This is AMAZING. this is a hard song to act out because you have to look emotionless and numb while still portraying so much emotion.

This should be required study for anyone who would attempt the role. The flourishes she interpolates at the ends of the phrases are exquisite.
The flourishes are beautifully sung but I find them distracting. Good for a pop song but not an acting performance.
This is beautiful. It hurts my heart when people say that Anna Kendrick's version is the best. I mean, perception is subjective but, like, really?
+alleleism you are right - her voice .. it's beautiful. I think Lea Solange and Anna Kendrick manage to get more emotion ... and i actually end up feeling broken along with them. Whereas Lauren's take on the character.. i sense more bitterness and anger. Different takes on the character... Lea and Anna devastate and think that is why so many attribute it as the best. I am more moved as well. It's difficult to sympathize with Jamie.

good point - a lot of versions of this songs emphasize the, "hurting," while Kennedy comes off a little more like someone who was unhappy in the marriage and knew she was unhappy, but wasn't quite ready to move on. Both valid choices, and lots of great voices to choose from.
No Lea Salonga is the best
Lea Salonga' s rehearsal video is like poetry which was raw and pure.

My favorite version
I like this more than Lea Salonga's rendition. Though Lea's rendition is also good but i prefer this simply because I like the way the song was delivered and acted. What so nice about Lea is that she has this beautiful voice that would make any song she sings (songs that fit her instrument) sounds delightful.
i feel as if this version portrays more bitterness and anger while lea's version is all about sadness and hurt. its about perception.

I used a RUclips to mp3 converter on this video and saved it to my music like that :) I'm not able to find a copy of Lauren's version anywhere other than bootlegs, so I worked with what I could :/
Although Lauren originated the role, she chose not to continue with the show, opting instead to do South Pacific in London, and thus is not on the Original Cast Recording.

I’m currently searching for any version where it sounds better than Candice King singing the last 4 lines in Vampire Diaries and still I have yet to find a better version and it makes me very sad
The best version I've heard of this song is by Carrie Manolakos. Great singing and such emotion. However, someone took it down and hopefully it will return.
Been going through different performances of this and finally found one that makes me appropriately upset with Jamie.

I like this, but that same little riff she keeps doing at the end of phrases is really crap and jars with the honesty of her performance.
If you mean when she sings "hurting," I actually think that's written into the score.
It's written like that. Bad writing as opposed to a bad performance choice.

It’s not written in the score and I agree that it doesn’t fit the song.
I have a problem with her timbre. A tad shrill.
