    nice touch with bolts instead wood screws. i woulda stained the portion of the 2x4 in the pockets as well as the bottom of the 12s before you installed them. and you shoulda scorched the end grain with your torch cause those two places are were you will likely have issues first. we also do it for fence posts it really extends the life of your wood.

    What do you do if the flatbed trailer you are adding sides to doesn't have those little stake post slots already built onto the frame?
    And can they go after you some how if you convert like a motorcycle flatbed trailer into a flatbed trailer? Thanks.

      I don't know the laws in your state, but a homebuilt trailer should be OK. You can get stake pockets to weld on or have a shop/welding class/friend with a welder add them.

    Used motor oil would make it look just about the same and more than likely have more protection

    The 2x4 that fit upright into the slots. How did you get them to stay in there before bolting the boards to it? Looks like they were floating

      We ended up putting full length 2x4’s in and cut them after we bolted in the sides. Actually tacked the side boards with a nail gun first and worked great. Wasted some 2x4 material but didn’t really add up to that much money

      You could tap shims inside the pockets and yank em after the bolts are in. The composite shims are nice for this since they don't splinter and can be left in place to firm up the assembly, as they won't rot.

      Run a deck screw to hold them. After it's bolted together remove the deck screws.

    You should make a video about that Kubota. Also is your truck a 1/2 or 3/4?

    • @theidahooutlaw
      @theidahooutlaw 2 месяца назад

      It is clearly visible that the truck is a Ford Super Duty. So it’s a 3/4 or more.

    I admit that I am curious as to why the top of the front board isn't even with the tops of the side boards.🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️
    And, after watching the entire video, I am still waiting for the so-called "hidden secret" to making sideboards for a trailer.😂😂
