- Clara Schumann (1819-1896) - Piano Trio in g-minor, op.17 (1846)
00:15 - 11:12 1. Allegro moderato
11:20 - 16:25 2. Scherzo - Tempo di Menuetto
16:30 - 21:25 3. Andante - più animato
21:30 - 29:40 4. Allegretto
Composed shortly before her 27th birthday in 1846, Clara Schumann´s piano trio (one of only two works of piano chambermusic, the other one being the Romances for violin and piano, op.22) is a wonderful example of German romantic style, very personal, very intimate and never seeking attention for technical purposes only.
For this, her first work of chambermusic, she chose the genre of piano trio - most probably because her husband Robert had NOT composed one yet (op.88 not being counted as a full piano trio). She presented it to him on their 6th wedding anniversary, and he returned the favor shortly afterwards by composing his Trio no.1 in d-minor, op.63.
Even though Clara Schumann was very critical of her own trio, the critics were not; the reception of this composition was brilliant, praised for its form and content and for being highly poetic.

i'm so glad they brought dvorak back to life to play cello on this
absolutely beautiful played

Just from the fraseggio of the slow movement alone, everyone should recognize true interpreters.

bruh
lol hahahhaha
I don't like that the cellist's conception of his role as 2ndary or subordinate. I doubt that Clara Schumann intended it that way. If Sol Gabetta were playing, it would have been better. The listener of a trio should be hearing all harmonies clearly. The violin is not the "lead instrument". It is a trio -- an equal performance.
I agree, but it may be an mic placement problem in the acoustic they're in, or just not the right kind of mic for this application.
Listen with good earphones of real speakers may change your view. Great performance.
I don’t think thenCellist sees his role as secondary, I believe it’s not a good recording.
This is because of social reasons..if composing is regarding as " only for men" it is very difficult to compose..but in any case may women have compose during the centuries here and there.....the composer I adore is Lilli Boulanger....Have you never heard something of her ??
@@pilouetmissiou sí, he sentit peces seves. I de Nadia també. La llàstima és que es programen poc
Ça viendra. Un peu de patience, svp.
@@hugokubarth9316 Vous avez raison
Very good performance of a mediocre work.
