I'll be starting a project like this a week from now. Using a 2003 Polaris sportsman 600 twin transmission to transfer the power through drive shafts to the front and rear diff. P, N, L, H, R. Chain drive from the motor to the input shaft on the trans.
For people that don’t get it, it’s still 4x4 and still has hi lo and reverse but the bike motor has 6 gears and connects to the rhino transmission just like the factory did it’s just got 6 more gears using everything factory except the Yamaha r1 engine. The factory motor had a belt going to the transmission and I’m guessing the r1 conversion is using a chain connecting it to the transmission
Probably the same original trans in the rhino. It’s a cvt trans normally, the 660 is probably easier since the motor is carb. That r1 motor is just so powerful in anything they put it into. I have a rhino 700 and it would be fun to do this but looks like the rear bed is gone on it, would be fun to be stealth and r1 buried in there.
It is basically a rear end box that has reverse as well. The axles attach to it.And off Corse the engine is a 1000cc from a Yamaha R1 with 170 hp and 6 speed transsmission
They do use bike motors. The YXZ uses a sled motor. The main reason I can think of they aren't using bike transmissions is because it's too fast and not geared correctly for offroad. Unless it's straight for the dunes or ypu have a dedicated track you can't drive it at the speeds a R1 is designed for

Not needed when you use it on the sand and desert. The motor redlines at about 10000 rpm and 175 horsepower
