I purchased a '21 in late '20 in preparation for retirement. I wanted that V8 over the problematic 3rd gen trucks. I tow a small trailer much like your size.....I believe it's a bit lighter than your latest one. I don't have a trans cooler, but one is on the horizon. I am waiting for my first trans service to knock two birds with one stone. One mod that I had to do was a CAT shield since stealing CATs in my state is past time. I have a scan gauge and noticed that the shield adds about 10-12 degrees to the TFT. The third step is one mod that I hope to get done soon. I keep a small HF step to help me access the bed for now. I have been following your channel for quite some time and appreciate all of your thoughts and information that you share regarding our beloved Tundra.
Did you ever consider the Roadmaster Active Suspension system instead of airbags? If you did, what led you to choosing the Firestone airbags instead? We have a 2018 Tundra CrewMax Limited towing a Lance 2375 -- or at least attempting to, once we sort out the rear end squat and weight distribution. My wife and I have been told, "There's no way your truck can tow that trailer," and we point to your channel as proof it can be done. Thanks for the inspiration!
How did you get the underseat storage? I have a 2021 Tundra Crew Max and I don't see how you can add the underseat storage? Am I missing something? Please let me know. Thanks for the great content. Love your truck!!
I've made similar upgrades to yours, changed out the head unit with a Sony XAV-9500ES, replaced battery with AGM (no charging issues), added front TRD sway bar. SumoSprings in the rear. Still way cheaper and more reliable than buying any of today's over priced 1/2 ton trucks. Even the Car Care Nut will tell you naturally aspirated engines will be more reliable and outlast these turbo charged engines
When you changed your head unit out, did you notice any significant quality in speakers or volume? I have the stock Apple CarPlay unit, but I have heard these units are really underpowered which affects the audio quality and Wanted to hear your experience.
I think it depends on the conditions you tow. Flat ground 60-65, not a big deal. Hilly terrain, or 70mph+, I would watch the temps and if they start to go over 220, I would invest in a trans cooler.

Yes, it got substantially better
i have a 2021 tundra do you think it will be fine without a trans cooler if i only tow up to 10 times a year and no more then 6-7k lbs?

Just add one , I did the on my 19 and never have it above 195 f towing 6k lb trailer
See a few mods I need to make on my Tundra. Step is going to be the first.
It's been very helpful, such a convenient mod, should come standard
the AMP Research 75309-01A Bedstep Bumper Step is not cheap but very good quality, I'm going to install it spring time
The Toyota OEM step is made by AMP Research
@@phil1723 thanks!!!
