- This is a very long, occasionally tedious, and in-depth review of the 1st Generation Flying Spur Sedan (Saloon?) from Bentley. This 2006 is finished in beautiful Midnight Emerald, and the price has come down considerably from the $200K it cost new, to now being comparable to a new Honda Pilot in base trim. Hi Bill! I’ve been watching your RUclips channel since around the time you started. I love Mercedes-Benz and cars in general just like you do. I’m originally from Atlanta, but I’m in the car business as well and had to deliver an S450 to Fort Myers this last Saturday and Sunday. After delivering the car and taking his trade, I made my way down to Naples to explore the area and I got to see Auto Haus and Auto Europa. It was so cool seeing the dealerships Bill! You’ve inspired me with my sales process so much and because of you, two years ago I was able to finally make my childhood dream happen of owning my first Mercedes W211, which I now have a 17 CLS550. And I’m only 20. I feel like the chairman of the board driving it with that scary German logo pointing to land, sea, and air. Your character is so cool and unique Bill and I’m really glad I got to visit as I got to see where a lot of the magic has happened! I still continue to watch your channel grow and I pray for many blessings on you, your family, and the crew through these weird times in our world. Take care!

Coley, thank you for your touching comment. Well said. I wish you full success and all the best. Incidently, my dad had a fully loaded 1988 MB 560-SEL. Although not the most powerful of all S produced, it was top of the line and drove like a dream and remained incredibly comfortable under poor road conditions. When he passed away in 2011 he still had the car and it was in absolute NEW condition all-over. After that, I drove it and it still hasn't reached the 100'000km on the clock. This still was the TRUE Mercedes era quality, though it may have become somewhat outdated nowadays and people are happy with "perception" of supposed quality.
Bill, if you recorded your signature "good morning", followed by the subsequent 1 to 2 minute bitch session on a daily basis, I would pay for this monthly subscription...especially if I can easily sync it with my cell phone alarm clock.
Bill is great. I loved his bit in this video about Kissimmee and fire ants.
I would also pay top dollar for a notification ringtone of Bill saying 'BIARRITZ' over and over.

I just took delivery of one of these yesterday. Paid 20K with 75600 miles. Drives exactly like you state here in your phenomenal, very entertaining, very informative video. Love the play by play! I am adding a rather expensive, made specifically for this car, 12.1 inch touch screen featuring Car Play and Bluetooth. It integrates all the different mechanics that the original came with into an updated huge Tesla like screen. Hope to enjoy her for a few years. Once again, loved the video!

An ignoramus Bill certainly is not. Quite the opposite, in fact. He knows more about cars than most people on the planet. You, on the other hand, sound like someone who should not own a very expensive Bentley. It’s intimidating to correct you but there actually was a v8 SLK. It was the R171 SLK 55 AMG.

Such a wicked, rare beast! While all the S55, G55, SL55s etc had a supercharged V8, AMG snuck in a naturally aspirated version in a few SLKs! Ultra unique and awesome. Europe even got a Black Series! 🤤
*Edit* Before a Benz Buff corrects me, yes, there was a naturally aspirated 55 motor for a couple years. I was referring to the period when all the others were supercharged, but the SLK55 rumbled a non-blown unit.

@@pestoking2469 Ah, talk about a rare sleeper. Those C55s were beastly, but I prefer the stodgy, wood/leather, nuts n' bolts style of the C43. Loved the mini W140 look with a V8 shoved in the engine bay.

I was detailing Bentleys and Rolls in 1989. I worked at Bramen Motor cars in west palm beach . If i did a detail job like Daltons I would have been canned.
Awesome review of this car Bill. This version of the Flying Spur is awesome, but the new one that was introduced for 2020 is even better. The new interior is the best of any car out there and it now has it's own unique platform. Gorgeous car indeed. 207 mph top speed.
Thoroughly enjoyed this - two years later.... Wish I could go pick it up!

Personaly, sitting up high actually makes me feel more at danger than sitting down low. This is a better, more cost effective alternative to a new SUV. It's already depreciated, and the W12 seems to be adequately reliable.

All other info comes from the sheets of paper she's reading. She did make me laugh while reviewing the SL500 though, when she said that there was storage space in the trunk. Who'd have thought?

These Cars are hard to afford in Holland Europe, massive Road Tax, Insurance Tax, High Gas Price, and High maintenance cost's.
For Example were I live , a Car has to be 40 Years Old to get a Classic Road Tax on it !
Saw one of these in white this morning while driving into Toronto, also in drizzly conditions. If we don't get more sunny days soon, I'll have to adopt your whiskey therapy practice.

I didn’t think 2 VR6s joined at the hip would sound that good.
...it's so sad that VW/Bentley killed off the Mulsanne in 2020 with its ancient six and three quarter litre V8 which revs to nothing but pulls like a freight train. The Bentley Brooklands from 2007-2011 is still my favourite car in the world, with real Bentley DNA which gradually died of after the purchase from the VW group. Though one must say, that there were really insane engines from VW from that Aera....like the VR6, W8 and W12. Me personally, I'd go for the 4.0l V8 in one of those VW-Bentleys.
Bill, you should visit us here in Lower Saxony, located near the VW plant in Wolfsburg. You can pick up a Phaeton for really not that much cash, especially the Diesel ones after the Abgaskandal. Thanks again for the review, really appreciated.
Mr. B. My Uncle Ray enjoys your videos and commentary very much. In so far as the Bentley he thinks the seats in the rear of the car, well behind them, he believe it or not etc. little table is supposed to come down for a laptop or a little desk, He thinks he saw it was just kind of hidden.
