My best friend and i have determined that sometimes its just changing the color on a type/style of bait. LOL those days are challenging, we just use sonar as well and not these fancy live units, we fish the same way we did back in the 1980’s & 90’s.
Randy, you are so right. One thing I’ll add is sometimes when you’re not catching fish you unwittingly speed everything up. You cast faster and maybe further, you reel or work the bait faster and the result is your cadence if off. Your suggestion of eating a sandwich or just taking a break is great advice. One thing I’ve found helps is to look at something unrelated to my line or lure if possible. Watch the water around you or look for the next spot to cast to. It seems that helps me slow back down again.
Went fishing at local urban creek yesterday. The water was still way off color and had a really bad smell; found no signs of life and only 1 or 2 small fish way upstream. I had to go downstream to the point where the vegetation cleared up the water a little. Had to cut thru the jungle and clear a fallen tree to find them in an area previously inaccessible. That is how tough the fishing has gotten for bankies here in San Diego.
If I am not getting bites, I just keep moving. One of my most memorable days ever occurred at the very end of a long and fruitless day, when eventually I found them biting.
Had an extremely tough tourney yesterday with bluebird skies and no wind. First cast of the day, BAM!..4.35# sm. 15,minutes later 2.5# lm. THEN THE SUN CAME OUT 😩 hit 15 spots and filled limit with 1#ers. Unfortunately my partner lost a 4+ at the net that would’ve won!!
In my opinion, the best part of fishing is when you try everything and the kitchen sink and finally find that right bait and area. I love it!

If I get a day when it's impossible, the drop shot takes over. Can usually get a dew on that!
That wall behind you….🤤
Nothing like a boat sandwich 😂🤌
