Best tear down guide for the PS2 50000 series on RUclips
dont know why, but it is so satisfying to watch this :)
Indeed!
thanks for the video, decided to revive mine and your video was the only good one that matched my ps2, managed to change the battery and clean it a bit
Glad I could help
This is the best cleanup of the 50001 on RUclips!
I suppose there is no reason to change out the thermal pad on the EE, and probably wouldn't be possible to put Artic Silver on it or the other chips because there wouldn't be any contact or pressure between the chip and heat sink?
I got one to mod. It had rust on the metal shielding and was really dirty. It's hard to imagine how dirty a person can be to let things get that bad.
I don't even want to think how bad they can get. I've been lucky enough to not get any with dead roaches or rodents...yet
It was my first time tearing down a PS2 Fat I just got off eBay and honestly a pretty good and easy to follow guide can't really go wrong only thing I'd watch out for is the fan plug can be weak/brittle at the metal prongs and can come off easily if not careful but awesome video thanks heaps
Oddly enough, your teardown and your assembly made more logical sense than others I had seen. Found it largely helpful in my own attempts. I found trouble in certain steps along the way but your teardown and reassembly side steps all the issues with one minor exception the power button but I'm thinking even in a PS2 Fat that is an Ntsc-U/C I'll be able to do much the same even though the power button is attached to the top shell. Thank you.
Sorry for the late response to your comment. I greatly appreciate your feedback!
@@TRUFixes it was leaving the one screw in by the fan to hold the board together while having the top shell put back on to invert it to remove the bottom for the sake of a little more hands free access.
It made it a little simpler in regards to not having to necessarily remove ribbon cables on the DVD drive. Not really a fan of messing with older ribbon cables unless absolutely necessary. If I had a steadier pair of metal tweezers then maybe I wouldn't mind so much. More of an access/steady pressure issue due to the fragility of the older ribbon cables.
Granted I found a way to make lifted pins on a ribbon cable look like a fun fix by lifting a pad on a board completely off 😂😂😂😆
EMOTION ENGINE.
Nice video man 👍 I've just subscribed!
Thank you very much for the sub!!
@@TRUFixes did someone mail that ps2 to be fixed
Great video, thank you! One question tho: what kind of products do you use to clean? I see you use some kind of foam sponge? And what is that spray you used? Thanks!
Thank you for the view. The sponge is a Magic Eraser (mildly abrasive sponge) and the spray is just multi-purpose cleaner from the hardware store.
Nice clean up! Just doing one myself at the moment but a bit more slowly. Did you speed up the video or is your watch running fast???
There are some parts that I sped up so the sake of time. I also take a few breaks here and there.
Would putting WD 40 on a q-tip and applying it that way work for the lubrication part?
In a pinch, it will. I'm not a big fan of putting any oil based lubricants on plastics, though. Oil based lubricants like WD40 or vaseline may damage plastic and rubber. Try to use synthetic lubricants instead.
@@TRUFixes got it. Thanks
Help! I have this model PS3 and tore it down because the battery needed to be replaced. I was the first person to disassemble it. I’ve had a fair amount of experience with PS2s servicing my Test station, but this was my first time with this revision. Upon reassembly I’m getting no picture output. Scratching my head as to why….
I've got a feeling that there might be a connector that is not seated all the way. Check all your connections to make sure that you didn't miss one.
@@TRUFixes you were right - it was one of the ribbon cables that go into the optical drive! Thanks!
You left out a bunch of steps and I got confused at times. Thanks though
Sorry about that. I'll try to be more concise in future videos. Thank you for the view, though!
I replace the power board on mine and the power bottom 12pin flex cable, and still no power is coming on? The model is 50001/N. Any idea what else it could be wrong?
By power board, do you mean the power supply? I don't recall, but sometimes there's a fuse where you plug in the power cable. You can try checking for a fuse. You can also check and see if there's power coming into the power supply and also checking if the appropriate voltages are leaving the power supply.
Hi is there a way to open a fat ps2 without tearing the sticker on the back?
You can try using a heat gun to loosen the glue but it's not a sure thing. It's always 50/50 for me...
first view :D
Thanks! I greatly appreciate your support!
