I wish they made the 7Artisans lens in F, EF or PL mount, as that way you could adapt to more lens mounts, or use a speed booster/ focal reducer with it. That’s a deal breaker to me, as I use a S35 camera so in order to use the full imaging circle of the lens I’d need to use a focal reducer adapter.
Another amazing video. My question sir is can the 7 Artisan be used effectively for only photography? Is the lens only manual focus? Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Great question. Yes, it could certainly be used as a photography lens, though with clickless aperture it's not as good as clicked photography lenses. 7Artisan does make a 50mm f1.05 also, but I have no idea how good that one is.
The one problem you might not be aware of is that the Rokinon has different filter sizes for lenses in the same series. For instance, my 85mm Rokinon cine lens is 72mm while the Rokinon 35mm cine lens is 77mm. EDIT: This is only on the AS UMC versions not the DSX versions of the Rokinons. Thank you to @vernon_x_sicboy for correcting me.
Rokinon slaughters the Art for me. Not even close on native mount to native mount. IQ is better for me, focus with the Tilta Nano, color cast, CA, and used market cost it is cheaper too. I use Z-Cams and M43 is my most used mount, though the Rokinins cover S35 (on my S6) and would cover FF if I want to go for an F6 later.
Watched the video through, but not gonna lie I really lost any kind of trust on the review given how horrible the shots on the lenses were with autofocus and how the focus was confused all over the place… If your videos look like that, I say anything you say will be taken with a huge grain of salt. Turn off the autofocus and shoot manual, at least when you’re filming a video about manual focuses! Good job other than that!
"vis a vis" oh ho, I didn't know I was watching a loquacious erudite. Appreciate the sound effects.
Great review! Battle of the budget cine lenses!

Thanks Andrew for educating me about Cine lenses!
Thanks for the video. VERY heavy vignetting on the test charts coming from the 7Artisan. Worth mentioning, I think.
He's a biased fanboy for a brand. The rokinon is great if you know how to shoot and understand lighting.
Wow, just seeing this, but some polaroid close-up filters/diopters could probably get you closer too.

It's really damn good actually. Have the whole set of vision series cine lens, but they are S35 not full frame. @@AndrewGoodCamera

I don’t think this is accurate for the dsx series
@@vernon_x_sicboy Mine don't say DSX anywhere so we must have different versions.
