My Dear Old Friend, Rick Jackson on Keyboards. I suggested Rick to Larry when I was in his band back in the mid 90’s and Rick has been with him ever since.
I was in the audience at this concert, at the "New Morning" bar in Paris, over 20 years ago. I met Steve at the bar afterwards. Not a word, he was very, very tired🤢. He just looked at me as if he was in another dimension. I showed him the pick I had caught during the concert and said "thank you". He smiled at me anyway. I still have it in my box since then and I've played a Musicman several times with it, but no matter, it's not up to the standard of the master Luke.😢
You would think he would have conversed a little bit... too bad... such a gifted guitarist!... I met Brian Johnson and he was the opposite... invited my wife and I to come over and have a beer with him... can't say enough about what a genuinely nice guy he is.
@@philiprea8340 I imagine your happiness with your wife. For my part, I am not naive and if he was not in a position to do anything other than smile at me, it is surely because after these two hours of live, where he drank sips from his famous mug placed on his amp, after each song, there was little room left in his blood to add the beer of the fan that I was. It is sad, for sure but we all know, our gods are human beings and rock intoxicates in many ways.
Wow that must have been incredible…. Luke makes it look easy every time he play’s…he’s the true master has contributed on over 3000 albums that’s saying a lot…..
Steve brought out the charm of this song with his solo, which was very fluent and technically phrased, but I thought it was amazing how Larry was able to create such an overwhelming presence even with fewer notes.
I was at this unforgettable performance at "New Morning" in Paris and it was an epic as they displayed an extraordinary level of feeling and synergy, creating a palpable energy that resonated throughout the venue. Each note seemed to flow seamlessly into the next, showcasing their deep understanding of one another's playing style.

Saw Larry's band live soon after Steely Dan's album with Peg, & he opened with that song as an instrumental, so i think he was claiming that as his lick, IMHO.
this is basically Peg, and he didn't get the solo on it, Jay Graydon did. Interesting. Don't get me wrong, there was a time when I basically wanted to play exactly like Larry Carlton, just straddling the lines between jazz, blues and rock perfectly. Actually I think there was a time when *everybody* wanted to play exactly like Larry Carlton.
I think it may be Ton Dijkman, who is Dutch and has played with Jan Akkerman. Check out the live video of Ackerman's "Streetwalker". The groove is wonderful as is this.🙂
saw him at Baked Potato in 84 but then 4 mons later good ol Luthaker was a fill in ! boy what a surprise with Abe on bass n drums.. jeff Pocaro wow! tickets $30 !
Room 335 is a song by Larry Carlton. ES-335 is the model of his Gibson guitar and room 335 is the name of his home studio (also named after the guitar model). The song was an intentional and obvious take off on the main chords and feel of Peg, however it's not Peg, it is a separate piece. The original studio recording of the song is actually better than this live version if you want go check it out. IMHO ruclips.net/video/KN6AV-NsGVA/видео.html
Boring and meaningless typical US American imbreeding 1980's supermarket background music for me only. But what else can you you expect from a country, which has elected a Donald Trump a second time? Musical taste, quality or any musical innovations? Certainly not! Decades ago things had been different. Long time ago and Carlton a Lukather also just do, what they already had done decades ago, as if the world has not completely changed meanwhile. But both anyway never had been my musical favorites. Too commercial, too boring, too little unique and innovative. If music should reflect and interprete reality, they have been stuck in time decades ago or they simply cannot do anything else within their own echo chambers, which both is disappointing.
Two of the world’s greatest guitarists!
Nowhere near the greatest but ok all the same
Steve's guitar tone is just amazing. It's just another level.
Amazing
What does he use?? One of those damn Klon things??
Yep' that's the Lukather tone alright😉✌️😊...and ain't it grand😁👍

Never thought Larry David could play guitar that good!
Great Musicians, great solo’s. Glad to see and hear that even Larry can play notes he wanted to avoid at 4:13. I do that all the time 😉
Oopsie daysie 😂😂 what the heck happened there
Lots of love and respect between those two, as it should be.
Two of the greatest session guys to ever play. They made your records sound fantastic.
Adoro a Larry‼️ Es único y con Steve… wooooow‼️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Cette version est géniale, avec ses deux grands guitaristes de talent
Amazing talented musicians. 👍🎸😎✌️
Two masters at work.
Ooooooo yessss!!! 👍👍👍
Saw Steve at The Bataclan in 1997,what a great day to remember, TOTO FOREVER❤Larry CARLTON❤
So nice just to hear their talents. Soooo good
Excellent ARTIST!!!!!!!
Fantastici,un connubio tra 2 Fenomeni in un brano eccezionale. Grazie
Love how Larry clams on his own tune at the end. That’s live baby!

I would love to hear Scott Henderson and Larry Carlton together
大きな事件も乗り越えて復活したラリー、いつまでも一線で活躍してほしい。最高❗️
Was in Japan recently and hoped he may perform while there but alas it wasn't to be. I knew he'd been on many occasions.
Those two are phenomenal legends❤
Exquisite, says it all.
I just have one thing to say HOLY COW🎉😮
Excellent !
My god! Fantastic playing and such a great tune!
geweldig duo heb ze vaak life gezien, i have a plactrum from Larry and a picture of my son with Steve, in the Netherlands
Live in Paris 2010. Fantastic...
Love his playing.
❤Steve THE BEST❤
Forest Whitaker on bass!!
Lukather fait un solo incroyable 🤟
Doesn’t get any better
Soooo good. ❤❤❤
YES SIR

師匠を凌駕しようかという位に名声を得た弟子との共演。両者の喜びが伝わって来ますね。
En hora buena!!!

🙏♥️🙏
Steve and Larry: Two legendary talents. You don't build the kind CVs these guys have unless you are the real deal.
Sooo true
ラリー・カールトン師匠は勿論だが、ルカサーも最高!!
❤🤩❤
I'll need therapy in order to forgive myself for not having put enough attention to Carlton's sound before. Now I can't get enough of it.
Wao🎉
I sent kisses 💋 💋💋
From Japan.
we were there..just before they headed to Japan in 2011

CJ Vanston on keys I think. Check out the Fibes drums made in Nazareth, PA.
That's Rick Jackson.
I see Chris Kent!! :)
Yes, the great late Chris! Sadly, he passed away in 2001.
Are those Dumble Overdrive Special heads back there?
拝啓 ラリー様

やっぱこれだね
I thought they were teasing "Peg".
spiced up version of Steely Dan-Peg
Yes, song obviously based on Larry's lick..
I notice Larry is not playing a Sire.
0:12 「ちゃんと合ってるかぁ?」"Is it all right?"
I can hear the third guitarist playing. Where is he?
so who played that figure first, Larry or Donald with Peg?
I think it came from Larry in a 'Dan' studio jam. Saw his band right after Peg was released, & he opened with that; no vocals, of course.
Fantastic! Where in LA is this?
The concert was held in Paris
It’s not Peg people! It’s Room 335 which is something of a homage to Peg.
Does anyone know who the drummer is?
I think it may be Ton Dijkman, who is Dutch and has played with Jan Akkerman. Check out the live video of Ackerman's "Streetwalker". The groove is wonderful as is this.🙂
@@ColinMacPhail.actually, I just did a bit of research… pretty sure drummer is Gary Ferguson.
Hey! How old is Larry Carlton anyways? Is it my imagination or is he getting younger? Or, maybe I'm just getting older? I need to think on that!
