I think her non-verbal language preference is inclined towards her childhood sweetheart, it is at certain degree understandable as she and her husband are having a conversation with him, but from my perspective the smile, how comfortable she is, the way she looks at him, the joy in her face, while when she speaks with her husband is a more formal and serious way, maybe she was trying to avoid hurting them but the cultural affinity took a place as it is notorious the difference in the behavior with each of them.

Interesting film. I've no idea to the question but that lady is very talented and has a lovely voice. I could easily listen to her read the phone book.
