    Could you please provide a reference to this? It appears that removing multivariate outliers can improve the multivariate normal distribution and that's why it would be great to reference that.

    I don't understand, your data has multivariate normal distribution at the 99% level but not at the 95% level then? Because the "Mahalo" statistic is higher for the p=0.01 than p=0.05, and your mahalo result was 9.14, higher than the 7.82 value for p=0.05, but lower than 11.35 for p=0.01.

      He must have had a different that standard p value selected.
