    Also I purchased five packs of nocturnals. After 1 month of shooting there were 2 that were not destroyed by hitting soft targets. (Literally the lit nock would be all the down my arrow shaft if i was lucky. Usually the clear plastic they use is just to briddle and snaps somewhere). I would call this the worst lit nock available. But thats just my experience 5x over and i shoot around 300 fps)
    Maybe they are a one and done concept like a mechanical. Either wayi was disappointed. Kept thinking i got a bad batch. Turned out to just be a bad material choice for the concept.
    I love your videos and how you go through them. Keep it up!
    Hoping halo makes a decent 4mm nock. Waiting to try them.

    I liked your review, and wasn't surprised that Nocturnal came in 1st place, but I shoot a crossbow, and these were all vertical bow nocks. I've had issues with Lumenok, namely like you, they're so hard to shut off! The Nocturnals are almost as hard, and you need that little tool in your pocket to shut them off! But I suspect most of my issues with nocks lie with my Barnett Raptor FX and not the nock. I suspect my arrow holder is not holding the nock properly, causing it to slip away from the trigger wall. Thanks for the review, as I'm now going to hold off on trying out the Firenocks.

    I've used nockturnals the last 2 seasons because of price and the brightness. have shot 2 elk and 1 muley. the nocks have never turned on for me until I get to the arrow and tap it on the ground... not sure if I am doing something wrong or it is just a fluke but they are going in the garbage.... but the arrow I shot my bull with this year (once deciding to turn on) has been sitting in my garage for almost 2 weeks now and is still on so that's a plus.

      I used to have an issue with the .165 nocks breaking, but haven't had any issues with the .204 size and larger. I'd take a look into glory nocks for a budget friendly option, I was told they were redesigned to fit the string better. For the top of the line Firenock is unbeatable.

    You don't want them easy to turn off at all. Remember, when they pass through a deer you want them to stay on. Lumenoc is by far the best. Just buy a Lumenoc extinguisher and problem solved

  • @iHustleLXXXI

    I would say your video applies to compound bow shooters but for crossbow users the lumenok are the best option. I shoot/hunt with an Excalibur crossbow and all I use are lumenoks and they work perfectly. I think your video is geared toward vertical bow shooters and not crossbow’s.

  • @flip66five
    @flip66five 3 года назад

    My experience...
    Lumenoks are very bright but very heavy. My scale says 27.5 gn. Their ease of use is directly related to their fitment... they definitely need to see some sand paper before shooting...dont sand too much though...
    Nockout... good price, easy switch, not bright against competition but you can see them. Light. My scale says 23gn. With a bushing installed.
    Nocturnal... bright and cheap, turning them off makes me wanna jump of a cliff.. a tad heavier than the nockout, not as heavy as the lumenok...I can't weigh one, I gave them away

    Not sure where you got battery life information, my guess is from "advertised data". Real world use...non of these last as long as Firenock, at least in the colder Wisconsin weather. Another plus is Firenock offers 3 different batteries from long shelf life to the brightest. They also offer 3 different light circuit's. Hunting circuit stays lit until you shut it off. Intermittent circuit is a solid light for 7 seconds, then blinks. Target circuit shuts off automatically after so many seconds. When it comes to versatility, none can compare to Firenock. Over many years of trial, frustration and disappointment with almost each one in this "battle", I finally spent the money on Firenock's and glad I did. My personal setup is the intermittent circuit's with the BR batteries. That flashing nock is a beacon after dark. Think you're going to be quite satisfied with your choice to use the Firenock's. Simple on, simple off and every bit as bright as Lumenok when using the BR batteries and you don't need the F.A.S.T. (fletched arrow squaring device) to ensure consistent contact. Happy shoot'n and good luck!

    • @Chestthumperoutdoors
      @Chestthumperoutdoors  3 года назад +2

      I got it from turning them on and leaving them on taped to a whiteboard and taking pictures of them everyday as well as writing down the time I took the picture. So it came from real world use, in a controlled environment where all nocks were brand new out of the package and subjects to the same things.
      I've got around $400ish invested in the firenocks lighted nocks, its probably the best system on the market.

      @maknbacon7367 3 года назад

      @@Chestthumperoutdoors Thank you for sharing your battery test info and results. Gott'a admit, I'm surprised as it's just not what I've found. I've never just turned them on and let them die either, just use in the field. My personal take from this would be that some batteries don't drain as fast while NOT lit or exposed to the elements.
      Yes sir, Firenock's are definitely an investment, but so is our sport. When you want the very best, that usually means cost. Firenock's are the only nock that the wife and I used that haven't failed while Lumenok's have been the biggest waste of money.....absolute garbage.

    • @Chestthumperoutdoors
      @Chestthumperoutdoors  3 года назад

      A faster drain just means a shorter battery life.
      But in my opinion Firenock are worth it also. Only trouble is if you lose an arrow anyways your out nearly $30 in the lighted nock alone

    • @maknbacon7367
      @maknbacon7367 3 года назад

      @@Chestthumperoutdoors That's where the intermittent circuit shines. Just wait till dark if you can't find the arrow and look for that flashing beacon. The options offered by Firenock are worth the price. What Firenock battery was used in your battle? They come labeled and with a best by year. We get two solid years of use from the BR's, which are the shortest "shelf life", brightest battery he offers.

    • @Chestthumperoutdoors
