  • @Grand-Massive

    I didn't expect to see the actual construction being done by hand. I thought for sure they would have some really complicated machinery to put them all together perfectly in very little time.

  • @Tiersmoke92555

    I don't build aquariums but I apply gallons of sealants. The bonding silicone wastage can be minimized by profiling the tip of the tube and forcing the sealant to preform. On a project that involved stone assembled in the same manner we saved hundreds in materials but did not increase labor hours. This could save tens thousands a year for them.

      they know damn well that tanks are TOO DAMN EXPENSIVE!

    • @waffler69
      @waffler69 5 лет назад +4

      Its expensive because it is s company that is trying to prosper. I am totally that guy that buys the dollar per gallon sales but i think the idea for these tanks is trying to set a bar.

    • @triggerismynameo
      @triggerismynameo 5 лет назад +3

      @@waffler69 they're high end tanks for sure. But to imply that the thing that's stopping people from buying is the ordering process is a little ridiculous.
      I love KGT but he should think of a new way to pitch this company

    • @ScooterFXRS
      @ScooterFXRS 5 лет назад +1

      Amen. High end tanks for sure but $$$ ouch, as I had considered having one built. So I'm have it on my to do list.

    • @Nick-fw5uj
      @Nick-fw5uj 4 года назад +2

      @@waffler69 High end tanks? They waste a lot of silicone. The silicone is a big mess. In Europe you can buy a tank from higher quality for less than half the price.

    Wow this looks amazing I was astonished of how they made these huge tanks I was always wondering how these large tanks are made and also how the ones that has other shapes than the rectangular one that we know are made, but now I know. I used to create my aquarium tanks from scratch from cutting the glass to gluing them and creating the cover all by myself but those were medium sized and small ones, never dared to try a large one honestly. So thank you a lot for showing us how it's made, appreciate it a lot. Greetings from Egypt

    Awesome vid, thanks for sharing the tour. Those angled pieces of lumber on the top are brilliant. I've seen shippers do damage to so many things, even if labeled to not stack anything on top. A 2x4 piece of lumber is CHEAP insurance that your product gets shipped properly.

    I worked at a sliding door factory for a while and they had racks of glass lined up for a load of doors... unfortunately whoever built the load didn't balance the sizes well so there was a lot of very large doors on the load and when the glass layer moved a piece the cart got back heavy and tipped, broke probably 6-8 pieces of glass and everyone in the shop heard it. no fault to her but man it was a mess, thankfully she didn't get hurt. just thought of it when you were talking about the broken panel.

    I would bet there are MANY potential customers who don't care about a back glass,ends or bottom glass...just the largest front viewing glass on a giant aquarium. My point being...lets say a 10' long x 4' tall glass ( or acrylic) attached to a heavy duty plastic or fiberglass tank..with the appropriate bracing.. IF,that slashed the price of a custom tank..and of course durable enough for a lifetime as all giant tanks need to be.
    Just wondering if that was possible?

    I was expecting more of a "jig" than what they were doing to ensure everything is square. And they used hand operate device to get the silicon out. I also would think they would use a battery operated one to make sure there is an even thickness. But if it works, interesting.

    The tanks seem really nice and well built, but the prices are just unreasonable. A tank matching the dimensions of a simple 20g long from aqueon could easily cost over $600 from them. They are probably worth it for very large tanks, or tanks of non-stand dimensions, and if you have a ton of money to spend on a tank (which i would imagine most people dont have $600 to spend on a 20 gallon tank, not that their bigger tanks are any better though, with a 220ish coming out to around $3,000 using the tank builder on their website, and this is ONLY for the tank with non tempered glass, no stand, no canopy, no lids or anything, JUST the tank itself.), but other than that it just is not worth the price.
