You are the best! After a long time of the penny not dropping - it finally dropped by watching your tutorial I can now smoothly do my edge to edge quilting on my Q24. You are a wonderful instructor and put all of the steps together beautifully and simply. Thank you so much for the time you have spent teaching the likes of myself - so very much appreciated.
Thank you, Susan. Best tutorial I've seen on RUclips for Bernina Qmatic. I would love to see more of these. I have Q20 on classic frame with qmatic but have really struggled with it. I have watched this one twice and have already been able to complete two quilts with e2e
I can’t thank you enough for sharing this tutorial. I just finished a quilt at our local makers facility. This information you provided in this video helped me finish an entire quilt . Please continue to post.
I love this! It has helped so much. I have watched it about 3 times. Better than the instruction with Bernina and Bernina International. You started from the beginning to the end.
WOW! I’ve had two other brands of long arms and have switched to the Bernina Q20 with QMatic Software. I just completed 3 1/2 hours of training on the new machine and took lots of notes. I loaded the quilt and tried to make sense of my notes and only got so far before I called my dealer twice in one day (bless them - only did one row each time). THEN I watched your video. Logical, reassuring and fun to watch! I can do this, I can do this…. I’ll be recommending your videos to my friends. Thank you so much Susan!
I just got my Qmatic installed this week and your video is so, so helpful. Thank you! I can't wait to try this out. I'm feeling much more confident to do my first quilt with the computer now. I have enjoyed free motion with my Bernina so far, so this is the next step in my learning curve.
Hi Susan I’ve watched this video (e2e w qmatic) for the 2nd time to refresh and relearn process -thank you so very much and yes please wld love to see more videos like this- btw you made it look -dare I say easy, doable and streamlined!! 😊
Missed the live stream but enjoyed the replay. Even though I don't have Q-Matic on my Bernina longarm, I still picked up a couple of useful tips. Thanks much! 💜
You are really good at this! Wish we had a view of the sewhead screen along with the monitor view as you push buttons. You are right about needing a large screen for viewing! Thank you for sharing your expertise.
I'm watching the reply. I am very new to quilting. Just bought a Bernina longarm and I've only used it a couple of times and I have not yet used the Q-Matic yet, but I have taken a few classes. I have enjoyed your video and the things that you are showing are helping me remember what I learned in the classes.
This was great! I have a Bernina long arm and can do an edge to edge but you showed me some things I didn't know. I would love to learn something in Art and Stitch from you when you are ready.
Thank you so much for this, greatly appreciate it and would love more on Qmatic and Art and Stitch if you venture into that more. I have new Q20 on 11 ft frame with Qmatic and have only done E2E with Qmatic so far and still learning. Your videos are so helpful, thank you!
I think that your line might be from a jump stitch from stitching multiple rows. When I have multiple rows stitching at the same time I selecting reverse sew for second line so I don’t have to stop and start for each row. I too am learning the Q-matic but I am loving it. 🥰 Looking forward to learning more from you.
Love seeing the Q-matic piece... I've learned lots of little tips! QQ :-) When you're putting the Bernina's side clamp onto the Red-E-Edge clamp, are you using the front Bernina Clamp or the back one? Just curious! Thanks for sharing!
Hi Susan - great video, as always. QQ - I have the 72S foot - but where did you purchase the snap on cup with the slit? I am having trouble finding it. Thanks again!
From BERNINA. I believe I ordered it with my machine, but I just Google it now and found it under “cup clip” at various dealers. A side note, feet #74 and 43 work similarly with the cup shape, so if you have one of those, give them a try👍🏻
When importing designs you can create a tag and each design can have multiple tags. I have tags for my downloads and then add tags if it is E2E, border, sashing etc. Hope the helps.
@@StitchedBySusan You can create the tag and name it whatever you want and each design can have multiple tags. Eg I have one design tagged with Amanda Muphry, My Downloads and sashing.
Hi Susan - love love love your videos. I’ve had my Q-Martic about 3 months and learn from your sessions each time. Can you please share where you obtained the magnetic bars you place when floating your top? Thank you! Deb from Nebraska.
Hi. I’m new to your channel and seeing this on replay. So helpful! Definitely going to try the red snapper system. Also I like that you don’t over-sew on the edges. That’s useful too as my machine is always bumping my side clamps and knocking them off. One quick question - have you ever considered basting the entire quilt before starting? I’ve had mixed success and just wanted to know what your experience is.
I have, yes. For general quilting I find it takes more time without giving any better results. Even when I'm doing quilts that "need" it, I tend to baste ahead a row or two, but not all the way to the bottom - does that make sense? It seems like the quilt, when fully basted and rolled up, stretches a smidge, and then I struggle to keep the top from having excess near the bottom. My opinion 😉
First off, I count on the loading/basting/side clamps to keep things from shifting. But I DO alternate directions in stitching out the rows - you can do that with the “reverse sew” button. It flips the start and stop points.
I basted the top and part of the sides initially, and then continued further down the sides with each pass. I talk through the entire process in the video.
Susan, is your red solo cup on the top of Stella held in place by a magnet? Is there any “danger” to any of her internal organs if a magnetic bowl is placed there? Thanks
QQ. Hi Susan - love your videos. I got my Qmatic 3 months ago so your videos are so helpful and timely for me. Quick question - where did you get the long magnets that you put over the bottom of your quilt as you float it? Would love to use it as simple as it is. Thanks! Deb from Nebraska.

What did you say the name of the batting that you are using in this video? Love 80/20 Hobbs but always interested in other products. Thanks. ❤ Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

This has been extremely helpful Susan. Please continue to record QMatic videos. Thanks
I'll sure try to 👍🏻

I would love to see more qmatic work.
I'm a new Q-matic owner so I think this was a wonderful presentation for someone new to digital quilting. Thank you for sharing!
Glad it was helpful!

Thank you for the excellent presentation. I just learned how to use the machine Looking forward to more tutorials.
Wonderful information. My A-1 with Butler robotics is similar in operation so I found this very useful. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
What a great idea to save designs to use same pattern in future. I will definitely be doing that. Great time saver.
It is, and also when I’m really happy with the scale of it, I don’t have to re-figure that out.

I hear you...but I don't see how I can have a camera on the sew head as it's always moving. Something may occur to me 😄
Thanks so much...Happy Holidays to you and yours!
Same to you!

It is a jump stitch, yes. Hopefully by next time I’ll have figured out how not to stitch it😁
Have a Blessed Christmas
Paula in LA.
Thanks!

Usually the back, but not always.

Do you tag with designer names then? I’d love to figure this out so I can give credit when I’m showing someone’s design.

Harbor Freight, a local store.
Great video but it would have been helpful to see a red dot on the computer screen to see which button you were pushing
There is one every time I make a selection on the computer. I just viewed it to double check…and it’s there.

When starting to stitch each row, how do you program the qmatic to stitch alternate rows to keep the quilt from shifting?
First off, I count on the loading/basting/side clamps to keep things from shifting. But I DO alternate directions in stitching out the rows - you can do that with the “reverse sew” button. It flips the start and stop points.
Did you baste the quilt on first? Can you address how to do that now that I newly have Qmatic.
I basted the top and part of the sides initially, and then continued further down the sides with each pass. I talk through the entire process in the video.
Susan, is your red solo cup on the top of Stella held in place by a magnet? Is there any “danger” to any of her internal organs if a magnetic bowl is placed there? Thanks
To the best of my knowledge, no, but It's a great question to ask of the service folks. And yes, mine is held by a little bar maget.
Hi Deb, I got them at my local hardware store. If you find it easier, there's an Amazon link in the description below each episode.
Cecile Fork

It's Winline.
Susan, respectfully, you don’t need to start your design again. You can just select the linked rows and ungroup them and they behave as single rows.
Thank you! I should have known that....and I'll try it next time.
What program do u use to save a full quilt design so u can reuse it
The Q-matic software on the Bernina has a save function under FILE.
Do you put the longarm, on a gimble? How's dat work?
No...we have all kinds of non-vibration aids (some of them very homemade!) that help to to reduce the wobble of the camera. It's tricky for sure!
