  • Golden Girl Beatrice Arthur was a Spokesperson for the Canadian National Drugstore Chain Shoppers Drug Mart for a number of years in the mid-late 1980s (eventually followed by LA LAW power couple Michael Tucker and Jill Eikenberry) but this fact is largely forgotten in the world of advertising. A quick look online and retroontario states she was spokesperson from 1985 to 1992. This particular spot doesn't seems to be online at the time of posting, so let's add to the collection shall we?

oh she did......I have a few of the radio spot original reels from that era also. Your recent CBC TV item made me start digging into my video tapes again and seeing what I can find. I usually do audio as a rule. Problems with quality loss in posting to you tube made me walk away, but after some research, I got that problem fixed, so likely will be posting on my you tube channel occasionally.

@@scottsnailham I've caught a number of your pieces over the years. Good to see you getting back in action. Everything from aging analog recordings to RUclips compression fights what we're trying to do and the quality of it. I know in the CBC interview, it's highlighted that everything is done in real time which sounds cumbersome enough but it actually takes a lot longer than that to get things just right sometimes.
No two VCRs work exactly the same and they don't record to the tape in the exact same place so I'm forever adjusting heads.

@@BetamaxKing you always will, not many real standards in consumer audio and video decks compared to pro audio or video. I just do the best I can for video. I'm far more anal for audio, and yes, you are right, it's real time+ whatever needs to be done in any media. I just did a run to NB to get a pile of NFB 16mm films being tossed...I have a 16mm film projector to play with..at least for myself, but let's see if I can something decent for a transfer...the experimentation begins, when I have time. Lots audio projects right now. remastering a 12 hr christmas radio special for my audio stream among others and gear always having issues in my radio studios. Still, it keeps me out of trouble.
