Some good advice. However, I don't think there's a one size fits all as to whether you should use a main contractor, hire subbies/trades or DIY.
I think starting with DIY if you have the time and skill can help save costs and complete projects on a lower budget but can take more time.
As you grow you can move to hiring more subbies/tradesman and still make some of the savings in less time.
The main contractor method for me saves the most time but tends to cost more.
It also depends on whether you're buying cash or on finance as it costs more the longer you take when you have interest to pay.

How do you invest in property if you’re 18 ?
