Just watched this video, and I have to say …. DJay, you need to watch it again and pay attention to the way Daniel watches/looks at you while you were talking, you are the love of his life and his expression shows it! I absolutely Love watching couples young and old who puts Jesus at the top of everything they do. God Bless you Arms family.

Can I just emphasis how amazing Daniel was to adopt Weston! I never would have realized! Their bond is amazing. I know what it's like. My step dad adopted me, and now sometimes I forget he is my step dad!

We’ve been going through some very trying times lately, lots of tears, lots of anger, but it all came back to we trained them up in the Lord, not we have to trust His process. I raised 4 boys. Back to school day was my favorite day of the year. I could have done somersaults down the road. I was so tired of the fighting and hearing, I'm bored, get him out of my room, I'm hungry, can I, can I, can I. Not going to apologize, it was wonderful. The first one leaving is the hardest. It gets easier every time. One other thing, we women tend to ALWAYS think of our children as when they were little. I tried to explain this to my 50 year old the other day. I can still remember when he was 2 or 3 and he was sick. I would walk the floor with him all night. He'll always be that little boy to me. He's a wonderful grown man but I loved my little boy, all of them.
Our daughter's in the throes of raising four boys right now. It's fun to watch, these boys are something else! All that stuff you mentioned but she's handling it very well. They're visiting right now. God bless!
You worry about them throughout their lives doesn’t matter how old they are. He knows where he can go when he needs a shoulder to cry on or a ear to listen to him. He’s has been so blessed to have 2 such wonderful parents

The relief they can feel just by sending him to a Small Christian college is a blessing!! I can't imagine a parent sending their child to these DEMONcrazy colleges that aren't really teaching the kids anything of worth.

I totally understand your feelings! When I dropped off my daughter she was like “See ya later mom!!” I didn’t know until she was 25 or so that she cried for hours after we left!
I missed my parents when I went to college, too. We talked a couple times a week and I went home 1-2 weekends a month and long holidays. Love and miss my parents now, they were my best friends and mentors in adulthood. My son had a beautiful relationship with both his grammie and grandaddy. My Dad took the time, as he was dying of cancer, to teach my son and tell him that he wasn't going home to his house this time, but was going home to God's house. My son told me that grandaddy was dying. I had been in denial. After he was gone, my son was very close to me and his grammie, even helping with her laundry when she was in a nursing home later in her life, and visiting with her several times a week. The nurses called him the laundry fairy because he would stop by late after work and making a long drive (arriving around midnight) then wash her things and bring them back the next day when he visited her before going to work on swing shift. I have been blessed beyond measure. Now my grandson is a junior in high school. I've been blessed to help raise him, volunteer at his elementary school for 6 1/2 years, and provide transportation to/from school in junior high and high school. Love my boys! God has been so good to me.
Oh my, the tears I am crying, remembering when my oldest son went off to college. That was 23 years ago, and now I have the blessings of being a Grandma.

My son Josh is 45 now. he is a wonderful man, is married and has two amazing teenagers and yes... a wife. He's the kind of man that if I had any daughters I would want them to bring a young man like Josh home to meet us.
When he first left to go to university I sobbed all the way home after taking him there! He didnt come home until Christmas break, it was so good to have him home.... but oh brother the day he went back after New Years.... I cried all day, I was happy for him but wandered around the house for weeks.... Josh is a wonderful man and I couldn't be prouder of him.

I bawled like crazy leaving my daughter at her dorm room for the first time. We stayed the night (45 minutes from home) just so we could take her out for breakfast the next day...I cried again! So I really understand, DJ. It gets better each and every time. But never easy. Trust he is in God's hand! God bless you, DJ.
I was told by a very wise person that God planned the "teen age years" ups and downs to help both the parents and growing child to cut the apron strings when the time has come. It worked for me, even though we really did have a good relationship. Bon Voyage Weston!! Spread your wings and fly. 🎈

This brought back so many memories. Three of my four, now in their forties went away for college.My daughter, the oldest went almost 7 hours away. We dropped her off, settled her in and left. We got to the end of the college driveway I broke down and cried all the way home. But I spoke to her, first daily, and heard how happy she was, I was fine. It got easier with each son. My 15 and 16 year old granddaughters are now looking at college in 2 years. When you hear the happiness in his voice and on his face you will be ok.

DJ i know how you feel, my son left home when he was 18yrs old to start at University, was very hard on me as iam a single mum. He is now in his final year and i couldnt be more prouder of the Man he has become.
I wish I could tell you it gets easier. I remember when my oldest son went to college I cried everyday for weeks. Then he joined the coast guards and his first holiday he wasn’t home was so hard, I would talk to him every few days and I would wait until he hung up to cry. My son went to be with Jesus June 14 this year. It has been the hardest thing I have ever gone through. He would have been 42 in October I still wake up wanting to call him because we talked everyday of his adult life. We were very close. Cherish every minute you can with your children. Can’t wait until I see my son again in heaven.
You are 💯 percent blessed to have Daniel in your life. He is so sweet, loving and caring. He is one in a million.
Thirty years ago, my first born went to Rice in Houston, Texas. We lived in the Netherlands, I bawled for the first 30 minutes or so after setting her up and dropping her off!! It was the most difficult thing for her and myself. Set up for her to call us each Sunday evening. It was
cheaper for her to call us. Loved when she flew home to us during Christmas and for the summer!!

I'm 75 and God has never dropped me in a ditch, this often I deserved it. As I became an older adult, my parents became my mentors and best friends. You have much to look forward to. I take my only daughter to college on the 18th, so I felt every tear of this, as we are working on sorting and packing her belonging. She is going 2.5 hours away, and I've cried a ton, I'm excited for her, already can't wait to go pick her up the first time for a visit. She is following her passion, and I'm proud of her for sure. You both did an amazing job raising Weston to be the wonderful young man that he is. The proof of that is that he did not buy the $120 shoes that he really wanted and stuck to the under $100 rule that he grew up with. I know just how you feel you, it's a mixture of pride and anxiety when your firstborn takes his first steps into the world away from home. I have news for you you will go through it again with Emily and Huston. You will because you are wonderful parents, the love you have for your children and each other is evident in every single video. Your faith will get you through this. I remember coming home after my first semester at University and realizing that I really didn’t live there any more. I really was going forward to make my own home. It was all a different feeling that I wasn’t expecting. You can’t reverse course. Life is forward.

I just started to watch this family 3 days ago! This recent episode w/Son going off to college is poigniant. What sweet couple. I teared up w/Mom’s “empty nest syndrome”. Y’all are both amazing parents and Weston is a great young man I’m sure you planned his first several steps into this new life in his raising so he’s ready. My girls are 30 and 28 and I’ll still do anything for them that need me for but they still get the daddy speech every time they need me. Love them and let them grow.

I never had children but I did have a baby brother seven years younger than me and until I became a teenager (then he became annoying) he was my baby. I carried him everywhere. I took care of him while my mother worked. When he joined the Army and left for boot camp, I bawled like a baby. I love these heart to heart chats from your channel. It’s life and I’m grateful you allow all of us to follow your life’s journey! ❤️

It’s hard, but it is what is best, and I am so thankful that you see this. My fourth is a sophomore in college with three older siblings out in this big world doing their thing, and one left at home. I am ready for my last birdie to fly so that Dad and I can do some of the things we want to do. We have devoted our lives to raising them, and it is getting close to where we can devote our time to each other. Kids are amazing, raising kids is amazing, but it’s also amazing to see them flourish and make their way in life. It’s just AWESOME!!! Love you guys and proud of the way you are showing God’s love through your channel! God is good all the time!!!!

It's an adjustment...growing pains, and it requires a time of processing. My son joined the Army after being on his own for several years (lived next door to me) and although I was proud of him, in private I shed many heart sick, gut wrenching tears. When I found out they could have cell phones in the Army, I was one HAPPY moma! He is fulfilling his dreams, and I'm happy for him. When they leave home, it definitely makes a prayer warrior out of you, that's for sure! Prayers for your family.

This was a great video for all the parents that have taken their child off to college. It a very hard thing to do. I also love the way Daniel looks at DJ, so much love and admiration for her. When I went 35 miles from my home in Gainesville to an internship at Ocala High School I realized when I was five blocks from home, I realized I had to turn around and go back home because I had forgotten to pack my alarm clock. When I got back home my mother was splayed out on her bed crying her eyes out. Soon my uncle and aunt arrived , next door neighbor ,another aunt and uncle and one of Mother’s friends began arriving to comfort her. Bear in mind, I was leaving Sunday and would be back home Friday afternoon.
Awe: it is never easy to let your children venture out without you. I know how you feel even though my daughter is married now with two sons almost teenagers themselves. My husband used to walk out children to their class rooms pretty much every morning as i waited in the car in bus line. I even had the principal to come out and tel me i needed to let them go to their rooms on their own, my response was if you want to tell their almost blind father to stop walking his children to their rooms go ahead but i will not take that away from him. They never asked again. But it was hard to leave them at the car door as they hit junior high and the college. Then marriage wow. Time flies. Soak up all your kids will let you as you watch from a distance and be there when they ask and even when you see them struggle and they dont ask. Love watching you channel and enjoy your family and the passion you have for your children and their future. Never feel bad for caring enough and always making the decisions you children need.
Omg, time flies by. Weston has facial hair. I’m feeling what she’s feeling. Weston is the firstborn. No matter how old they get though they will always be our babies. Now Mom and Dad, he’s going to need care packages, he’s going to start missing mom and Dads food, he’s gonna ask for help with laundry and they will need pocket money sometimes. I’m angry with mine right now and I’m playing hard to get and I’m suffering although I’m giving him the silent treatment. I will give in and call him. We have these tiny beings come into our lives and they grow on you and you just love them and then mine graduated college and he’s still my baby. He works in the college and doing good but I miss him although he’s in the next state over in Rhode Island. Put yourselves in the arms of Jesus and everything is going to be all right.

@@jennifermassie7227 My only son joined the Army when he was 18. After his first tour of duty was over, he joined the Air Force. He is now retired after 20+ years from the military, and has begun his second career. I was a single mom, and never wanted my son to grow up to be a momma's boy. So I supported his choices despite understanding that things would be different. I'm proud of my son, I'm glad I let him go to become a man. What I instilled in him never left him, and we are very close. I would drop EVERYTHING to aid him, as would he to help me, but he has his own life to live. I willingly give that to him because I want him to be happy and the best for him. I'll never forget his first Christmas away from home in a foreign country. The feeling for the first time of Christmas being different and emptier, then he emailed me on Christmas Eve asking step by step how I cook the turkey. I knew then he at times would still need me, and he felt confident asking me for help when he ever needed to. I think it's so hard for mothers because our children need us so much growing up, and then when they are adults it's hard to transition to not helping them along ever step of the way. They can not learn to make that transition themselves unless we let them take over that process of becoming young women and men. In the end we can offer our advise, but have to let them make their own choices even if we think they are not the right or best choice, because it's their path not ours.

It is a tough time when they fly the coop. My son moved out on his own at the age of 19, he is 25 now and doing well. He stopped cooking for years other than the microwave when a month on his own the oven caught on fire! It made him afraid of the stove. He is taking a cooking class this fall and overcoming his fear. You poured into his heart well he will do great!
Best wishes to your son in his cooking class. I'm 75 and I've set things on fire a time or two. Guess it comes with the territory. I'm sure he will figure it all out. My Mom taught us all to cook basic things. My sister excelled at breads, pastries , and elegant meals. I can make basic food and pies, but not as good at breads n rolls. Fudge, cookies and sweets? It's another talent God gave me. I don't eat them any more but gift them and contribute them to church bake sales.

My oldest granddaughter is starting her second year in college, but I cried along with you. I remember those feelings. You, and Daniel have raise a very good young man. Your son is fine, he's alive and he'll come home from time to time. We have to let them grow up and test their own wings. I lost my only child Michael to bone cancer. It was hard seeing him go through all that. It was hard at times when he was growing up but knew I had to allow him to try his own feet and use his brain on things. All any parent can do is pray and hope we gave them the best tools for what life hands out.

This is amazing how much our families have in common. When I met my wife she had a 7 month old daughter. She was 3 when we married I also adopted her. I can appreciate what you are going through. I'm one of those soft hearted guys that cries at the drop of a hat. So I understand.
I was an only child. My mother was 35 when I was born, and she was super protective. When I went to college, she had issues. Our pastor helped her to let me go and trust that I will be alright because there was a guardian angel watching over me. All I can say is "Take it to the Lord in prayer." God bless you guys.

I remember well dropping our oldest off at A&M. I was so happy for her BUT for a Momma, I knew in my mind God had a plan for her life and it had been our job to grow her up and train her to be the young woman God had for her to be, but it is another step in the journey, and it was not easy. I know God loved her more than I did, so I knew God was walking with her. It’s His plan. God bless you all. ❤️✝️🙏
This is my nephew's first year of college years going to Vanderbilt in Nashville Tennessee I am so proud of him
I really enjoyed you sharing life with us. We can learn from each other and that is why I value these life talks so much. I remember when our daughter left Michigan to be a traveling nurse. Now she is settled in Colorado, married to a veteran, and has a 4 year old son. Our other 3 adult children are close by. The teenage years are struggles but later the kids grow up and appreciate Mom and Dad. Experience is a great teacher and having their own kids is humbling. I do believe sending Weston to a small Christian college does give you a measure of peace. In the end, all what we can do is pray for our children at home and when they are adults. Generally speaking, kids do not forget how they were raised.
I understand her feelings. I held together driving the drive up to my sons college. I cried all the way home. A 6 hr drive. That night i slept in his bed and just cried.
This video really touched me. It reminded me of something I read years ago...We never know the love of a parent until we become parents ourselves.

I totally understand Deejay. We dropped our oldest off at Seattle Pacific University, 4,5 hours away. So so hard. My youngest son and I cried ALL the way home. I thought who is going to take care of him when he gets sick???? Well there was one other time that was worse, dropping him off to go into the Navy at age 23! That was horrible. I tried to stay strong until we drove away. I did cry for days. He went ALL the way across the country to the Great Lakes Navel training camp. I didn't hear from him for 4 weeks. Soooooo hard. But they come from God's hands and we just have to have Faith in God to take care His child. AND PRAY PRAY PRAY!!

I never realized just how tough it is for parents when their child is away until a few years after I was back from Vietnam. I was visiting her ( my mom lived in Pa. and I lived in Texas) and we were sitting at her table and my tour in Vietnam during Christmas came up and mom's face turned to a sad look and she quietly said " That was the worse Christmas I ever had." I'll never forget that! Gos bless parents!

What!!! You mean to tell me that you guys didn't get volume 2 of the advanced Parenting Manual? 😉 BJ, you and Daniel and now entering a whirl wind of change. Can you just imagine the REAL feelings that your family are feeling. Everybody has some sense of uncertainty, a sense of loss, plus everyone now has to feel as though they have to step- up now with all these changes. Point blank, time waits for no man. I know that you have a feeling of loss, but you guys have raised a boy into a man. It's a hard thing to cut the string, and let God. Stay blessed. Job well done parents.
My daughter and son-in-law will be like you DeeJay on Monday Aug 16th. They have cried and sent two boys to "first day of school", they are now in 4th and 6th grade so now there's no crying. But their little girl will be heading to kindergarten on Monday so river of tears will be flowing. You all have done well with the kids so have faith and trust in them. What a SUPERIOR man Daniel is for adopting Weston, my mom was adopted and I was so close to my mom and grandparents. Miss them all and cry at times still.
Just took my daughter to college too. It was hard as she's my youngest. I didn't cry until the day after I got home...we are strong women , we get through things.

One of my hardest day ever…but also one full of excitement for my son. I knew he would be alright when he pulled me aside and said “Mom you have been a great Mom and you raised me right…now you have to trust me and I am ready” I still cried and missed him. But he was right! He flourished and 17 years later he is very successful, married and now a brand new baby. Trust him, stay in communication and then watch him fly! FYI the worry never goes away!
Bless your hearts that's so hard, when they leave home. Weston is a great young man and he will do well. Y'all have put great values in him. You both should be proud of yourselves and him😊❤

When we moved our oldest to college I cried the entire 2 1/2 hour drive home. I thought it was so hard. Now he is married, has 2 sons and lives 15 hours from us. Talk about hard, I cry every time. But there is nothing wrong with that. It just means that we love them a lot and will miss them.

I respect anybody that doesn’t care to be on their family’s RUclips videos. Houston might even do the same thing when he gets older. She’s a momma that misses her baby. They are our babies no matter how old they are. We want to protect them from the world and all they might encounter that’s not so good. Sadly our arms aren’t big enough to surround them wherever they go but we can blanket them in prayer.

Although we didn't plan it this way, we have only 1 living child, a son. When he went away to college, I thought my heart would break, even though the previous few years had been rough. So I really feel for you, Deejay. I remember that day.
While watching this video, it took me back to my younger days to reminisce the ups and down of my precious family. My husband died when our boys were 15 & 18. And, life changed totally! I was an RN with 12 hour shifts and no longer had my partner to help watch out for the TEENAGERS! I had to pick up two more jobs to make ends meet and more worries than I was prepared for. GOD was always at my side. Faith helped us through the rough times. My boys are grown with families of their own. Seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren later and God is still looking after all of us. We still stumble and He still picks us up!
Watching your family grow and coping with life’s challenges brings encouragement and strength to those of us who have the honor to share in your life! Your faith and love in God will sustain you. May God’s many blessings continue to fill you with His strength and wisdom! 🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️
I know this video is 8 months old but it brought back memories. I dropped my daughter off at a college 1000 miles from home. She was an athlete as well. It was a hard day. Actually, her whole senior year of high school was tough. It turned out to be the best thing I ever did for her. She has graduated from college. She starts working on her PHD this fall. She still lives 1000 miles away from home but she is healthy, happy and doing well. She was very active Fellowship of Christian athletes when in school. Now she mentors in the program. God is good!
Daniel you need to continue to wear your, "I love my hot wife." Well, cause she is. Such a beautiful heart. Such a strong soul. She's a keeper. The kids will benefit, YOU'VE benefited with her. What a blessed family!
When one chapter ends another starts! New memories with be coming in the horizons. Thank you for sharing this real life situation. It brings home that you guys are like regular families going thru this thing we call life.
We have been missionaries to Brazil for 45 years, and we sent off three boys to Pensacola Christian College, and four to the states which was a very big experience. We now have 3 Brazilian daughters-in-love, 1 american daughter-in-love with our four sons, as well as nine grand-children, 2 in Brazil and 4 in Texas, and 3 in Oklahoma. I think it would be great if you put the name of the song in the notes. Thanks for sharing your lives with us.

While watching your video with tears rolling down my cheeks. I have a saying, nobody cries alone when I’m around lol. When you said about trusting God to take over, the song Jesus Take the Wheel came to my mind. Weston was raised right, he will make mistakes and learn from them but he has a strong faith and the best parents to guide him when he asks for it. Love from Ohio 🌼🌲💚🌿
I lost a daughter four years ago, my husband passed this past October. A song I have a hard time hearing is “ you’re gonna miss this” by Trace Adkins. I have other children and I have grandchildren, I miss so much. Prayers for you both, and especially Weston.

DJ, I completely understand how you’re feeling right now. I cried and cried when my daughter, my first born, left for basic training in the Air Force. I still think about that day. My daughter is the oldest of my two children. I think that experience made it easier when the time came for my son to leave home. It was still painful, but not as painful. As mothers, we are both so happy and proud to see our children grow up and pursue their careers, goals, and dreams. On the other hand, we can be so terrified that our children, although growing up with they advise, instructions, and prayers that we have sent they away with.
You will get through this tough time and soon begin to celebrate all of his accomplishments.
I pray that it gets easier for you, Daniel, and the younger children. My prayer is that your son will remain safe and well in the name of Jesus Christ.
I hope Weston continue to call and talk to you all. He would not want you to stay sad.

I feel for y’all! I sent my son to the army when he was 17. I cried then everyday when right out of boot camp he was deployed to Afghanistan. Care packages are great nd fun to make .
i have some friends in the marines and ones on a deployment for a few months and he was my mentor in jrotc and i miss him and the only way i can talk to him is through the xbox app
I don't think I could have handled my son going off to Afghanistan especially that young. God Bless You!

I know how you feel about your son. I raised my son by myself until he was four years old. But when my son got married and move to Arkansas and I cried because we were so close. But your children grow up they have to fly out our nest. We pray for God to keep them safe. You are a mom who will miss him. Even when he comes and then we move on but you are a strong family. I know where you’re coming from. When my son went off to college he was 2 hours away and I cried over half the ride back home. Then when we carried my daughter to college it was 3 hours away. We’re in NC and she went to SC to college it’s no lie I cried all the way home. She was the baby of the family. She played softball and got a scholarship to play. She had never been away from home without me or her Dad. I was totally lost when we dropped her off for school. I was so scared because she was in a whole other state and 3 hours away. She’s 38 yrs old now and I still cry when I think about dropping my kids off at college. Higgs and 🙏 to everyone.
