    Everything you create inspires new ideas and design space to explore. For example, with lizard generals being tied to your lands, you could add a card that has no lizard general but provides more elite warriors to your deck as a longer term investment gameplan which weakens your early game, or a card that immediately puts 1-3 lizards into your discard so you can get the lizard swarm going sooner at the cost of one of your limited cards you get to play over the game.

    If you are planning on making more than four elements you should make a ghost faction
    It’s gimmick could be having ghost cards that are in play, but must possess a vessel in order to be used/use some of their abilities. The vessels could either be buildings, or just creatures that can’t don anything without being possessed (basically statues)
    I know this isn’t really a good base but I think it could be a cool idea. The game is looking great so far!

    • @hugodiniz1433
      @hugodiniz1433 Месяц назад +10

      What if the ghost and statues were not completely useless without the possession? The ghost creatures could still do everything, but would be unable to do damage, and would have high damage stats, requiring possession. Meanwhile, the statues could have things like do not move and can't do actions, but still be used in many other ways.
      Also, besides statues, dolls and zombies/skeletons could be other two things that can be possessed, with different pros and cons. Statues are more defensive, and can't move while not possessed, dolls and puppets can also not move, but instead have damage boosting abilities like damage twice, and zombies are very weak and easy to be distracted. Ghost could also have different pros and cons, and the gimmick becomes "finding the best two cards to combo", instead of "fusing to cards into one"

    • @CarmineClouds
      @CarmineClouds Месяц назад +4

      @@hugodiniz1433 ghosts could have abilities that they are able to activate without possessing other cards, and statues could be weaker to damage when not possessed, allowing them to be destroyed before you are able to possess them.
      Another gimmick of the element could be placing a gravestone over an enemy creature whenever it is destroyed, which could be a structure that allows you to bring them back as a zombie if it is destroyed. The zombified version could have halved stats and no abilities, but be under your control. This might not work though because he said he doesn’t want another element to place pieces on the board like the doors.

    • @hugodiniz1433
      @hugodiniz1433 Месяц назад +4

      @@CarmineClouds yes, that is a good idea. Activated abilities that can be used even when not possessed.
      The tombstone/zombie idea is also good, but maybe for another element. If implemented directly in this one, maybe it would become overdesigned, you know? To many things in one place.

    • @CarmineClouds
      @CarmineClouds Месяц назад +4

      @@hugodiniz1433 The tombstone could be an ability itself to keep it less complicated. Some creatures could have the gravedigger trait, which would allow them to bury creatures they kill or dig up tombstones to summon the zombies. Your right though, it could work better as it’s own element.

    i did not want to repeat my idea and be anoying, but i still think a fire, ice and shelter element would be super cool. Like, cards that either generate negative effects(that even themselves are not intrincisely protected against), or give protection against these elements with coats, warm chocolate, cold lemonade, this type of stuff. Things like a ice snake that makes the enviroment difficult terrain to move, and cant exit its own lane without the help of a scarf vendor, or a fire pit with a snow tower, that causes so much damage over time that only a unit that already has shelter can exist on, like a lumberjack in shorts with a coat and axe

    • @tokatstorm9270
      @tokatstorm9270 Месяц назад +13

      Frozen Lakes is one that he has to put in due to it existing in the show, so a lot of that could work around that element?
      That one thematically feels like it should be very land focused, and there’s something about having a ton of fire-creatures in a “Frozen” element, that’s kinda goofy in a way that matches the show.

    • @hugodiniz1433
      @hugodiniz1433 Месяц назад +6

      @tokatstorm9270 Yes, it is somewhat goofy, but it also shows accuracy and a new idea. My main inspiration was that one episode with the fire wolves and ice man, I love that episode. Than, I had this idea while seeing the Votann scouts about explorers in ambient of extreme temperature, and blam.
      Another thing that would make this interesting would be the gameplay. After all, the negative effects would be powerful, but only with the support of a building or unit would it reach a truly good point, and just imagine what a card outside the element could do? Like, a fire/ice build with some corn, that has a debuffer, a shelter character, and a super powerful husk unit.
      Also, there is a potential for both cool and funny cards. Imagine this super twin headed dragon, that can't go anywhere without their support lemonade guy, like a cheetah and their emotional support dog. Or this mega shelter, fallout style, that is weaker than some coat racks

    Seeing your idea for a powerful effect like at 5:48 made me wonder if having some land cards have a "quest" might be a good idea. Like imagine in exchange for not doing anything from the start if you could fufill an objective for a payoff more powerful than what regular land cards might provide. This would allow for a lot of space to add lands that, because of a quest, allow for a payoff for playing a particular deck.

    I have an idea, if you want. A new element, undead. the special mechanic would be that the draw pile and the discard pile are the same. Whenever you put a card in the draw/discard pile, you shuffle it, (so you won't know where it is). You would need to make up a way for you to draw them from the pile, but that part is your job.

    I wonder how feasible it'd be if you could have a Lizard Holes land or building which is like "At the start of your turn, draw until you get 3 chump lizards. Put those lizards in your discard and shuffle the rest back into your deck" and maybe it stacks, even exponentially, where the more you invest in churning your deck, the more return you get. If you really churn your deck, you could then have better access to these strong generals, which reinforces the idea.

I'm curious if you are planning an implementing any elements that feel like more generic fantasy. If you do I think it could be cool, but you would probably want to ad some extra weirdness factor ontop of it. There is a generic schooler in Fin's deck in the show though, so obviously not everything can be super weird.

    Concerned about the balancing of the swarm mechanic for cross-element decks since all of the elements are entirely non-swarm. For example, I imagine corn-lizard could be very powerful because you can get tons of non-unique non-swarm units from corn cards to play the "General" role, making the generals less of a pillar of the gameplay and too easily replaceable. To fix this, I would change the way the keywording works - the swarm units should only follow units with some other characteristic (maybe "units with above X base health" or "units with a combined base health and attack of X"), something that all of the generals possess but will exclude all but the strongest cards of the other elements.
    Another interesting idea this could open up could be the need to make Generals stronger before they can lead. Maybe there is a general that gains health as they eat swarm units until they are big enough to lead, maybe there is a general that loses base health for every unit they lead (capping their swarm count), maybe there is a general who can only lead on home/enemy territory since they receive a buff on one side of the center line.

    You could summon from deck instead if discard, similar to cascade from mtg

    how about a side deck you make then draw from to build the deck for the game. that way you can get the random feel you want from the game while also having a way to customize your deck.

    I wonder how a fusion focused deck could go. My first thought is a bunch of cards that each act as two halves of a full card. So one half could say, "target enemy creature", and the other could say, "add 3 health", which makes a single card horrible, but you can put two cards together and combine the first card's, "target enemy creature", with the second card's, "destroy that target", or the second card's, "target allied creature", with the first card's, "add 3 health", basically letting you put together a bunch of good to outright broken effects, so long as you combine the right cards together. Obviously, this is a really basic example, but I'm curious what you all could put together if you decided to use this idea.

    What if with the crystal element there could be some way to crystallise the buildings? Either making them more beneficial on the board, or (after you crystallise the buildings) giving you the ability to shatter them, just an idea.

    I had an idea for a cycle of cards the “gods” there is one for each core element. They would be absurdly strong but you could only play them if your devotion was high enough. (Devotion is highly inspired from mtg ) your devotion is equal to the number of your creatures on board

    I love this project and respect both your work and design, but the card draw (or lack of) is a big issue and oversight. No one likes not having any cards to play or constantly running on empty, it's very restrictive and anti-fun. Yes, being able to drop your entire hand every turn is dumb, too.
    It should be like in, for example, Monopoly Deal: you draw 3 per turn (5 if you have 0), can play 3 per turn (not counting special moves) and can't have more than 7 at the end of the turn.
    Simply adding a limit to how many you can play per turn solves the "vomit entire hand" issue while allowing for regular drawing.

      You'll see it's pretty clear in gameplay that the point of the limited cards draw, while show accurate also forces us to build elements in much more unique ways. Each element has entirely different ways of pulling cards, gaining card advantage, and casting abilities rather than just playing from your hand. We want to involve as few restrictions as possible from cards played from hand to add creative freedom and skill expression into your gameplay. Hopefully seeing more or playing the playtest coming out soon, we can change your mind.
