  • Big and Tall Motorcycle Gear Sizing Guide
    www.revzilla.c...
    For big and tall motorcyclists finding equivalently big and tall motorcycle gear can be frustrating. In sizing up for larger riders, the answer shouldn’t be just “throw more fabric at it.” Big and Tall is not a size. There is not one specific frame, style, or model to rule them all. When looking at sizing for big and tall motorcyclists, the variances in dimensions are equally as diverse as the motorcycles, riding disciplines, and aesthetic proclivities of the riders themselves. In this guide on how to size big and tall motorcycle gear, we describe some of the common issues that larger riders run into and provide our top picks for the motorcycle gear that will best provide each of our 3 main body-types with the fitments and functionalities they are looking for.

      Agreed, though I wish they would put more time into the pant options. Not everyone likes the style of the textile overpants, and finding any company that is even accurate for larger sizes is difficult.

    • @MaaZeus

      Same here. Of course you can always find some gear but not only you may have to pay an arm, leg and kidney for them they also most likely are not a style you are looking for. IE if you are a cafe racer or cruiser guy then you may not be into the high vis adventure dad gear. Personally I am between the first and second guy. I am huge, 6 ft 3 tall, broad shouldered but also bit beer bellied cruiser driver. Finding a certified, armored riding leather or denim jacket has proven to be impossible. The few that I found were for skinny joes who do modeling work for a living but apparently do not make enough to eat anything. So far I have only a Richa hoodie that I am comfortable with but it is a loose fitting that, despite armor and kevlar lining, may not be super safe in a crash.

      I'm more of a Joe built guy but with an ass that makes the ladies almost break a neck to stare... Thing is, nothing seams to work when it comes to pant sizes... Like going up sizes in revit pants just make them longer and knee pads don't line up, and then the size that's the right length won't go up past my hips.

    RevZilla sells a lot of gear, and could put some pressure on these manufacturers for more tall cuts. If you want a leather riding jacket and are tall/skinny, your options are the JR Sonic 2.0, and Dainese D1, and you'd better like black. There's a market there.

    • @adamaj74
      @adamaj74 7 лет назад +3

      I don't know, I'd think if the market was there the manufacturers would know. It's their business to know such things.

    • @ugacherokee
      @ugacherokee 7 лет назад +2

      adamaj Manufacturers aren't omniscient and are risk averse. Most won't get that there's a market until someone else takes the risk, or retailers are shouting at them. Lots of clothing manufacturers offer tall cuts -- Eddie Bauer, LL Bean, and Carhartt (for example) make a lot of money offering everything they sell in regular and tall sizes. RevZilla has a much louder voice than I do -- they should use it to get at this boatload of money I have to spend on tall gear.

    • @adamaj74
      @adamaj74 7 лет назад +2

      Oh, so they don't sell just "Tall"? Like LT, XLT, 2XLT? But yeah, something this specialized they'll probably not take the risk unless they're sure there's enough demand. Probably a much bigger deal to manufacture/change this type of clothing/gear than regular clothing. My guess is they've ran the numbers and the return isn't big enough for the investment. Most business is probably here in the U.S. and everyone knows there are a lot more "Big" people than "Tall." lol

  • @smithe68
    @smithe68 7 лет назад +12

    Manufacturers need to make more tall and not large sizes, too many of them start their long/tall at size large, or waist size 34+, before you get the option of long/tall. How about some medium tall jackets or 30/32 waist with long inseams, and I mean long like 36!

    I'd like to see a video about good bikes to fit tall riders. There's lots of attention given to short riders being able to reach the ground but not much given to ergonomics for the tall guy. Just because the feet reach the pegs doesn't mean the knees, ankles and hips like the angles.

      Great idea! I'll pass that along. One of my personal tips is to use cycle-ergo.com to virtually size yourself on a bike before you have it in front of you. It's not always fool-proof, but it's a good starting point. -TeamZilla Chris

    Your website has a My Garage feature allowing you to "Shop Parts By Bike" that is in your garage. Have you ever thought of a My Body feature where you can enter your measurements allowing you to "Shop Gear By My Body"?

  • @kabardinka1
    @kabardinka1 3 года назад

    It would help a lot if Revzilla (and other dealers) would include extensive measurements for the gear they sell... including arm length, back length, shoulder width and for pants--- inseam and length from hip to knee. If you're going to sell clothing online, you need to be more out front about those products. Just pawning it off on the manufacturers and saying "they didn't give us measurements" isn't acceptable. Someone knows these numbers and your customers deserve that information.

    I'm 6'2" and athletic and the Icon Overlord was too short in my opinion. The 2XL felt good around my shoulders but was too short at the waist. When I raised my arms a tiny bit you could see my stomach. You can see the same problem in this video - the jacket doesn't even reach the guy's belt line in front.

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  7 лет назад +2

      In a forward riding position, a longer front jacket length would cause the jacket to bunch. That's why we see sportier jackets have shorter fronts and longer drop tails. -DrewZilla

I go to revzilla and can find big, or tall but not both although they have the biggest selection around, Most Tall sizes cut off at 40 or XL or theyre all "bake me black". the manufactures just dont produce the edge sizes in anything usefull.

      It depends on your chest, waist, and inseam sizes. Most shorter riders still have relatively average chest sizes, so many jackets are available in sizes that should fit. We do not recommend a ZX6R as a first bike. Instead, you'll learn to ride much easier on a 300-class bike like the Kawasaki Ninja 300 or a dual sport like a Honda CRF250L or Kawasaki KLX250S. -DrewZilla

      Can you be more specific when you say big man, because that can refer to all three models in this video. All of the product pages are linked below the video too if you need something specific. If you have any other questions or concerns, please reach out to our Gear Geeks at 877.792.9455 or cs@revzilla.com. Ride safe, -Pat

      Depends how big. Dainese goes up to Euro 64, which fits a 51-52 inch chest. If that's not big enough, Vanson and Bates make custom sizes. -DrewZilla
