Debs husband says I recently bought a Cobra 148 gtl at a hamfest for $20. It works like new! It has a great receiver and really good audio. I think I got a good buy.
I don't have any of these radios yet, but, I just ordered the 980 Uniden ssb radio. Your reports are positive and several others were also positive, and since I've not had a new radio in awhile, and really didn't need one, but I WANTED one, so here we are, one more radio coming soon. It must be a sickness. Every once and awhile I seem to need a fix - another cb radio. You have an interesting collection of radios and since you obviously have the cb sickness, you will be adding to that collection. We never have enough, do we?
I think that you will enjoy the 980 SSB. My new vintage radio should be coming by the end of the week, I've been pretty good staying away from purchasing radios lately, but I couldn't resist making an offer. I'll make a video when it arrives. 73s from 595 Nothern Nevada!
I also love cb HAM transceivers and i also have a collection. My first radio was the President Lincoln2+ export and a President MCKinley EU export CRT SS 9900V4 CRT SS 7900V Turbo Radioddity QT60 and also my recent President George II and now i am buying the President Washington which is going to be released at the end of june Begin of july! Thanks for sharing your collection @Ridge Hiker 73's.
I had the JC Penney radio 981-2785, with the volume control on the mic. My dad got it for me for my birthday one year, and set it up as a base station in my bedroom. Used it with a Realistic power supply and a 1/4 wave ground plane antenna. I ran a D-104 mic on it as well.
When I hook up that particular radio, I get great reports. It's also a great sounding radio. You can pick them up pretty cheap on eBay, but most of them don't have the original microphone anymore. Thanks for watching! 73s from 595 Lake Tahoe Nevada!
hey, I have a damaged GE 3-5980A, it does not work from the battery because it has a broken red + from the board, do you have a diagram or an exact photo where to solder it?

That’s a great radio and price! Those usually go for around $150 on Ebay. Thanks for watching.

I'm glad that I am not the only one with the old radio collecting disease!
It's bitten me again, glad to have company!
I have the 40 channel brother of the JC Penny base.
I also run a 465 in my daily driver

I posted a photo of the board with the wire's location for you on my community tab.
