silky smooth. this is the type of playing that inspires me to keep trying.
Love this guy.
Yes sir listening to others gives me inspiration to keep playing when I sound like trash lol. But consistency is key to sounding like this guy
I seems so simple, but my sax dosnt sound like that.;)
please do not stop...play sax and post it on RUclips FOREVER
Man!! I play tenor sax, and I have never seen an improv like this one, on this tune or otherwise!! Such a witty and bold style to soloing. Extremely well done bro. Keep this going please
So amazing the end product of a marriage between hard work and talent. Sir you have inspired me.
Still in 2022, incredible!
Still in 2024 :)
I live in a place in Normandy near the little village where the french singer, Yves Montand, had his house. This song (in french "Les feuilles mortes") was one of his favorit songs. I just have to open my windows and I am sure that he listen to you playing tenor sax. The way you play is very close to the original one. Thank you for this and continue to put on YT beautiful backing tracks..
I grew up listening to Gene Ammons and Dexter from my dad
Then I heard Trane and Brecker.
Sometimes i can think back to my childhood and remember how I would lay in bed and drop tears when Gene and Dex played a ballad. It really is all about the sound and voice.
Love your playin.....
Gene Ammons !!!!!
Jug. Own every album, every song.
❤
A great inspiration to all sax students.
Lovely rich depth to the tone! The musician does it justice too, but the composition is such a deeply inspired sentiment of life and love in the years that pass!
Stuart has one of the best Saxophone shops in the world , Scary how many vintage horns he has and new
"Autumn Leaves" is a popular song and jazz standard composed by Joseph Kosma (Hungarian-French composer) with original lyrics by Jacques Prévert in French, and later by Johnny Mercer in English.
nothing like watching a man groove.... impossible to not groove while playing this tune... love it.
how about a woman? Girls can play jazz too, bud.
I'm sure they can. Being a proudly gay, man though, I feel rightfully more excited while a man plays.
+Katie Webster Well, considering all the major jazzmen are men, statiscally they can't.
(totally not gay, by the way).
that's kind of late for a "no homo"
One of my favorite jazz pieces of all times... this is just an amazing performance. So glad I came across it.
Out of all the saxophone artists I’ve listened to your sound & style on these Jazz standards inspires me the most. So delicate, sparse when needed, lots of colour in the melody & the texture in the breathe really makes it resonate for me. Yes keep on posting!
Ahh man. Nice warm, fat sound; my favorite part about the sax. I can’t explain the feeling this brings. Keep ‘em coming!
Excellent!
I had an olds when in band and my buddy had a silver selmer ( both trumpets.
Then when my son went in band he chose the sax and this was the song his jazz band played for the public.
Just stumbled upon this. What an incredible sound. Gives me chills
Classic Selmer, gorgeous sound and amazing playing.
That tone... Beautiful
Very full, keep listening it. Amazing solo.
I would love to see this with the 1950 Selmer Mk 6 and 1950 recording technology
Thank you for such a smooth and fantastic version of Autumn Leaves, what an inspiration for me to strive to be half as good as you.
Never mind the Horn, we were expected to sound like that then. You have great ideas & develop them. Lovely playing & thanks for sharing it.
Wauw !! Amazing tone .. wunderfull playing , lovely timing !! I’m very very impressed . This is what saxplaying is all about ..
Grand. The intro, so vanilla but true the song, then you hit the "soul" button and you went warp 10. Great chops,
Such an amazing interpretation! The way you alternate the different sounds and intensities is unbelievable ... combined together it is a kind of orgasm for the ears!
You know someone is good when they play literally all the notes out of time and it sounds good because music theory.
Stuart has to be the hippest repair tech in the world. Kudos to you! I would die a happy man if I could approximate the gist of this.
Whenever l am in distress l merely listen sax music that gives me peace , hence Sir,keep on going.
A great pleasure to hear your version of these standards. Thank you.
This is great. Super tone and swinging solo. Just great.
I dig the arrangement, as well as your playing - the reclining melodic cruise sauntering into a jubilant swing jive.
Excellent mood and control.
Fantastic sound, excellent feeling, and what an improvisation !! Between Stan Getz and Zoot Sims, I enjoyed every single second of this art piece. Thanks for sharing !!
Wonderful tone & beautiful playing skill & technique..
Played with such sensitivity and so in touch with the West Coast Cool style! Respect to you mate!
Bill Burr in his free time. Absolutely gorgeous!!!

I love this version if Autum Leaves 😍 i could listen to it all day. I will use this as a base when learning this song on Alto Sax 👍
Stuart is a wonderful player! Beautiful
Classy and romantic.A real Pro musician.
Amazing!
Great tone, phrasing, and solo on a tune that is easy to sound a little hoky on. Great job.
Beautiful tone - and beautiful playing!
What an awesome recording!!!!
Nice,smooth swinging style.
since the fall angel from heaven and touched my heart the tears flowed .
Gorgeous sound of a Selmer
pinkyman5155 to be fair if you listen to Stuart’s other videos in which he plays all sorts of different saxes & mouthpieces, he sounds equally as good in them all. It’s him rather than the gear.
The tone from those old Selmer Mk VI's is imitated by many brands but never duplicated. The old Bueschers and Martin's had great tone also.
thank you for posting this, its helping me with my walking basslines, very cool.
One of most favourite song and play really well . Thank you for sharing
What a beautiful clear tone you have, and such lovely songs you choose
Awesome
That is a beautiful sound, as a matter of fact Stan Getz probably just rolled over in his crypt he was green with envy?! Thanks for posting.
There's a lot of Micky Mouse players out there at the moment who haven't got a clue, but you've got it all, I could listen to you all day.Bravo.
beautiful just beautiful thanks for this perf
thanks for this heavenly music
When I worry about the state of jazz performance, this reminds how important it is for strong exemplars of swing feel on saxophone because while much fewer saxophones are being purchased than in the 1930s and 1940s, there is no contemporaneous swing music environment.
Very Nice!!! I just started playing a Alto sax, love the way you do this .
Thank you for the video and for the all backtracks available
What a wonderful sound!
Thanks for the sound
i also own a Selmer from the early 1950's playing along with your recording sounding very similar with a van doren zuma mouthpiece and a fiber cell reed .. nice and bright ..
I also like your style and BIG sound very much ...
bobby g...

Had the opportunity to use a Selmer Mk VI for quite a few years, I'll haven't found anything quite like it without breaking the bank since!
Excellent quality prodact and music
Sir, this is awesome. I m following you curiously. Your saxophone's voice is shaking my heart. best of luck :)
Brilliant
Great - especially as YOU row definitively and affirmatively among and between the chord changes.
I would have adored hearing takes on tenor saxophone by: Bud Shank, Sam Most, Charles Marianno, Art Pepper, Lee Konitz, Zoot Sims, and yes, Aubra Graves, the unsung Canadian hero of "Organic Smooth Jazz" - in the strictest significance of the phrase, smooth + jazz.
Excellentissimo - tone and ad lib.
Beautiful song
