my fasting glucose went from 300's to 80's by cutting carbs to less than 20 g/day. No meds. Feeling great. Thank you Dr. Westman!

Terrifying but congratulations! I do keto. When i slip for a while i still don’t eat the typical amount of carbs. It gets in your head so even when you’re bad you’re really not bad. If I didn’t usually live on keto I probably would be diabetic. It’s so clear and so obvious.

    It's the damnedest thing...
Yesterday i saw a video, talking about how a new study had found that if you eat 3x the "recommended" amount of salt, you're basically immune to high blood pressure. - My first thought.
Then it goes into medicine, and i was reminded of an encounter i had, with a class mate this morning. I've not seen him for about a year, and i were to learn why ?
The guy had had a heart attack, at 46, and subsequently a triple by-pass. At fucking 46... And i though i was unlucky getting a clot in the brain at 41.
Seriously... What's going on? Neither of us are 50, and already we're declining in health, like we're 90...
He's on 32 different types of medicine now. Poor guy. Yet, refuses to change his lifestyle, and who am i to force him. :(
Me, on the other hand, i changed my lifestyle drastically after my blod clot 5-6 years ago... And today, i'm off ALL medication, and living my best life as a Carnivore. NEVER felt better... So, for me, it was a blessing in disguise...

And in terms of weight loss.
In '22, just before i started my Carnivore Journey. I weighed 280 lbs. And i lost about 70 lbs, in 3 months, while sitting on a chair, not moving at all. At most i'd do some shopping, or waddle out into the back yard. No exercise required !

One of the things that I think a lot of people who are really trying to help don't quite make the connection with is getting people to eat where they are full and satiated, which makes it much easier for most to stop cravings or being pulled back into the poor choices. It is so hard for so many to try to change through willpower as the promptings by your body for nutrition you don't get manifests as cravings or impulses we just cannot fight. When diabetics are told they must simply forego so many foods, we make them fight natural urges that the mind usually just cannot overcome over time. I think just telling people to restrict is correct, but not necessarily the best approach.
Government and medical people are being influenced by profits throughout the system incentivized to be happy that people keep needing medications to treat each different symptom that manifests after the last medication was started for a disease ( diabetes ) that is not reversable according to many who have no reason to disbelieve that at this time. Some break through, as we see here. 👍

I personally think it is crazy to ignore the obvious. Lol my dog will not eat any packaged foods. Meat, cheese, maybe yogurt. No grains or veggies. She’s so smart. Now that the effects of insulin are known, how can there be any doubt about what we should eat?

Your advice is too practical doctor. Where’s the element of magic we all want? Ie take this magic pill or herb, these beans will grow to the sky Jack. Amazing how simple this problem is- your blood has too much glucose in it, so consume less. If I had too much alcohol in me I’d consume less or none. Too much arsenic? Maybe cut back? Me says “it hurts when I hit myself with hammer” doctor answers, “eat less meat but keep pounding yourself with that hammer.”

We need more attention on this topic. Can we create a petition or petitions to raise awareness to those now capable of making changes, e.g. in the United States? Now with RFK, Trump, even Elon Musk (Think of the savings from reversing diabetes (and other metabolic issues) nationwide!!). And if this takes off in the US, it will prove to the rest of the world how this can be improved - do you think they won't notice?
Also, perhaps, supporting the American Diabetes Society would help assist in this goal.

Dr. Sunil was insufferable in this video. Good lord. Such absurd vilification and strawmanning. Every doctor I've been to discusses lifestyle changes. The problem is most people struggle to make these changes consistently, so they need medication to mitigate the damage. It's not complicated. He thinks it's gonna help to take one random photocopied pamphlet and rip it apart? What's he trying to accomplish, here? Does he really think bashing the entire field of medicine is going to help people? No. It's just him trying to promote himself by manufacturing rage. Sad.
