Arizona Gold - Mine Camp - Ball Mill - High Mountain Mine - Steep Shaft

- This exploration starts with a visit to an old mining camp where there are several interesting pieces of equipment. There, we saw a nice ball mill, feeder belt, shaft bucket, and more. Next came a fun Jeep ride through a rugged wash and up a steep road where we parked after getting tired of bouncing around on the rough road. We continue on foot past an impressive road wall, high into the desert hills, to a box canyon where we arrive at a remote gold mine. While we were exploring the interesting underground workings, we came upon a hoist room and winze shaft. The shaft was quite steep, but we made our way down it with the use of a rope to a point where the shaft went almost vertical. The shaft seemed to be quite deep from what I could tell. It was fun explore, and we hope you enjoy the video.
Here is a link to another video we think you will like:

Thanks!
Thank you for your generosity. $$ We appreciate you!👍😊
Should've left the Jeep and jumped on the burros, they looked like they were ready to be hired for some food and water. May have been a smoother ride!😂
Haha, that's the best idea yet, Puttesla. Thanks for watching!😆
did they have a sign "will work for
food"
another fun explore ....too bad you didn't make it to the bottom of the shaft ....that may have been pretty cool explore at the bottom ...but Safety first my brother .....love all those old artifacts at the miners cabin ....you two be safe out there and keep'em coming
Hey Jeff. Yup, another shaft I need to follow up on. So many mines, so little time. Thanks for the comment, brother!😁
Good morning T&J
The first thing that jumps out at me in the video is how fractured the mine walls are.
I knew when you said Julie will want to go down that shaft, you would come back to it. 😂
Very unusual looking shaft to me. Too bad you didn’t get to see the bottom of it.😢
I hope the miners made some money for all the hard work they put into that operation.
Thank you for sharing with us all . 🫏⚒️👍
Hi Tom. The mine seemed pretty stable. I always tease Julie by saying to her, "I know you want to go down that shaft." 😄 I have no idea of the production numbers for this one. Thanks for the comment!😁
Hello Tom and Julie. It's great to see my two favorite desert rats out and about again. I think the two burrows were looking for a ride. That mine was very interesting, the hollege tunnels and the drifts were quite large . It's to bad you couldn't get down that shaft. I'll bet there's a lot more to see down there, perhaps next time. Ok well as always thanks so much for taking me along for the trip. Please be safe in all you do. Hope to see you again soon.
@bobterry2952 Hi Bob. Yes, I think the burros would have come with us if we had a handful of oats or whatever they like. Another shaft I'd like to follow up on. You're welcome. Thank you for watching and for the nice comment!😊👍
@@TomandJulieMineExploringIf I knew how to help you financially for your trips I would but I don't know how to do it.
No worries. There is a "thanks" button on each video below our channel name in the row of options like the thumbs up and share buttons.
Those were healthy looking burros!
Hi Jeff. Yes, very healthy and friendly. Thanks for commenting!😁
Thank you, Tom and Julie, for another great outing today. 👍
Hi Lloyd. You're welcome. We're glad that you liked it. Thanks for watching!😁
Thank you, Tom and Julie, for another great find.
Hi Jack. You're welcome . Glad that you liked it. Thanks for watching!👍😁
Thanks for another interesting mine tour.
Hi Brian. You're welcome. We're glad that you liked it. Thanks for watching!😁
You mentioned at one time there was bats in there as there was lots of bat guano on the floor. That's probably why there was a fire there. To smoke of the bats sad to say. Yeah it amazes me the effort these miners went through to build roads and carry all that equipment. Lots of determination that's for sure.
Hi Stephen. Yes, you are correct about the dies. There was a sizable bat colony in here at one time. I'm guessing it was established after the first era of the mine and before they got kicked out by the current operators. Getting the road built and hauling things to the mine and hauling ore out is mind-boggling. Thanks for watching and commenting!😁
Well the walk was certainly worth it with some great finds outside the mine and still in good condition, there was a lot to see here and some areas hard to get to but good coverage as usual from you two, keep safe and catch ya Cheers
Hi Brian and Mary. Walking these mountain roads and old miners trails never disappoints. Glad that you enjoyed the explore. Thanks for commenting. Cheers!😁
Hi Tom & Julie, I know you guys are not into the paranormal but at 14:59 I heard someone whisper "Hey", you will need your audio up with headphones from around 14:58 - 15:00 to catch the voice, it is just after you say "Well let's take a right". Oooh 2nd trip with more rope and harnesses ??? A very cool explore, I agree that shaft is very intriguing. Thank you for sharing, much love. xx 🥰
Hi Sue. I'll have to go and listen to that part of the video. Maybe we can get back there sometime and go farther down the shaft. Thanks for watching and commenting. We appreciate you!👍❤️
@@TomandJulieMineExploring I appreciate everything you guys do as it's not easy hiking and driving in the heat I imagine, much love always to you both. xx 🥰🙏❤
Hey T&J, expanding your travels to AZ, the burros looked at you guys like you're new to the neighborhood, that jeep is old, reliable ! Lol, take care stay safe!
Hi Raiderman. We spend some time each year in Arizona. Haha, I think those burros wanted a ride. The old YJ still runs pretty well. Thanks for watching!😁
Awesome explore as always 👌 thanks for sharing 👍 cheers from Blissfield New Brunswick Canada 🇨🇦
Glad that you liked the explore. Thanks for watching from Blissfield!😁
Love seeing infrastructure inside a mine. Too bad some of the equipment wasn't still there. Who knows what lurks at the bottom of the winze? (I'll bet the Shadow does!) Way cool road wall. Thanks for the tour!
Hi Lesley. Haha, only the Shadow knows. Those roadwalls always amaze me with the amount of work it took just to get to the mine. I'd like to know what down the shaft, too. Thanks for commenting!😁
Hello Tom Hello Julie
A impressiv terain and view from the mine.
The engine of your Jeep make some Valve noise.
May be you have to correkt the clearance.
I hope the jeep has no hydraulic Lifters .
I hope you come back to the mine with more rope to see whats down the incline .
I wish you both a happy weekend and a good new week
Yours Frank Galetzka
Hello Frank. The Jeep has hydraulic lifters, so no tappet adjustments. Hopefully, we can go back and see what's down the shaft. Thanks for the comment!😁
Another interesting video from Tom and Julie. I would suppose that the various fires that had been started in the mine were not from some mindless vandal. They must be from individuals wishing to work the mine without the bother of bats flying about. I hope that the two of you are doing well.
I'm glad that you found the video interesting. That is correct about these fires. They were made to kick the bats out. We've seen plenty of fires in mines that were made by vandals. The timbering in some great mines has been burned due to arson. Thanks for the comment. We are both doing well, and we hope the same is true for you!😁
Now we see how it is: Tom drives while Julie has to walk the entire way, filming!
Lol, shh, don't tell everyone my segret. She does get to do a bit of camera work on the road. Thanks for the chuckle!😄
Good Friday!
Hi Dave. Thanks for commenting!😁
Love the drive gong u o the mine .lots of head room in that old mine . Great job guys!
Hi Tony. Yes, getting to these places is half of the fun. Glad that you liked the mine. Thanks for watching!😁
You could have taken that Ball Mill home as lawn art, Julie could have helped you load it in the back of the Jeep.
Haha, no. I wouldn't even think of it. It was pretty happy where it is. Thanks for the chuckle!😁
Good morning friends,
We watch and enjoy each and every video you produce, we don't always comment, but you two do a great job.
Sincerely; Dave and Kathi.

the scenery you showed is just breathtaking , that jeep of yours is a real die-hard , very impressive . thank-you for another great video, see you next time.
Hi Tony. That scenery really is great. Glad that you liked it, too. That's a tough little Jeep. You're welcome, and thanks for watching!😁
O boy goly gee wilikers Julie great mine good heavy stuff. Looks like you kick Tom's behind in Hicking big time lol😅😊
Hi Gary, thanks for watching and commenting on the video. Yes, there was lots of good heavy mine stuff in this explore! Tom is actually just as good a hiker as me and way better at climbing mountains than me! Have a good week Gary. 🙂Julie
that was very relaxing thanks for sharing and have one for me
Hi Jerry. Thanks for watching and commenting. We'll tip one for you!🍻
Thank you Both Glad to see you're still stirring up the Aventures!!!; )
Hi Richard. Thanks for stopping by the channel. We appreciate your support!😁
Another great one, I liked the burrows. That was some awesome old equipment. I would have liked to see the bottom of that shaft. But I wouldn't want you to put yourself in any danger. Until next week be safe and bless you both.
Hi Jimmy. Hope you are doing well! 🙏
I would like to see what's down that shaft, too. Thanks for the comment!😁
Thank you for taking us along, Tom & Julie! See ya next week!
Hi Jimmi. You're welcome. Thanks for watching and commenting. We appreciate you!😁
Cool equipment there, each drift had a different makeup of rock. Thanks for the look, stay safe down there.
Hi Mick. Yes, some cool pieces of equipment. You're welcome, and thanks for watching!😁
I think you are plannig to explore the shaft next time!
Thanks for this video and greetings from Gremany!
@@WHuske I would like to go down the shaft. Hopefully, we will return to this mine. Thanks for the comment!😁
Thanks for showing the rough ride and how hard it is to get to some of these mine sites. Thanks guys!!
@@user-if6mk4rh1j Hi Bruce. You're welcome. A lot of mines are in difficult to reach areas. Thanks for watching!😁
Awesome views
Hi Bobby. Glad that you liked the views. Thanks for watching!😁
Julie is extra quiet today!
Hi Mark. Julie is naturally the quiet type. It's work for me to get her to talk, especially to the camera. It's not a bad thing, though. Better than a bossy loudmouth. 😁
Thanks for the comment!👍
This has my brain! All the equipment pads along with the ball mill says this was some operation. The good stuff had to be down the shaft or from some other hole in the ground close by. Thanks Tom and Julie.
Hi William. This is a fairly big mine just on the main level. There is quite a lot of drift that I didn't show because there was not much to see in places. The ball mill is not right at the mine, so that might have serviced other mines in the area, too. I can't find much information on the shaft or what might be down there. Of course, I would like to know, so maybe we can make it back there sometime to see. Thanks for the comment!😁
Here I go again. Best yet and a nice Jeep ride. Thanks.
Hi Roy. Thanks for watching. Glad that you liked it!😁
Awesome .... another Mine exploring adventure from two of my favorite mine explorers . Thank You.
Thanks for watching and for the kind words!😁
Thanks, T&J! Stay safe!!
Hi Ralph. You're welcome. Thanks for commenting. Will do.😁
Awesome video
Those mine shafts were very deep !!!
Yes, that seemed fairly deep. Glad that you liked the video!😁
Oh I can't help to think if you ever poked a hole in your oil pan and that jeep you be stuck!😮 Have you ever had car trouble out there? Maybe you should always bring your motorcycle on the back of that jeep just in case.😊 You should take a lot of chances buddy. So you worked on a oil rig huh? You have to tell me more about that when I see you again.😊😊😊 Tell Miss Julie I said hello.😊
@eddie9903 Hi Eddie. The oil pan is pretty high up and kind of tucked away on this engine. There is also a skid plate that protects the middle of the underside. We have never had any vehicle trouble while out exploring. Yes, I worked on an oil rig in Wyoming for a season in 1981. Julie says, "Hi Eddie." Thanks for the comment!👍😄
*T&J!*
Pretty cool mine there, looked to be quite the operation at one time eh?
Man, you make me nervous with those rope climbs in shafts sometimes Tom...
I know the video wouldn't be posted if something were to happen, but still - dude,
we're getting old, you know? 🙂
Y'all be safe, see you next one.
- Ed on the Ridge
Hi Ed. Yes, a cool mine and shaft. I wasn't going any farther down that shaft. It wasn't even my rope it was just there. I didn't have a harness either, so the rope was really not much use. You're right. We're getting old, and my mine exploring days are winding down. Thanks for watching and commenting. We appreciate it!😁
I was at this mine at least 15 years ago. I didn't get in to the mine as there were a couple of people and various equipment up there. They had an active claim and were working the mine, back then. It was an interesting explore and I did stop and look around the old mine camp, too. Thanks for taking me inside to see the mine.
That's cool that you've been to this area. It's gated, but I didn't show it. I think someone is still working the mine. Glad that you enjoyed seeing the workings. Thanks for the comment!😁
Ah, I wanted to see how you were going to turn that thing around. LOL Definitely, a cool mind, and definitely an old gold mine, however. the question is, are you gonna go back? That road would probably be a stopper for me, unless I could rent me a helicopter, but that was definitely a cool mind and definitely one that's not visited very often. Thank. you know, this was a wonderful video.
Well, turning around on these narrow mountain roads is always interesting. That's why we stopped in a wide spot as I had no idea what the road ahead was like. Glad that you enjoyed the video. Thanks for commenting!😁
Very amazing and beautiful views again and this is one mine you need to come back to with your climbing gear and plenty good rope to see where that shaft goes
Hi John. Yes, the area has a rugged beauty to it, for sure. I would like to go down the shaft. We'll see if our travel plans allow for a return visit. Thanks for commenting!😁
@TomandJulieMineExploring I hope you are able to revisit that mine shaft because it leaves a part of you thinking what could be there and where would it go
Yes it does, for us, too.
@@TomandJulieMineExploring I imagine it does
Nice explore. Thanks for taking us along. Take care of each other and stay safe.
Hi Ed. You're welcome. Thanks for taking the tour. We appreciate you!👍😁
Hello Tom es Julie, It was nice to see some equipment outside. Just wondering, how many mines
have you worked in? Were they gold mines? Was Julie a miner as well 🙂 Just kidding Julie ☮ .
Have a great weekend. See you sext time.
Hi Scott. I have only done some hobby mining in gold mines. Thanks for the chuckle. Hope you have a great weekend!😁
The Burros did not seem to care about y'all. In my experience they always run off. The only place I've seen them that docile in the hills is near Oatman AZ
When I’m on my quad they run off, maybe too much noise!😂
Hi Eddee. These burros have obviously been around people before. The burros in Oatman will stop traffic on the highway. I never feed wild animals so as not to promote them becoming beggars. Coyotes will do the same thing. Thanks for watching!😁
Hey Robert!😁
Funny how your stock jeep has out lasted Glys custom lifted one
Hi Robert. Is old Bob having problems? The YJ has almost 200K miles on it. Thanks for watching!😁
You two are gutsy! I hate caves .
Hi Todd. Being underground is definitely not for everyone. You can enjoy the view from the comfort of your couch. Thanks for watching!👍😁
Another great explore! I always appreciate the effort and expense you to incur to produce these videos. As always thank you for taking me along and sharing the mine and beauty of the area with me.
Hi Bill. Thanks for the nice comment. It does take a lot of effort to do these explores. You're welcome. Glad that you enjoyed the rugged beauty of this area.😁
who hoo!!!!
Hi Cheyenne. 🎸🔥
I've noticed that every once in awhile you'll see a random drill bit stuck in the ground, why do think the miners would do that?. Also I enjoy seeing the burros,I live in Yuma County and we'll see them along with wild horses on the Army proving grounds every now and then
@christopherjq7414 Hi Christopher. Generally, if you see an old piece of drill steel sticking up a foot or so from the floor of the mine, it is there as a stake to keep the air and water lines from interfering with the tracks. The tracks and pipes are often removed for reuse, but the stakes remain. The burros are fun to see, although I wish people wouldn't feed them. They get so tame that they stand in the middle of the road and stop traffic looking for a handout. Thanks for the comment!😁
@@TomandJulieMineExploring now I feel bad because I'll take a bag of apples with me if I know I'm going to be working on the base for the burros that come up to us occasionally 😂
Haha, don't feel bad. I'm sure the burros appreciate you.😊
Hey.
Tom Julie, my name is Emmet. TI live in the panhandle of Florida. I'll watch all the time just curious how are you doing Julie After your episode with cancer? My family wonders how you doing? Keep up the good work
Hello Emmet from Florida, Julie here. Thank you for watching our videos! I hope you have been enjoying them.
I am still in remission from my cancer and doing very well, thank you and your family for thinking of me. 😊❤️
@@TomandJulieMineExploring That's good to hear very good news.Keep doing what you're doing. We enjoy it
Thank you.
And so now....When y'all going back?😊
Hi Richard. That's a good question. Logistics are tough to work out getting to these places, so I can't give you a good answer. I would like to know what is down the shaft. Thanks for the comment!😁
Are you sure you don’t want to take one of the burros home, they would make a great addition to the home! Too bad the mine doesn’t show much interest except the drill bits in the ground and always good outdoor remnants. What video did you do that the mine was a bat haven, I can’t find it? I think it was over a year or two ago, been a while. Did you say that you worked on an oil rig? A friend of ours worked on the Hondo off the Santa Barbara Coast. He is passed but worked on rigs for many years, even in Peru. What was your experience? I think you both need a break from this hot weather, are you going back to the coast? Thanks for another great video and do you ever let Julie drive the Jeep? it looks like she’s getting a lot of good exercise! Take care and safe travels! and I’m glad that Julie got the jeep turned around for you😀
@ronstanek2851 Hi Ron. I think those burros would have jumped it the Jeep if we let them. One of the mines we saw that had a lot of bats was the Dracula Mine. Here is a link to it. ruclips.net/video/0rS0TuBx0S4/видео.html
I worked on an oil rig up in the derrick latching pipe. It's a tough job. We were working two weeks on and a week off. 12 hours every day. Julie is not really fond of driving the Jeep. She is a good driver, though.
Thanks for the comment!👍😁
No obvious ore vein visible in the adits.
Hi Francis. No, there really wasn't. I'm not certain of the geology of this particular mine. Thanks for the comment. Good to hear from you!😁
What year is your jeep?
Hi Scott. The Jeep is a 1994 YJ 2.5 liter 5 speed with almost 200K miles on it. Thanks for asking!🚙
