Becca could explain to me how to cook an egg and I would tell myself "I'm totally buying that game".

If Becca Scott did a video on Russian Roulette there would be a run on revolvers.

Okay, watching this guide again after seeing you play the game makes MUCH more sense to me now, I guess context really is king 😄 In the end, the rules don't seem that complicated at all compared to DnD and I like how cinematic and narrative-driven it all is. There are still some things I need clarified, but hopefully reading the book will help with those. I should be receiving mine soon - I got extremely lucky and found a single copy in a local online shop, even though the book seems to be completely impossible to find in Europe otherwise 😃 Can't wait to dig in! 🥰

Hey, have you received the book already? If yes, what do you think so far? I'm also thinking to buy it and been asking around about people's opinions..

Lovely! The only thing I'd point out is at 7:10 when you say the Narrator chooses the highest dice - that's not required. Neither they nor players *have* to make the highest total they can, which can sometimes be important when it comes to the effect die or just setting a tone for the table ("I could set this difficulty at a 16 because I rolled so well but I'm going with 12 because I know it's your first game and there's plenty of time left in the evening for nigh-insurmountable odds later!"). Awesome video though - well done! :)

Honestly, I didn't really get much of how to play this.. 😅 It doesn't help when the only tabletop game I know is D&D I guess. But I am very interested in learning, I love The Dragon Prince! Hopefully seeing you play will make things clearer, I will tune in on the 29th ☺️

I have the book and I absolutely love it. I'm still super confused on some of the rules, but it seems super cool.

Trust me, the rules of this are so weird and abstract when you cant see them in action, but once you do, it DOES make sense. Roll and Keep has an actual play if you'd like

@@spudsbuchlaw I was able to play my first game of it yesterday, and it makes a lot more sense now!

That was such an amazing recap! Even though I read the book, this helped simplify it in my mind greatly.

    Stress? Trauma?
Someone has been reading Blades in the Dark.

Blades is great, but stress and trauma and similar concepts aren't new to BitD , this is based off the cortex system which has been out a lot longer than blades, and was built off the sovereign stone system used for the Serenity RPG among other things. But other systems like Mothership have stress too. Although it's generally implemented in very different ways

Marvel Heroics, an earlier Cortex game, had Stress and Trauma as well, published around 2012.
Fun fact! John Harper is actually credited there. Iirc he did the character sheet layout design.
