I don't think so. These so called justices are stupid, shallow, and unconscious. They did not even consider the ramifications of their power grab. Sure, they are in the tank with Trump and the wealthy cabal that controls this dying world's resources. However, their ignorance will bite them. Abrupt climate change will soon bring perfect Justice to Earth and will make this SC and all its stupid rulings a moot point. The Democrats should try to make a Constitutional amendment that says presidents don't have immunity from criminal prosecution. Even if it doesn't happen fast enough, it could show people there is a way around this new rule.

There is no legal way to fix the United States (at least not within the next 20+ years, and likely not ever). When the Supreme Court's ruling is explicitly contrary to the Constitution, there is nobody to whom that ruling can be appealed. There are supposed to be three equal branches of government, but the Supreme Court has ruled that the President is superior to everything, and the Supreme Court is superior to Congress (can override constitutionally-sound, unambiguous laws).

The Supreme Court was suppose to interpret new laws for constitutionality of laws. Not make laws. Why would we need a government otherwise?? Something to think about. No more government of the people, for the people.
The Roberts Court is corrupt, at least the six MAGAts are. This ruling was absolutely unnecessary. In fact, the case itself was absolutely unnecessary for the court to take up. The trial court and appeals court had ruled on the matter, with the appeals court issuing a very well reasoned opinion. The Supreme Court could have let this go to trial. Then if Trump was convicted he could appeal on whatever grounds he wanted, including supposed, really made-up, immunities. The appeals courts and Supreme Court could then evaluate those appeals. The country went through 44 previous presidents over 230 years since the ratification of the Constitution, without there being any issues about presidents being criminally charged by their successors for political reasons. Even in the case of Nixon, had he been charged with crimes it would have been by a DOJ under a Republican president, who had been Vice President picked by Nixon himself. The Constitution specifies certain immunities for members of Congress and the President. It does not grant the President any sort of immunity like those granted by Roberts and his cronies. Hamilton in Federalist No. 69 explicitly states that a former president is subject to the courts. The Framers were gravely concerned that a President would become a tyrant, and sought to limit his powers to help prevent that. Brett Kavanaugh in his confirmation hearings said explicitly that no one is above the law, including the President. Looks like that was a lie of convenience. Mitch McConnell, for what little his word is worth, said that Trump was subject to the law. SCOTUS is as a matter of practice supposed to be as minimalist and targeted in its rulings as possible. This was not that. It actually gave Trump immunities beyond those his lawyers even asked for. The damage to the country and the rule of law from this could be fatal to democracy in America.

How do the rules transcend the present? The way I read it, the Supreme Court just gave President Biden unparalleled power to act. He can fix Roe; He can fix the Supreme Court; He can fix everything as he sees fit with no questions asked. He has all the power. He can stop apologizing for the debate and take this huge win!
