Please man, insert subtitles in Portuguese (many countries, Brasil, Portugal...). I like so much your videos, but only some have subtitles in Portuguese. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experiences Hugs!
I can see the resemblance between you and the candy bust. The whole detail of the candy looks super amazing, so does the other candies in the shop. You did a great job on your rabbit John, it didn't look bad at all. 💖💖
Great content John !To everyone who is interested in going to Tokyo , Yanaka Ginza is a must visit !the shopping street is small and but lots of interesting shops ,even beyond this street ,there are temples, historical cemetery and winding roads. It is very accessible too. You just ride the JR Yamanote line to Nippori station.
The Japanese raise even the most mundane of tasks to an art form - Amezaiku is no exception. Really interesting tradition I'd not heard of before. Thank you John Daub
Your intro still makes me smile. I used to think it was cheesy...who am I kidding I still do...but MAN does it bring a smile to my face every time I click on a video. I love the authenticity and maturity that goes into each and every one of your videos. You have a gift when it comes to telling a story and I truly TRULY believe you are one of a few top Japan RUclipsrs. Mad respect John.
How many people can truly say they enjoy what they do, day in and day out. This is the kind of job I'd love to do, you are your own boss and you can make amazing edible art.
So cool! I absolutely love hearing the stories from the shopkeepers. Keeping the culture is so important! I think it is definately the reason why Japan is so interesting, because they have deep roots in their own culture. 👍😆
Yanaka Ginza is such a nice place to visit to get away from the crowds in Tokyo. The candy shop smells so good too. When I went I got a bunny holding a strawberry. I havent been able to bring myself to eat it yet!
Love it! Fantastic look into a slowly disappearing traditional sweet making art. I could sit for days watching these creations come to fruition. Is it mean to know that it only takes a couple minutes to make them vanish. Great stuff as always John.
Ha! You wanted to make the candy a surprise at the end but you used it as your thumbnail. Love Japanese crafts so please continue exploring in that area if you can. Temari balls or mizuhiki knotted envelopes specifically. Thanks 🙏🏼.
I really love your channel. I can spend 3hours watching your videos. It's my goal to travel in Japan and watching your videos motivates me even more. Thank you! The candy looked like you by the way :)
Very cool. It's good that a younger generation wants to help protect an artform that is really fascinating to watch. I would definitely get one if it could make the trip to the States.
Love the videos on all your channels :) I won´t lie, they kept me going after a (for me) really serious heartbreak, which still will not let me go. I enjoy your content and you as a person
Wow! .. that was truly amazing ... more than John's bust(I appreciate the details truly praise worthy for the piece of art) I loved that Pegasus ... my god that was just unbelievable.
Absolutely love your videos! Tokyo was my first big trip on my own and I watched all of your videos and it got me so excited for my first experience there and every time I watch your videos it makes me want to go back soon. Hope you always make these videos, thank you for doing what you do 🙂
It looks like you! Great traditional art and keeping it alive by creating more than just animals is what good for popularity and can encourage new clientele 👍🏽
They look Fantastic John! The amount of detail that can be put into this traditional art is limitless and I believe more modern designs in the future will have an increase in demand for custom orders sustaining this traditional skilled trade. Very nice video! Nice work!
This candy making video was really sweet! I would say that making candy sculptures is definitely an art. I would buy two of each and keep one on display as a collector's item and one to have as a sweet treat. I really love the candy sculpture they made of you❤👍
quick note, the man said he had "a oppotunity". then "to protect the culture we should connect people to continue". And finally, this was a very unique and interesting episode, I had never heard of this before. When you said don't add air holes, I laughed.
The resemblance is there. Nice packaging & idea to customise! I was at this shop last summer but they were closed on tuesdays. Gotta catch them next trip! Yanaka is a lovely neighborhood.
This was a lot of fun to watch! The Amezaiku is so whimsical! The one in your likeness looks exactly like you. LOL. This place is now on my list of places to visit in Japan. My sweet tooth will be happy.
Nice professional quality video! The effort really shows. Keep it up! Your bust looks "Japanized" with the whiter skin and big eyes. BTW, your rabbit looks like Anubis. :-D
Well, then, you are a master of the craft, good sir! If they ever need a Rabicorn expert, they know who to call. 😊😊😊 Thank you for replying to my comment, John!!!
Oh wow! So beautiful! And such attention to details *ÔoÔ* It's nearly a pity to eat them! I agree the limit is thin between art and candy! Great new video John!
2:14 stretching it also adds air and turns it white. I watch so many Lofty Pursuits videos where they make hard candies and he always mentions that when they stretch the candy that it makes it white.
"Find out at the end of the video" But John, you used the sugar model in the thumbnail!
ac3ofspades878 oh yeah!! I forgot 😂 well you get a nice story on it then!
@ONLY in JAPAN That does look like you, but the nose looks like it's drooping... *giggles* But it's a good likeness
word brother
WOW!! The candy looks too BEAUTIFUL to eat!!
yes
yeah i kinda wanna do that now!
Please man, insert subtitles in Portuguese (many countries, Brasil, Portugal...). I like so much your videos, but only some have subtitles in Portuguese. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experiences Hugs!
STOP KILLING WHALES.
Fake name u don't know anything
The candies looked too cute and cool to eat. Especially the Pegasus one, that looked like a mini glass statue more than candy.
I think it does look like you!
I can see the resemblance between you and the candy bust. The whole detail of the candy looks super amazing, so does the other candies in the shop. You did a great job on your rabbit John, it didn't look bad at all. 💖💖
It is you ! Interesting to see these kinds of crafts still being practiced
I could literally sit here for hours and watch this show. It's so relaxing like, Bob Ross.
Love your today's video, John Daub! It's awesome! 😀😊
Never seen how Japanese people make that before.
STOP KILLING WHALES.
Great episode John! It is edible art. I think your candy bust looks similar to you in a cartoonish way. 👍
I'm a simple man
I see only in Japan

LoL!!
Phantom thief You have also commented :)
Phantom thief Ditto.
I respect his artist and his art. 😊👍 as for the candy that looks like you. I see the resemblance with your wavy and white hair. That’s about it.

Its an art form that is slowly fading but stirs up excitement wherever it appears.
I’ve started watching an episode of OIJ before I go to sleep each night, it’s just that relaxing😀
Your intro still makes me smile. I used to think it was cheesy...who am I kidding I still do...but MAN does it bring a smile to my face every time I click on a video. i LOVE this stuff!!! im so happy you made a video on this!!! :D i watch the home videos of this kind of thing on youtube all the time!
Your 'rabbit' looks like the result of a bull mating with a trout. Although, it's much better than I would have done. Great video!
Bob's Tank haha!! It could be a mascot for ... hmm, a bank? It’s a face you can trust.
Lol well that's pretty specific lol
How many people can truly say they enjoy what they do, day in and day out. This is the kind of job I'd love to do, you are your own boss and you can make amazing edible art.

Transitive art about the fleeting moments of life, beauty caught in sugar to be admired and then devoured.
literally this is the best channel I've come across!!

Thanks 🙏🏼.
You broke my heart at the end when you ate the Pegasus' head clean off :-(
It's definitely art! I couldn't eat such mastery! Too beautiful!
