Hey Jesse, my names Michael Gualtieri. I'm here to state this past year of 2018 has been one of the toughest years of my life all because of one person, my father Chris. Back in January my father had emergency surgery after losing his spleen and was on bed rest for awhile, leaving me to do all of the house chores. But not long afterwards I get an email from my bank account saying I had less than 25 (which didnt make sense since I worked all summer having at least 1,000 dollars in my account) so I then check my account finding out I had nothing in it at all, zero. My dad took all my money (I was 16 turning 17 at the time, so I legally needed to have adjoined account w/ him at Bank of America) which had the 1,000 dollars I made working over as a busboy at my family's restaurant the summer, he gambled it all in Atlantic City after getting too drunk and losing his own money. A week later, I checked my account again, but this time it was saying I had 2,500 dollars after he gambled again winning back what he lost and more some. But he slowly started taking my money bit by bit until I had bout 800 because he said he gave me the money and had right to it. I then thought at least I could make back my money by working during the weekends at the restaurant, but I wasn't getting paid since my father was in charge of the moneys. I was only getting paid w/ tips from the waitress Joan, who was a good person and friend but she couldn't pay enough since it was dead of winter. (Just FYI I live in New Jersey 2 and use time live in Margate which is on the same island as Atlantic City). Slowy during May, I noticed my father was acting very strange, sleeping alot and acting aggressive alot. I then find out a horrible secret, after the time of my father's spleen accident he got highly addicted to pain killers that was prescribed to him, that's why he was acting so strange and why he took so much of my money while also refusing to pay me or the other innocent employees at the restaurant (Btw the family restaurant is called Barrels of Margate, fine Italian seafood) he was taking the money to buy the painkillers from black market doctors and drug dealers. I then decided to make a big step forward and move to my moms upstate in Cherry Hill to live w/ her and my sister Emma. My Uncle Pete & Mom mom (that's what I call my grandmother) got my father to a rehab center, but only stayed for a few days since his insurance ran out. He demanded me to come home, but I stood up to him and decided to live with my mom full time. After sometime when I signed up to my new high school, it turned out my father was losing his house, the house I grew up in due to not paying bills (again because of his addiction). So in late October Me, my mother and my other Uncle John (who was my father's only brother who would speak to him at the time) helped move all his crap and any leftover stuff of mine to get out of there the day b4 he got evicted. He knew he was losing his house for weeks and did absolutely nothing at all, didnt pack anything in boxes or getting a moving truck or anything like that). My dad now currently lives w/ his mom (my mom mom) in Margate w/ no job, no car, no house, no friends w/ barely any money and just eats and sleeps all day long. But lately my mom mom gave him access to her car and I've asked him numerous times to come up to Cherry hill for a visit (and I know I should go down to see him and my grandmother to, but the only car we have is used by my step dad who works as a carpenter long hours and the local train from AC to Philly I'd take wont be working till mid January due to construction) but hes never came once while barely calling me which makes me feel like he dosnt have any interest in me, hell even before his addiction he barely spent time w/ me. So this Christmas eve, my Uncle Pete is hosting the families annual Christmas party and this is gonna be the 1st time I've seen my dad since October. Also his birthday is the day after Christmas so theres that too. (For along time, I blamed myself for how out of control things got. I felt like I should have seen something was wrong w/ him and should have tried to help him in some way weather talking to him or tell my grandmother or mom that he wasnt too good. They tell me it wasnt my fault, but it still doesn't feel good). At this point, I honestly don't know how to fix my relationship w/ him. His desperation to keep it out of Boogie's hands is very suspect but why?? Is it because Boogie is "not credited" for writing the book? No. Sounds too simple. But it must be for good reason.
