Who wants Olivia to return to the Whoniverse?
I had hoped she'd pick up the Sonic in the new seasons, but I do love Jodie. Maybe next time
Or even Whoville!
This is a channel for abject morons. Fuck you.
@@stephanie7638 When I heard one of the actresses from Broadchurch was going to be Dr. Who - I was over the moon thinking it was Olivia Colman. Very disappointed it was Jodie - not enough gravitas to balance with the goofy. I think OC could have quelled many of the nay sayers. And the show runner offered it to OC first, who turned it down.
Me
Yes. Her role in Broadchurch was phenomenal and was well deserved for #1
The scene in the courthouse where she was shouting at her son blew me away.
Mick
All her court scenes were phenomenal, but I think the most riveting for me was when Bishop was accusing her of framing Joe and having an affair with Hardy. 😬
She was amazing in Broadchurch so sad it’s ended
just watched whole season 1 on netflix overnight!
As I read on the Internet : people started watching Broadchurch because of David Tennant, but they kept on watching because of Olivia Colman. Her work in this series is simply brilliant. This show is a must-see.
Not me, I started watching for two other reasons: firstly, because the setting of Broadchurch was largely that of West Bay in Dorset, just down the road from where I originate and it was fantastic to see such a stunning location be brought to national attention; and the second was for Olivia Colman. Having seen her in various comedic roles mentioned here and then her incredible performance in 'Tyrannosaur', I had to see what she brought to 'Broadchurch' and was blown away by her. She's so, so good!
I honestly started watching it because of both of them. I love them so much, and in this show they're both PHENOMENAL. Acting 10/10
Her performance when she finds out who the killer is in season 1 was absolutely shattering. Outstanding work.
That was one of the most heartbreaking pieces of television I've ever seen. Brilliant
I have yet to see “The Favourite,” but her work in “Broadchurch” was epic. Epic.
PREACH
She is perfection in The Favourite. Her Oscar is deserved. But, honestly, Rachel Weisz was the MPV of the film. Good gracious, Rachel did everything.
It is fantastic!... I've seen most of the clips here and the top 3 are phenomenal (Tyrannosaur is no 1 in my opinion)
Agreed!!!
@@michaelenglish1992 Rachel deserved that supporting actress oscar and i will never get over it xD
Now Olivia Colman joins Kate Winslet, Rachel Weisz, Emma Thompson, Tilda Swinton, Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Vanessa Redgrave, and Helen Mirren as the great British actresses.
Julie Andrews and Audrey Hepburn?
Helena Bonham Carter?
All are counted as the greatest, whether they win an Oscar or not.
@@kristynahorackova9773 Also counted. A magnificent yet layered actress.
@@nanjappakambeyanda The legends are counted too.
I will never forget watching Tyrannosaur for the first time.
I remember watching the trailer before going to the movie theater, and just her facial expressions in it made me want to cry on the spot (I was like “what the hell??”; I never cry watching trailers). I vaguely recognized Olivia’s face, having seen her previously only in that one episode of Skin which I had rewatched a lot and in which she played the quirky hippie mother of one of the teenage characters…
I remember the little movie theater, the color of the seats, where we were seated, how many people were in the room with my gf and I (only three, on the other side of the aisle). I remember the silence after the end credits, nobody dared to speak, we all left the theater walking very slowly, we were all in shock.
The movie was so hard and impactful, dark and beautiful too.
But mostly, Oliva Coleman’s performance floored me, it shook me to my core. It was breathtaking.
It’s the way she portrayed Hannah’s fear that got me the most; her eyes, her body language. Just heart wrenching.
I could not believe this unknown actress who had only played quirky, awkward supporting characters was turning before my eyes into this huge HUGE dramatic actress.
To me, still one of the best performances committed to film. I’ll never get over it.
It doesn’t matter that she did not get an academy award for it. Paddy Constantine (the director) said there was just no money to launch an award campaign. However, people who watched her on the screen were not blind. This movie changed Olivia Coleman’s life and gave her the career she has today!
Thanks for the nice and accurate comment. Olivia Colman is exciting in everything she does.
Broadchurch is one of the best crime stories.
Ann Björklund Watch Line of duty it’s better
No doubt!
He was 11. I can watch that scene thousands times, always having goosebumps. She's incredible
Whatever she does, she is phenomenal! The kind of actor that absolutely transports you and makes you believe that a so-and-so is a real person. She never disappoints.
Love this and so true ❤
I was gonna be so mad if Broadchurch wasn't on the list and it turned out to be in the perfect spot. Thank you. She deserves so much acclaim fir her work.
I just love Olivia Colman! She is an amazing actress and funny as hell to boot! She has such a lovely personality and seems like a genuinely wonderful person all around! Thank you UK for sharing her with the rest of us!!
Tyrannosour is her best work PERIOD! That's where she should have won her first Oscar.
By now, Her role in The Crown is the most brilliant yet. God I cried at the end of Aberfan
Can't wait to see her in The Crown
I know it's going to be awesome! We will have to feature that performance somewhere!
I literally jumped for joy when I heard that she was going to portrait the Queen's mature period. What an amazing idea. Following Claire Foy was worrying me but I am at ease now knowing that she's the one relaying Foy's work.
Her performance in The father was magnificent
There’s something about her that draws you in. That broadchurch reveal episode is one of the best acting I’ve ever seen. Absolutely magnetic
Her performance in Broadchurch was outstanding. I have been rooting for her ever since
I completely fell in love with Oliva as Ellie Miller❤️
I think her guest spot on "Midsomer Murders" should have made the list. It was creepy and chilling yet very sweet.
Olivia Colman’s such a good actress. It’s always nice to see her in something.
Nice
Ellie Miller broke my heart! That performance was unbelievable. She's so good in everything, it would be so easy to get jealous of her. But she's so lovely! I wish her more and more success in the future.
Love her on Graham Norton. She's such a genuine and humble human being.
Tyrannosaur is devastating. Her performance in that could be put up against any oscar winning turn. Its a perfect performance.
Thank you, Yo mo!!!!! FINALLY, someone else who agrees with me on that one. Mullen and Marsen were also wonderful, but Colman owned that film.
It can be... such a hard film, because it is devastating and hard to watch such brutality but it is captivating and they are both so good. Eddie Marsan, too, but Olivia and Peter Mullan are great. I saw it so many years ago, and only the once, but I still remember, ugh, the thing about the broken glass. Just. Yeah. Hard. But very full.
@@amandakenneally8475 Agreed!!!!!
I have never wanted to hug or hold a character more than Hannah. When she's drunk on the phone and begs her husband to not hurt her anymore made me cry, and then the rape scene was too much. It's a hard film to watch but she's incredible.
@@dwalker1974 Yup, and I remember thinking of Eddie in Vera Drake, and how completely different he is in this. Such an evil, sadistic man, who gets what he deserves. Everyone has a limit as to what they can and will take and although Hannah took WAY more than maybe she should have, eventually, she drew a line, he stepped over it, and,....Well, you know the rest. Again, this was the first time I saw her and they were talking Oscar then. I was soooooo pissed when she was overlooked, but they made up for it with this win, although again, truth be told, she should have won the first one for Tyrannosuar.
Olivia is by far my Favourite actress. I personally think she is the best to grace our screens.
You do not understand how much I love Olivia Colman
I knew back when I first saw Peep Show a long time ago that there was something special about Sophie... the actress felt like she was way ahead of everybody there and I am just so happy that she won her first oscar and shes getting the recognition she deserves! I love that she was also in Mitchell and Webb look...
I saw Tyrannosaur in 2012 and it stayed with me- her performance broke my heart. I would never watch it again, it was devastating, made me angry and sad at the same time and the scene at the end when she was on remand- she looked so beautiful, one of the most hopeful endings to what was a very difficult film to watch
I love Olivia she is truly a gifted actress
Olivia Colman is a great artist. Hope to see more of her ♥️♥️❤️🌹🌷
Greetings from Argentina 🇦🇷
Thank God for Olivia
Not to mention her appearances in Hot Fuzz, The Iron Lady, Murder on the Orient Express etc as well as tv shows like Dr Who and Midsomer Murders - the list is endless
Really like her performance in Fleabag. She shows how a mean stepmother looks like.
I'm so glad The Queen conquered the Oscar
It's about damn time that she's finally beginning to get the recognition she truly deserves.
Think the first movie I saw her in was 'The Lobster.' It was a small part, but I remember thinking, "I like her. Hope to see her in more stuff."
Then 'The Favourite' came out and just loved her in it. Oscar well deserved!!
Can't wait to see her as Queen Elizabeth in 'The Crown.'
Hope she will continue to grow and get some amazing roles.
Watch Tyrannosaur, - you will love her even more.
I honestly don't know why Olivia Coleman is popping up on my home page all the time.... but I love it
She was so damn good in The Favourite.
My favourite is her role as Debbie Doonan in Beautiful People ❤️
She was terrific as Debbie!
I totally forgot that was her. I loved that show.
Mine too!
Such a good show!
Devastated this wasn't on the list. Phenomenal
Olivia Colman is a gem. Her Ellie Miller character is a must-watch on Broadchurch. Go figure.
I would have add her role in Beautiful People, her character was crazy and she was awesome at it !
I loved Olivia Coleman in Broadchurch and The Night Manager.
In Broadchurch, Olivia Colman as Ellie delivers a brilliant performance. Two lines that always stuck with me were " Don't call me Ellie," and " We were happy here. " Her acting surrounding these two lines is flawless. As an avid cinephile, I've often wondered what it must feel like to be there, in the moment, as the director and camerman are capturing it. Must be quite the mystical experience.
I first saw Olivia Coleman on The Graham Norton Show and thought she was a hoot. That's when I began my odyssey into everything Olivia Coleman, whether as an actor, a guest, or a reader of letters. She's just brilliant.
Just re-watched Broadchurch for the 3rd time. SO good.
She was amazing in 2012 !
"Flowers" is the most perfect series I have ever seen. Love it! Would really like to see a third season, but I doubt that will happen.
JoAnna Wheaton Probably my favourite drama ever. Loved it, Olivia and Will were great
Add to this list her Academy Awards acceptance speech. Funny, honest, sweet, and made me cry a bit. Wow!
Also, her performance of Elizabeth II in the Crown is definitely worth mentioning!
The scene where she steals Mark's seed is super cheeky, but it's inception level. It's Olivia, playing Sophie, who's playing dumb, while she plays Mark.
The way she purses her lips in the same way as the woman who lives by the sea...the one she asked "how could you not have known?" Broadchurch. Brilliant.
Undoubtedly a national treasure of the finest qualities.
Broadchurch is so good. One of my favorite shows.
I was waiting for when her role in Broadchurch will come up in the ranking, and YES! it's number 1. Thoroughly agreed.
Always Sophie from the Peep Show, love her, well done ma'am xx
The scene in Tyrannosaur when she finally tells Joseph about all the abuse she's suffered is acted to absolute perfection, and is utterly and completely heartbreaking.
Olivia's performance as Debbie Doonan in "Beautiful People" needs to be on this list!
Seriously yes, that one crazy Reading-accented bleach blond just shows how much comedic range she has in her
@@autopathos You told no lies there, babs!
Ive got such a crush on Olivia Colman, ever since her bit part in The Office as the reporter!
Wish she had a bigger role in Doctor Who. They’ve reused Actors before though 🤞🤞
The scene where she finds out is heartbreakingly brilliant
There was a show called beautiful people, and she was so gooood! I love her since then.
These are all fabulous performances. But my fave will always be her role in Green Wing😆🥰
I didn’t see her Oscar winning movie and never really heard of her but she looks so great on these clips and was so lovely and humble winning her award that I really like her alot
She looks so plain and unremarkable, but she hooks you in when she's performing. Just check out everything that she's done. From the Peep Show to Les Mis and beyond.
I cannot recommend Broadchurch enough, if you can handle fairly heavy crime subject matter.
Peep Show is one of the best comedies of all time, but for years I couldn't stand looking at her face because her character is so unlikeable (that's a compliment to Colman's acting - the character's meant to be that way!). So be prepared for that if you watch it!
On and off camera, this woman is a gem... Oh my... ❤
Darn it to heck.....you blundered!! Her 'Debbie' in "Beautiful People" was hysterically funny, brilliant even!!!!! If you haven't seen her in it, you've miss out!!!!
Olivia Colman is an amazing actress, now as Queen Elizabeth II , I’m Season 3 The Crown; she deserves an Emmy.
Broadchurch is a thriller that takes your breath.
Bravo Olivia 👏👏👏🌷🌹🍀🌺❤️
I loved her in Green Wing 😍
She became (alongside Meryl Streep) my favourte actress of all times
I love Olivia! She is a brilliant brilliant actress and such a lovely ray of sunshine!! ❤❤❤
I would've put Hannah at No.1. Colman is outstanding in that role.
I’m so glad you made this
The scene on Broadchurch when she abused her husband was the highlight of her acting skills in my opinion. When I have watched it, I felt her pain and it was so enormously realistic and well acted. Both me and my husband were crying watching it. She is truly great actress.
That scene, yes, also in the courthouse when Ellie finally tells her son how it's going to be from here on out, telling him what's what and who's who. Meaning, Ellie (Mom) is the boss! Can watch those two scenes over and over, they are "OUTSTANDING, MILLER" (quoting Alec Hardy)!!!
Yes, I agree especially with "Broadchurch". Olivia was super brilliant in that show as Ellie Miller.
Olivia Colman is simply brilliant in whatever she takes on, enjoyed this thanks for upload.
Deborah Flowers should be higher, such a brilliant performance. But great list of this genius overall.
Wow... spoiling Broadchurch without a warning! Shame on you!
you should've seen it ages ago already :p
the first season came out 7 years ago... They probably assumed that most people would have seen it by now
Look. I never saw Broadchurch and understand nothing from the clips they showed.
Why should they? You chose to watch the video..
she's so good in Green wing too. Small character but very funny.
National treasure, she is. ❤️❤️
(Or would it be international treasure now? 😉)
I LOVED her in Skins!
#PrisonerZero
Yes, absolument an international treasure 😍
How can you miss Julie from Numberwang????
Finally. Someone asking the important questions.
Shinty-six people downvoted this video.
Looks like you're going to have to update her list!! I love her!!
she's brilliant in The Favourite... she deserve the Academy...
Hot Fuzz honourable mention?
LOVE her. Cant wait to see her other work. Very sad there won't be any more seasons of Broadchurch :-(
Beautiful People! She was phenomenal in that
I have always loved her. She must be just thrilled at her Oscar win and I couldn’t be more pleased for her.
I'm glad you picked Rev. She is brilliant in that. There are some episodes on here.
Where’s hot fuzz?
For the greater good.
Nothin' like a bit o' girl on girl!
@@jameswhelan8275 A GREAT BIG BUSHY BEARD!
Wow...THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
Thanks for the role reminders of this remarkable actress.
The Favorite is good no doubt...but for me the best Colman performance will be Tyrannosaur forever. In a perfect world, she would have won the Oscar for that role.
Ive loved Olivia Colemean for yrs, broadchruch, flowers are amazing! I haven’t seen the favorite or some of her other works but i will def get more caught up in her long history of work! Great list! Shes so good! And unique!
I watched Broadchurch a few years back just cos it looked interesting... my kind of show, British, crime, drama... I had never seen either David Tennant or Olivia Coleman before, nor did I know who anything about them.. OMG - TOTALLY blew my mind... it was incredible and I've been huge fans of them both ever since...
Holy Moly haha that guitar solo tough, every time he talks. I can't resist to laugh a little. Really nice vid thanks for making this!
simply one of the greatest
I first saw her in The Nightmanager and had to find out who she was. In this series you can clearly distinguish between great actors and "normal" actors.
Absolutely spot on choices.
She was also phenomenal in an episode of Accused.
Just discovered Olivia from across the pond. Her talent is unmistakable. Her personality is delightful. In the US young girls want to be like Meryl Streep. In the UK I would assume they would want to be like Olivia Colman.
By a coincidental fact, Olivia Colman starred in a small role in The Iron Lady featuring Meryl Streep as PM Margaret Thatcher, of which Streep won her 3rd Oscar (and her 2nd Oscar win for Best Actress), overall.
broadchurch is really one of the best shows ever seen and she is SPECTACULAR in it
the Mum in the series "Beautiful People". a standout performance for me..the ep when she shares a memory with her son about her best friend passing when they were living it up in London brings tears to my eyes. the series is also Very funny on the opposite end of the spectrum. She is a great actor and I am happy when I see her name attached to a project.
look at me, how dare you! close your eyes! ha ha ha... genius!
Never heard of her before Broadchurch. Now I can’t get enough of her.
Can't wait to see her in the Crown!
