At 53, I'm very glad I started sunscreen in the early 90s. I used the kind in a moisturizer tho, where you don't use enough, and I am quite spotty. My skin is in better shape than the tanners tho.

Congradulations on your marriage, Michelle! Ever since I watched the video where you gave your husband (then boyfriend, I believe) a skincare routine, I loved your chemistry and have been rooting for you too❤❤
I saw your IG story about your crochet and I thought the wedding wont be until next year (as a fellow ADHD) but omg it turns out so beautiful and youve finished it super fast! So impressed
I basically spent 12 hours a day on it for the last 2 weeks before the wedding, finished it with 44 hours to spare 😅 I was originally thinking of adding beads but oh well!
@@LabMuffinBeautyScience On the bright side, it's easier to clean without the beads! Now I know your gorgeous orange/yellow/white crochet top is probably your own creation as well. Always love it when you wear that top. This grey one is cute too ❤
Same here on the benefits of the pill! I have suspected PMDD and also had horrible hormonal acne until I started the pill, and since then my mood swings and breakouts have been reduced by like 90%. This isn't to invalidate people who have had bad experiences/side effects on the pill, but I think the positives tend to get drowned out on social media.
I tried pills, shots, in the arm implant… they would work for a while and then my issues would slowly come back. I’m glad it works for others! I found I actually needed nutritional supplements. 🤷♀️
People are generally more likely to share bad reviews than good experiences with things. I've tried several hormonal BC methods and it has been a disaster every time with a low-hormone IUD being the worst because every time I would get a period it felt like a blunt knife going through my spine and colon through to my uterus. I'm jealous of people for whom the pill works.
@stephb1377 most oral contraceptive pills, the shot and the implant all contain the same kind of hormone (progesterone only) - which doesn't work for many. There are other options but doctors don't like prescribing them due to slightly increased blood clot risk
Michelle, I had NO idea that endometriosis could grow faster due to hormone changes from stopping the pill and eat away at your bowel, that's horrifying! I'm currently on my third type of contraceptive with concerns about endometriosis so this is something I'll have to keep in mind for the future. Thank you for sharing that with us!
I don't think it was the process of coming off the pill per se, but just not having the pill there anymore keeping things suppressed! More and more things in that area just started feeling not quite right at a very fast rate, it was really concerning...
Stopping the pill doesn’t cause endometriosis to grow faster, it’s not being on hormonal contraceptive (which slow and lessen the severity of endometriosis) means the endometriosis won’t improve or will get worse. Contraceptives are the first line of treatment for endometriosis.
@@LabMuffinBeautyScience For sure, I can imagine having naturally whacky hormones makes it a lot riskier to come off contraceptives for this reason. Thanks again for the info!
Endometriosis grows faster in the presence of estrogen, my gyno described using BC to treat it as "starving" the tissue. So it's not quite that going off birth control makes it worse, it's more accurate to say the birth control reduced estrogen production (in my case, "replacing" E with progesterone to pause menstruating. I didn't have much luck until I started transitioning as an FTM trans person- now it's basically a non-issue). Endometriosis needs to be better understood because it does have potential to be very dangerous and faster diagnosis helps prevent poor outcomes. This is all from a number of years back while I was trying to treat it, so if notices anything I've said is out of date *please* correct me!
@@seanathanbeanathanHello! I think the only new updated information I have is that they’ve realized going on non-stop BC does not actually “fix” or “prevent” endometriosis, but it solves the symptoms while it continues on in the background (they don’t know if it slows it or not). That being said, transitioning between birth controls will make endo feel worse as the body deregulates hormones, and the endo that was progressing without symptoms starts presenting symptoms again. That’s what I understand having recently transitioned from nonstop BC treatment for endo to an IUD. In my case when I first went on nonstop BC my doctor warned me that it could eventually stop working as the endo continued progressing, and that became the case after five years, plus I had other complications from the pill so having symptoms again made it not worth it. But transitioning from BC I temporarily had all the symptoms Labmuffin mentions until my body got used to the IUD. Anyways, I think it’s important to know BC only stops the symptoms, not the progression, and they still don’t really know what causes it or progresses it 😅
Thank you for talking about the positive experience of BC! So many stories come along with the sense that we’re doing something wrong to our bodies by taking it, but it gave me renewed life I swear, not to mention better skin!
OMG same thing! I have PCOS so I´ve been taking the pill for 15 years and every time that I stopped is a horror!! And actually the reasons for me pausing the pill is because all the rants in social media saying that is bad for you, so I found her take on the BC really reassuring !
Congratulations on getting married! I'm so happy for you! You look so beautiful in your handmade wedding gown! I can't believe your crocheted it yourself! Amazing!
I’m glad you talked about endometriosis and skin problems, I’m currently getting tons of hormonal acne leaving red scars on my face. I’ve always been reluctant to go on birth control to fix my hormones… but hearing your experience maybe I’ll give it a try
Thank you! I think if I hadn't decided to alter the pattern in like 10 different ways it would've been faster - the original pattern didn't have a slit, and just working out the half moons lining the slit took 3 days because I couldn't see how it draped until it was done 🥵
Congrats Michelle! You looked gorgeous with your wedding dress. I've tried poems from a lab vitamin c serum and its amazing, really the best ascorbic acid serum out there. Stephen did an amazing job.
Ok I confess it took me two minutes to realize poems from a lab is a brand and I'm a big dork but I thought you were saying something about skincare poetry AND I WAS EXCITED. I guess *I* should start writing poems about cosmetic dermatology & chemistry 😂
I also have a "going off the pill" horror story. I was so oily all over my body and scalp that it was really distressing, and I got acne on my body so badly that I was immediately sent to a dermatologist and diagnosed with a serious skin infection (it wasn't, it was just acne). My migraines got way worse. I was diagnosed with PCOS and put back on the pill. Skin cleared up, migraines became way less frequent. Yeah the pill isn't right for everyone but for others it's very necessary
I got into crochet within the last year and have started noticing all of your crochet tops and was wondering if you made them! That's amazing that you crocheted your wedding dress. It looks beautiful!!! Congratulations!
Congratulations! I’ve had a very hard time concentrating ever since you said you crocheted your wedding dress!!! 😮 That is amazing and it looks gorgeous. Very talented.
Re your mention of Keratosis Pilaris: About 18 months ago, I stumbled upon a product in Chemist Warehouse (in Australia) (I haven't found it in other chemists) called "Lanate Cream". It's a 150g tube (that comes in a box), that states on its front "Smooths and Hydrates dry, scaly skin prone to Keratosis Pilaris", having 17.5% Ammonium Lactate. I have NEVER found anything that even mentions Keratosis Pilaris on its product before, so I thought it worth checking out. This stuff is soooo gooood! I don't like the way it smells, but I do love the way my skin now feels! I am in my mid 50's, having had Keratosis Pilaris since preschool - I was bullied because of my scaly skin in primary school. I've had it on my upper and lower arms, lower back and abdomen, buttocks and thighs. The worst ares were my upper arms and thighs, they felt like sandpaper to touch - some fabrics would catch on it even. The least affected areas were my abdomen and lower back with smoothish lumps. After the first tube, I wasn't sure if it were working or not, so I bought more - so glad I did, I was halfway through the second tube when I finally felt a difference (so about 6 months of use for me)! I am so happy with the results so far - my lower arms, lower back, buttocks and abdomen are clear of it altogether, and its very much reduced (by more than 50% i feel) on my upper arms and thighs! I told my GP who immediately took a photo of the tube and took notes on it; I even told him that I've been catching myself caressing my arms - I'm finally comfortable in my own skin! Also my skin is more sensitive to delicate touch now, I can feel mozzies land on me (I'm a mozzie magnet), so I can get rid of them before they cause those itchy welts! I liken my skin to have gone from thick, rough, scaly, stiff leather hide to mostly supple, soft skin with some areas of residual mild roughness/lumpiness. I'm hoping that over time, perhaps my skin won't be so sensitive to various laundry detergents, but I'm not willing to test that out yet.
I have KP and occasionally use the lanate cream from Chemist Warehouse too! If you’re interested I would also recommend the CeraVe’s Salicylic Acid Smoothing Cleanser and the cream (both at Chemist Warehouse). Both are effective & don’t cause me irritation.
Yes, as someone on the combined contraceptive pill, I need it in my life. It helps with my skin, it maintains my mental health, I have endo and other gyno problems so it keeps that in better condition and no bleeding means no more anaemia (I needed to have endometrial ablation as well for that result). We hear a lot of horror stories, but I only have glowing reviews about CCP
Michelle, you've helped me to kickstart my own skincare journey. I think your dress looks lovely, and you guys are such an adorable couple! Congratulations on your marriage!

You do crochet your clothing! Amazing talented lady. I had asked in another video if you crochet because they are so unique. You made your wedding dress! Congratulations! You are my go to for "real" information about chemicals we use on our bodies.
I went to derma for a year and a half (lots of agressive procedures and birth control hormones + many, many products) and finally 6 months after leaving hormones and adjusting doses of skincare products my skin shines. I am a graduate on Chemistry and I follow your videos so as a Chemist and oily skin person I love your chanel. Congrats on the wedding and more science please
Didn't know that preparing for a wedding is that much works. Hats off to you. Also congratulations Michelle & Omar🎉🎉🎉🎉 P.S. I love your very informative videos. THANK YOU
I'm not getting married anytime soon cause I'm 18 and single but loved this video! please post more of your crochet masterpieces, just watched your top sunscreen recs of 2024 and I kept staring at your crocheted top
Congrats on your wedding, Michelle. I am a fellow Aussie. I love your content and attitude to all the brands/dermatologists. Thank you for all. You rock.😅
Congratulations 🎉 and thank you for sharing your skincare routine. I appreciate how much work you’ve done to test products. I didn’t quite appreciate how hard this was on your skin.
Congrats on your nuptials! I was also on an oral contraceptive for a long time, and when I went off it awhile back, it wreaked havoc on my skin. It was terrible, and my back, upper arms, and chest suffered the most. Then finally, after about 15 months, things settled and got back to normal. I know there may be some people out there who think about going off the pill before the wedding so they can conceive shortly after, so just be warned! Also, it seems kinda gimmicky, but the Foreo Espada really helps for those deep hormonal pimples. It’s a targeted blue light treatment device. It doesn’t do much for a pimple that’s already reached the surface, but it can zap those deep ones before they become a problem. I love it so much more than I thought I would!
I remember first seeing him in one of your sunscreen videos, glad to see he graduated from partner to husband. Congratulations Michelle!! Can't believe you crocheted your dress, it looks gorgeous. Still laughing at the foot peel situation though, I can't imagine what that would be like.
CONGRATULATIONS!! So happy for you - I absolutely love your dress - you look beautiful, and your wedding favours are seriously the best ❣I was literally at Winners yesterday and saw a crocheted top and it reminded me of one I have seen you wear in one of your videos :)
Congratulations Michelle! Like a fellow viewer said, I saw your older videos of you and your now husband together and you looked like a super lovely couple.
Thank you for introducing me to Poems from the Lab. Why that super expensive brand can’t allocate funds to a more stable packaging I will never understand. I end up wasting 1 month worth of product due to oxidation and I consider myself careful with how it’s stored/closed.
Girl, your handmade crochet dress is FIERCE. How many people can say they made their own wedding dress? You ate down and I hope you felt like the queen you are wearing it. Also, coming from someone who also has bangs, I feel you on wind. It can be so humbling sometimes. 😭 The stray hair kind of made me laugh but it honestly makes it so much better and doesn’t take away from the beauty of the moment at all. Love your content by the way, thanks for sharing your knowledge!
First off congratulations, you looked and look stunning! My skin is very oily but it hasnt caused acne for me luckily. Im in my 30s now and i am incredibly thankful for how easy my skin is to deal with. I dont wear anything on my skin for makeup though so that probably helps with not breaking out. Skin is fascinating.
Congrats on your wedding 🎉 do you have a video on how to test new products to make sure that it fits your skin? How do you know when you break your skin barrier?
You did a great work on the preperations, dress especially! 😍 Thank you for sharing it. As always, useful and very interesting information. Congratulations on getting married! 🌹
Congratulations Michelle, you look beautiful! For hormonal acne I swear by Lion's Pair Cream. It works by reducing inflammation, so if I catch one of those big angry spots before it comes to the surface it shrinks so much it usually disappears before it has chance to erupt. It has saved my skin on many occasions.
congratulations! also the video quality here is amazing!
Girl, that dress is stunning! And you are wearing the hell out of it! You look absolutely beautiful! Congratulations on your wedding!

I’m practicing curling my hair for my wedding as I watch this 👍
I went to derma for a year and a half (lots of agressive procedures and birth control hormones + many, many products) and finally 6 months after leaving hormones and adjusting doses of skincare products my skin shines. I am a graduate on Chemistry and I follow your videos so as a Chemist and oily skin person I love your chanel. Congrats on the wedding and more science please
Congratulations Michelle, enjoy marriage bliss! Love that dress. We need to see more pictures. You two look absolutely gorgeous ❤
Didn't know that preparing for a wedding is that much works. Hats off to you. Also congratulations Michelle & Omar🎉🎉🎉🎉
P.S. I love your very informative videos. THANK YOU
Congratulations on your nuptials, and let me say your dress is beautiful! It's very unique and you wore it well.
I'm not getting married anytime soon cause I'm 18 and single but loved this video! please post more of your crochet masterpieces, just watched your top sunscreen recs of 2024 and I kept staring at your crocheted top
Oooooh that dress! Totally worth your mental health! Skin looks great too
Thank you!!
Omg congratulations, beautiful! And thank you for taking us behind the scenes of this very special day for you😘
Congratulations on the wedding!
Also, the most massive Kudos to you for CROCHETING??!! your wedding dress, ngl
Congratulations! Even with your hair flying about in photos, you look amazing!
WOW!! You made that beautiful dress! I'm so impressed! Also, huge CONGRATULATIONS!! You looked lovely!
Congratulations on getting married. Your skin is looking great! I've only had one Picoway treatment so far.
I remember first seeing him in one of your sunscreen videos, glad to see he graduated from partner to husband. Congratulations Michelle!! Can't believe you crocheted your dress, it looks gorgeous. Still laughing at the foot peel situation though, I can't imagine what that would be like.
Congratulations on your marriage!!! Wishing you everything great♥️♥️♥️
CONGRATULATIONS!! So happy for you - I absolutely love your dress - you look beautiful, and your wedding favours are seriously the best ❣I was literally at Winners yesterday and saw a crocheted top and it reminded me of one I have seen you wear in one of your videos :)
OMG You looked so beautiful, your dress is just gorgeous .. and you totally rocked it!! The photos are lovely. Congrats!
Congratulations Michelle! Like a fellow viewer said, I saw your older videos of you and your now husband together and you looked like a super lovely couple.
What a beautiful wedding! Thanks for sharing all this great info and a peek into your special day. Hope you have a wonderful life together💖💞
Loved this video! Including the wedding pictures (and your DRESS!)! Congratulations! 🥰
Congratulations! ❤🎉
ETA: That dress is absolutely AMAZING! I hope you two had the best day!
Congratulations on your wedding. Sending blessings, humor and joy!
Thank you for introducing me to Poems from the Lab. Why that super expensive brand can’t allocate funds to a more stable packaging I will never understand. I end up wasting 1 month worth of product due to oxidation and I consider myself careful with how it’s stored/closed.
Congratulations, Michelle!! Best wishes to you and Omar!
Wooow the dress was stunning!! And you wear it sooo well, both you and hubby looking gorgeous!! Congratulations! 🎉
Wow, congratulations on your wedding! You look so beautiful and the dress is absolutely amazing ❤
Congratulations on you recent marriage Michelle, wishing you both a wonderful forever after x💕
CONGRATULATIONS 🎉🎉🎉!!! 🥹🥹🥹 So sweet!
Michelle you’re just amazing to watch
Congratulations on your wedding and new husband! This was a great video and your dress is amazing! 😍
Congratulations Michelle ! 💐
Skin is fascinating.
very excited for the upcoming videos! and congratulations on your wedding❤
Congrats. Your wedding dress is gorgeous
Congrats 😊😊🥳🥳🥳
Congratulations on your wedding! 🎉🎉🎉
Congrats on your wedding 🎉 do you have a video on how to test new products to make sure that it fits your skin? How do you know when you break your skin barrier?
Wow. That is an amazing crochet wedding dress and you looked so beautiful in it. So impressed you crocheted that yourself!!!
You looked beautiful 😊 Best wishes to you and your husband!
What a beautiful wedding. I love that you made your wedding dress. So creative 😍

Omgosh congrats Michelle!!!🎉🎂🥂
Congratulations! And thank you for taking the effort of passing this information on.
You did a great work on the preperations, dress especially! 😍 Thank you for sharing it. As always, useful and very interesting information.
Congratulations on getting married! 🌹
Your dress is gorgeous, I can't believe you made it that's so impressive! Congratulations!!
My wedding is in next month and I'm still working on my lacey dress. I'm amazed that you could finish yours! It gives me hope.❤
