar to sound like my voice :'(
then a vocoder might not be for you!
