Currently learning drums after a long meandering path away. Your videos are on a great level, mindset and cerebral videos are helpful. My wife has various t shirts similar to yours for everyday of the week👍 having 6 daughters I stress intelligent and good hearts first over appearance compliments- I want them to be independent- long thank you but i like what you’re saying to younger female players

Hi Christian, thank you so much for this lovely comment. Its so important to me to try and help others and especially try and be a positive role model for young women. So glad drums are back in your life

    Hi Ciara
If you want to ‘Geek out’ try playing straight 1/8ths over the bar so it switches to up beat 1/16ths in the second bar as your ostinato and play your regular grooves underneath. Or better still 1/4 note hi hat ostinato which will take 4 bars to resolve and whatever groove underneath. Even better 1/8th note and 2 1/16ths(tea Coffee !) as your ostinato. 4 bars to cycle.
The whole point of odd times I thought is not to make them sound odd. All these concepts help you to play 2 bar or 4 bar cycles.
I’ve done a video and solo stretching out some of these ideas on RUclips. Check them out !
