    "Takes place at a Christmas party..."
    "Oh, that's why they say its a Christmas movie..."
    No... That is a part of it. But not only is the Christmas setting/theme throughout the whole film, but at it's core it is a movie about bringing a family together during Christmas... Realizing that family is what is important. The true Christmas spirit!!
    It just also happens to have lots of guns and explosions. ;-)

    I know the answer to the Robocop question about the face. It's (lore-wise) Not real skin. The "face" we see under the helmet is not made of flesh, it's like an animatronic. They kept Murphy's features to "honor him" and give him an approachable an human aspect. Frank Miller at his best

    In the original predator Van Damme was supposed to originally be the predator but he turned it down because he didn’t like that no one would see his face or that it would be obvious that it was him.
    Also Johnny Cage from Mortal Kombat was inspired by Van Damme from Bloodsport. He also refused to be recorded for the character. The split punch is Johnny Cage’s signature move.

    The man that played the Predator was Kevin Peter Hall, who was 7'2" tall, a full foot taller than Arnold. Originally, it was supposed to be Jean Claude Van damme in a kind of bug costume (there's some test footage of it), and he quit because the costume was hard to move in and it obscured his face. Fun fact: Stallone actually hates guns, but is most famous for his roles in movies where his characters use them.

    So many don't realize the significant of akira. Before akira anime was mostly fighting like dragonball, big robots,aliens invading,space pirates and detective shows. After akira anime got weird.I've watched anime since 1978 and saw so many over the years. From old Astros and gigantor, through capt harlock,the original robotech m across series, go lion, both voltrobs, space battleship yamato, mazinger z, Dragon ball, and mAny more in the 80s. But when Akira came out so much changed. I watched it at a walk in theater the month it was released in america. There were like 20 people in the whole theater all anime fans. We all ended up set to in the middle rows and we got to know each other and chatted about anime manga comic bookx graphic novels we exchanged numbers and kept in touch. That was a group I'd go to comic shops with or even went to a convention.akira did that. Brought a bunch a kids together from all over San diego county for our love of anime.

      Wait so your group until Akira never watched Thundercats what about Ninja The Wonder Boy which was a "movie" but was just from an entire series of anime from japan and heavilly stripped ? ? I mean yeah both has vibes but is neither Akira nor Dragonball, they did involve space/time so to speak.
      Lets be serious unless you grew up in Japan you missed tons of anime and many anime that was specifically made for foreign nations if grew up in Japan

    • @BenjiSun
      @BenjiSun 5 месяцев назад

      @@demonic7610 yes. even in the 70's and 80's anime was already not just a genre, but a medium that encompasses many genres. from the OG magical shoujo like Creamy Mami, to Weird Science/ET types like Urusei Yatsura, to quasi-sci-fi like Doraemon, to Aesop's Fable-ish like Ikkyu-san, to family sitcom like Sazae-san, to romcom like Maison Ikkoku, to young romance stories like Orange Road, to political sci-fi like Gundam Zeta, to full on cyberpunk dystopia like Dominion Tank Police, to really well made but very much pornographic Urotsukidoji... the spectrum is no less as wide as the entirety of Hollywood, and the quality of many of these shows are really good, just look at what Studio Ghibli was producing back in the 80's... it's not just another Disney Princess movie for the x decade in a row... or "cartoons are for kids" Tom and Jerry/Looney Tunes (not that they're not great, but that's all those old fogies at the studios will greenlight).

    Jean Claude Van Dame's split and punch from Blood Sport became the basis for the character moves of Johnny Cage in the Mortal Kombat video game. However, Van Dame was not available or they couldn't get him for the actual shooting of the game, so another martial artist was used.

    Bloodsport is probably one of my favorite movies from Van Damme bedside universal soldiers with with Dolph London funny thing if you seen what he did this is where they based the character Johnny Cage off of for mortal combat

    I love videos like this, because everyone is like "Omg Its this actor from this movie, I didnt know they were in this!!!" When most of the clips they're seeing are the actors original roles or first gigs and the ones that they know them for came way later 😂

      I know right. But sadly, not really a fan of his newer ones though. I still watch them but there is something missing. You know. Like maybe 2016 and such. Not sure of the years but just some of the recent ones. I understand that he is now older and taken a mentor role or fatherly role but at least don't make it so generic. Gives off a bitter old man sometimes. Like the one about his character and daughter was a reporter wasn't bad. But the way the story was a little bit too long. It was not terrible They could have shorter it a bit. But saw a trailer where he is a commander I think. Looks exciting.

    This wasn't bad. Watched most of these movies before and saw clips of them from the rest. Also, they should do this topic again but with popular Chinese action movies. Well popular movies for both Eastern and Western movies. Like Rumble in the Bronx or Kung Fu Hustle.
