CORRECTION ON MY MATH!! (Please read!) If the ammo return of Everlasting Flame is 5 ammo, then the minimum crit chance we need to maintain our constant flaming is 20%. This means the base Blazing Piety Keystone alone with our base crit chance is technically enough (20%). But if we want to RECOVER and gain ammo during our flaming, we need to exceed the equilibrium point and get to 25% crit chance. This makes it so that every 4 ticks of damage we deal (4 ammo), we can expect to score 1 crit where we get 5 ammo back for a net positive +1. We can achieve this with just Blazing Piety and its Modifier Righteous Warrior alone. This means we can take Unyielding Damage instead of Critical Chance to boost up our Boss DPS by a significant amount (in the video shown I have no Unyielding)! From here on out, the higher crit chance just makes it so we are extremely likely to never run out of ammo while being able to flame something, but above 30% critical chance seems like a bit of an excessive amount. Therefore, I change my recommendation to be Unyielding instead of 5% Crit Chance IF you are running Blazing Piety with Righteous Warrior.
I will certainly change my blessing of the flammer to everlasting flames, didn't know how strong it was considering the painfully slow reload animation of the weapon
Nice video, learned some cool interactions between thunderous/bloodletter and the infinite flamer. Flamer isn't OP because the ammo is so punishing it feels pointless to build around it. Building a character around something you can use for 2-3 minutes of a 30 minute run feels pointless. Just how I feel about it though. Obviously Zealot is designed to be melee focused. Love both marks of the chainaxe though, I've been loving it on melee veteran quite a bit. :)
The interaction between bloodletter and thunderous is very very interesting on the chain axe. I use the Mk. 4 of course but that blessing combo really adds some additional usefulness against the bulkier enemies that are already getting focused fired or will get stunned by the chain attacks. I use the Mk. 4 with all of my human builds now. Even Psyker as a quick close range executor.
The irony that this 'theme' build may very well become a meta build is funny, but goes to show that people should experiment and brainstorm new builds (which I am terrible at).
I love that you've essentially put together a Khornate corruption build. The whole thing revolves around bloodletting and taking heads (metaphorically in the flamer's case) of major enemies! This goes a little to well with the zealot personality that screams "Blood for the emperor, skulls for the golden throne!"
@@jsomeone9226 the Mk XV evis is more comfortable for horde clear imo. Nice wide sweeps for light attacks. Edit: I say this as someone who thinks the Mk IV chain axe is really fun. The newer eviscerator is just less of a workout than the chaxe when killing swarms of zombies.
I have to force myself to use the chainaxe simply because I like the M15 chains word too much. Lopping off heretic heads amd still chewing through elite health is always fun
This is actually very similar to one of the build i run with the zelot, though i went down the stealth rout, just because i like to go invisible, go behind a group of gunners and flame them all. I DO NOT RECCOMEND IT AT ALL, but i'll do it anyway.
Where music ? I liked the smooth jazzy upbeat music! In any case, many thanks for this build! Quite interesting to see powerful builds that deviate from standard stuff, I'm gonna get my hands on a decent flamer and try that (OP) blessing!
Either Chainaxe is actually great on the Psyker. I strongly suggest trying the MKIV and leveraging the Psyker's innately better stamina regen to be able to safely horde clear while still having incredibly good burst damage vs. Elites and Bosses. If it didn't have such mediocre dodge distance I'd be comfortable saying it's one of the best all-rounder weapons in the game. It just performs.
My friend keeps talking about the ax, I gotta try it huh. Edit: if you take a point out of second charge and find another point, you can get the backstab recharge node and have constant charge uptime too!
Also, also, I love the flamethrower in VT2, but I am not a fan of it in DT for some reason and the same with the throwing knife (mainly b/c I suck at it though I have been playing a build with both recently to see what I can do with it) and this build uses both 🤣 I do have a build that's conceptually similar to this just with an eviscerator and the knives traded for nades.
I did consider it! But Fury gives you the ability to run at the enemy like a madman - as well as giving you a buff to fight of longer since you can one shot everything anyway :)
@@rykenxiv Talking about stealth, I modified the build you used here a bit for a stealth version, and it built well but I don't know which weapon to use with stealth, I can't stand the carpal tunnel knife, do you have an alternative? IIRC stealth doesn't work well with chainsword/axe type weapons.
@@mossblomma It used to work well since if you activated the Shredder and then go into stealth, it would preserve your invisibility, giving you a second free crit attack! This has since been changed to no longer be the case.. If attack spamming isn't something you'd like, the more measured attacks of the Crucis Thunder Hammer might be more agreeable - though it is slower. Dueling Sword would probably be a good replacement for the knife and still make use of the buffs from stealth. However, your horde clearing won't be as strong.. So I guess it depends on what you are trying to accomplish with your melee weapon!
hmm..I tried it and it looked pretty cool in the Psychanium, but the (Auric) reality is that all too often you hit some random poxwalker in a horde and not the elite you wanted to clip with your chainaxe special attack.
Yep and then it is too slow to deal with mixed hordes. You fall back on the flamethrower to get rid of the lesser threats and let your team deal with the specials and elites which defeats having such an elite killing machine in the first place. Works wonders in the melee ennemies Maelstrom games though. That dash back immediately after bloodletter is awesome there.
@@LETSROCKTA very good idea with the melee Maelstrom games, should really shine here. Gonna try that. Maybe even for Monstrous Maelstrom coz I'm still no fan of the thunderhammers
How much will I suffer if I skip "Sustained assault" in the bottom right corner? I'm really tired of going for Blades of faith (although they are useful). I skipped "Sustained assault" which gave me points to still pick "Second Wind" and "Enduring faith" but I went down the "Immolation grenade" path instead.
A 20% damage loss will be felt, but really only against groups of Brusiers. Poxwalkers and groaners still go down pretty easily without Sustained Assault. Even without it, you'll still mow Elites down in one-shot, so the core of the build still works. Immolation will give you addition area control and crowd clearing, but my concern with your choice of having no Knives would be having no way to deal with ranged enemies effectively (unless you aren't using the Flamer)!
These videos are great but you should further emphasize the downsides to any builds through conjecture of possible scenarios. And go over any compensations, either through the talent tree or play style required to sustain the desired effect of the build. That way we have a more well rounded “buyer beware” mentality.
I'm to figure out how to include it without sitting an entire missions in because most people don't want to watch the whole thing. Perhaps highlights or something... I'll consider it for the next build video!

Flamer was loads of fun. Well done for making this video. Sucks at crushers but great for everything else
Chainaxe is good, a lot of people are surprise when i use it with my veterant but nice idee for a spooky theme
What kinda build ?
@glimmerxp nothing special i didnt even use the tech he show us its just a good weapon and some people still think irs bad

I don't find I need Until Death for my play :x Disdain helps push the killing power of the Chainaxe up a little more since it can make use of it!
How does penetrating flame compare with overpressure on the flamer?
Penetrating flames will provide more consistent value over the course of your game since overpressure scales up and down with ammo!
