Escapist is the bonus track from the 2007 Nightwish album Dark Passion Play. Its lyrics are about being mired in reality and wishing, wanting to escape - escapism. In 2005, Nightwish fired Tarja Turunen, their vocalist since 1996. This resulted in an incredible amount of attention focused on Tuomas and he calls this his "dark period", a very unhappy time. Given this, you can understand why he wrote the song "Escapist" - he was a nightingale in golden cage, locked in reality's maze.
Despite the dark tone, I love this song. I was always amazed that it was not included in the Dark Passion Play album as honestly it's possibly the best song from that period! And the best suited to Anette's voice. Tuomas wrote something incredible with this - Escapist is one of his best songs in my opinion. So it was good to make a piano version of it! Please enjoy Escapist, piano version!

This was the first nightwish song I ever heard, itunes randomly recommended it to me, and it literally changed my life by introducing me to symphonic metal as a whole! I love this song

My suggestions is "Whoever Brings The Night"
I don't like the lirycs much, but I really like the instrumental and orchestral version, they are very magical and dark, trust me.

Hearing the music i can imagine an epic piano cover.
Actually, Whoever Brings the Night is really the song that got me listening to Nightwish! I was listening to that song to try and learn what made the "Nightwish" sound and after a few days, I wanted to hear it again. Then I started listening to their albums and I really started listening a lot! That's my story!

The lack of sustain from your keys makes the melody too chopped and austere. The rhythm practically has no flow. At times it just sounds like random, unrelated notes played after one another with no harmony or transition.
It seems to me that this was intentional decision for this arrangement. For example, around 2:30 it has a lot of sustain.
